Earthquake results in thousands of deaths in Afghanistan–are their eternal fates doomed?

Reuters reported the following:

Afghan earthquakes kill 2,445, Taliban say, as deaths mount

October 8, 2023

More than 2,400 people were killed in earthquakes in Afghanistan, the Taliban administration said on Sunday, in the deadliest tremors to rock the quake-prone mountainous country in years.

The Saturday quakes in the west of the country hit 35 km (20 miles) northwest of the city of Herat, with one of 6.3 magnitude, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

They were among the world’s deadliest quakes this year, after tremors in Turkey and Syria killed an estimated 50,000 in February. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/afghanistan-earthquake-death-toll-500-red-crescent-2023-10-08/

Those affected are in my prayers.

As many realize, Jesus taught that prior to the start of the Great Tribulation, there would be earthquakes and troubles:

8 … And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

There were also thousands killed last month after quakes (see Over 2,000 reported dead after earthquake in Morocco–any tie to Ezekiel 38?).

Muslim nations have had a lot of highly deadly earthquakes.

Since there is only one name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:10-12), are those killed in the aftermath of these quakes all doomed?

No.

God has a loving plan of salvation and those killed by these quakes will all have an opportunity for salvation.

Those of Muslim heritage are NOT doomed to eternal torment.

God’s Plan is Great

Will most who ever live be saved or suffer eternal torment? Is there only one name under heaven by which humans can be saved? If God is a God of love, does He have a plan of salvation that works? Is God losing a battle with Satan? Does God have a plan to save idolators and Sodomites? Did early Christians understand God’s plan of salvation better than today’s Greco-Roman Catholic and Protestant churches? Are the biblical holy days relevant for Christians today? What did Jesus teach on the Last Great Day? What about the Great White Throne judgment? Will mercy triumph over judgment? Dr. Thiel addresses these points.

We should all love our neighbors, and that should include praying for those affected by this deadly quake.
