ElBaradei Claims Egpyt Will Honor Israel Peace Treaty, But…

Mohamed ElBaradei

One opposition leader is publicly stating that Egypt will honor its peace treaty with Israel:

Egypt’s Treaty With Israel Is ‘Rock Solid,’ ElBaradei Says

Bloomberg – Miles Weiss – ‎6 Feb 2011
Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel is “rock solid,” Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” program.

“I assume Egypt will continue to respect it,” ElBaradei said when asked about the current treaty. He also said “everyone in Egypt, everyone in the Arab world wants to see an independent Palestinian state.”

Of course, the Muslim Brotherhood was a different view as they have already announced that Egypt needs to prepare for a war against Israel.  And speaking of the Muslim Brotherhood, notice the following:

Vice-President Omar Suleiman’s meeting with Egypt’s largest opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other opposition organizations was aimed ending the country’s political crisis on the 13th day of demonstrations against PresidentHosni Mubarak’s regime.

Other delegates attending the discussions include members of secular opposition parties, independent legal experts, a representative of opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei and business tycoon Naguib Sawiris, according to Reuters.

The officially banned organization said in a statement early Sunday it would meet with Suleiman to press its “legitimate and just demands.”

The negotiations marked the first time the Muslim Brotherhood has held direct talks with the government. In the past, Egyptian officials have accused the group of trying to overthrow the secular order.

It is possible that Mohamed ElBaradei could possibly be part of an interim government that may or may not include any from the Muslim Brotherhood.  But with Egypt’s Vice-President Omar Suleiman agreeing to meet with the Muslim Brotherhood, it would seem that the Muslim Brotherhood will play a role, and probably not just behind the scenes.

Since Bible prophecy warns about what will happen in that region (Psalm 83; Daniel 9,11) and the majority of Egyptians seem to be hostile to Israel, this would suggest that either Mohamed ElBaradei will later change or the situation in Egypt will.

Egypt will support the rise of the final King of the South. For example, if he leads a more secular government and there are problems, the people of Egypt may decide to switch to a more religiously-oriented government and/or a more military-oriented government.

If protests continue to expand in the Middle East, this could trigger other events which will possibly contribute to both the King of the South and the King of the North rising up and/or gaining power.
