Representatives of European Union member states reached an agreement on Wednesday in the Council of the EU to move forward with the controversial “Chat Control” child sexual abuse regulation, which paves the way for new rules targeting abusive child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on messaging apps and other online services.

“Every year, millions of files are shared that depict the sexual abuse of children… This is completely unacceptable. Therefore, I’m glad that the member states have finally agreed on a way forward that includes a number of obligations for providers of communication services,” said Danish Minister for Justice, Peter Hummelgaard. …

The Council celebrated the latest efforts to protect children from sexual abuse online; however, former Dutch Member of Parliament Rob Roos lambasted the Council for acting similarly to the “East German era, stripping 450 million EU citizens of their right to privacy.” He warned that Brussels was acting “behind closed doors,” and that “Europe risks sliding into digital authoritarianism.”

Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov pointed out that EU officials were exempt from having their messages monitored. He commented in a post on X, “The EU weaponizes people’s strong emotions about child protection to push mass surveillance and censorship. Their surveillance law proposals conveniently exempted EU officials from having their own messages scanned.” …

While trying to stop sexual exploitation of children is good, things like Chat Control are setting the stage for even more censorship.

Notice also that a group of more than 500 experts in cybersecurity, cryptography, and computer science from 34 countries has issued a clear warning against the European Union’s proposed Chat Control 2.0 regulation:

We are writing in response to the new proposal by the Presidency dated 24 July 2025.

In view of this, we are pleased to note the improvements in the new draft of the regulation proposal including the incorporation of some of the recommendations in our letters of July 2023, May 2024, and September 2024. We particularly appreciate the addition of provisions to ease the voluntary reporting of illegal activity, and the requirement to accelerate the treatment of these reports. These are essential to guarantee swift and effective help for victims of abuse.

However, we read in dismay how none of the changes address our major concerns: it is simply not feasible to perform detection of known and new CSAM for hundreds of millions of users with an acceptable level of accuracy, independently of the specific filter. Moreover, on-device detection, regardless of its technical implementation, inherently undermines the protections that end-to-end encryption is designed to guarantee. Even worse, the changes in the proposal increase the reliance on technical means to support its goals, exacerbating the security and privacy risks for citizens without any guarantee of improved protection for children. …

Under the guise of protecting democracy, the EU has positioned itself as the arbiter of truth. This centralized platform seeks to monitor, analyze, and counter “manipulated” information in real-time, coordinating with NGOs, member states, and cybersecurity agencies. In reality, this infrastructure risks becoming a weapon to stifle independent journalism, dissenting voices, and any narrative that challenges the EU’s policy positions. …

By framing the “struggle for narrative” as an ongoing battle, the EU justifies ever-expanding surveillance and regulation of online platforms and pressuring companies like Twitter to align with its goals. This centralization of control over digital spaces threatens to erode the freedoms of expression and access to diverse viewpoints.

The Real Targets: You and Me

While the EU claims to combat “foreign actors,” its focus on “toxicity” in information opens the door to policing domestic dissent. The language of combating “biased choices” and ensuring the “quality of information” is a thinly veiled justification for narrative engineering. Yes, the EU is taking steps to control information and yes, this will impact individuals and not just foreign nations.

In George Orwell’s book, 1984, the Ministry of Truth, or Minitrue, is a government ministry responsible for propaganda, historical revisionism, and controlling information. Yet, basically it works to spread lies and manipulate facts to maintain the Party’s control.

The Europeans are implementing their Digital Services Act, which is another way they are putting in an Orwellian censorship system. Germany, itself, has also pushed for strong Orwellian measures in its land. Is Germany Becoming Orwell’s 1984?

In his novel 1984 George Orwell described a totalitarian government that controlled all aspects of human existence. “Big Brother is Watching You” was the reality of this government. George Orwell introduced “Newspeak”, a language that was designed to limit the range of thought. He also defined his concept of “Doublethink”, which is the ability to hold two contradictory beliefs at once and, yet accept both as reality. In 1984, the Thought Police were tasked with actually controlling what people can even think, let alone what they can say! The year 1984 has come and gone, but has George Orwell’s “Big Brother” government finally started to arrive? Are many governments in the world today adopting many of the ideas and tactics outlined in George Orwell’s book? If so, what government or governments are leading the way? Has Germany just put in its own version of “Thought Police”? Think about this: There is now a German Government initiative to report your family for wrong think. Understand that without national repentance, which looks unlikely, a globalist-type agenda from Europe will be implemented.

Was loss of free speech and of the press prophesied?

Yes.

The Bible teaches:

11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
But shall not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)

That does not mean that there will be no Bibles. But the time will come when those promoting various biblical teachings will no longer to be able to have access to the internet, etc. as before. We are seeing more and more of this.

The Bible shows more restrictions are coming.

Jesus said:

4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. (John 9:4)

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. (Revelation 3:7-8)

As Philadelphia Christians, we do not give up when a door is closing–we look out for others to be opened. So, in 2023, we greatly increased our radio presence around the world (see also Continuing Church of God Multimedia page). So far, radio is NOT subject to the type of censorship many governments around the world have been engaging in–despite the problems we faced.

As far as censorship goes, expect more.

Europe has already taken steps to push Big Tech to remove speech it does not want to allow.

Restrictions on speech are already here and more restrictions are coming.

The Digital Services Act and ‘Chat Control 2.0’ are partial preludes to the coming ‘666’ controls the Bible prophesies in the following:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18)

As mentioned here numerous times, the ability to monitor buying and selling like the 666 prophecy foretells was not possible when Jesus had the Apostle John pen the Book of Revelation.

But not only does the technology exist now to do so, governments and globalist organizations are pushing for the implementation of tools that will help fulfill those prophecies.

The Bible teaches that the European Beast and his supporters will put in totalitarianism beyond what most believe is now possible (cf. Revelation 13).

He and his supporters will claim to help the climate, economy, etc., but that will not end up well (cf. Revelation 11:15; 18:1-20).

While many in the world seem to be impressed by what the Council for Inclusive Capitalism, WEF, Vatican, and the UN are seemingly trying to do, their end agenda is repeatedly warned against in the Bible (Revelation 13:1-18, 14:12, 18:4; Zechariah 2:6-7).

Notice a prophecy warning against such leaders:

12 … Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-4)

While promoting true peace and justice is great, the way that the globalists seem to be going about it is not good.

Do not fall for it as it will lead to destruction and a totalitarian society. Things like the Digital Service Act will lead to censorship which will also lead to the coming ‘famine of the word’ (cf. Amos 8:11-12).

The globalists want to be able to monitor who is buying or saying anything.

Furthermore, if there were to be carbon passports, that would likely be tied in with your purchases so you could be monitored by some official view of how much harm your purchases cause the environment.

This is helping set the stage for the rise of the Beast who will gain power after the 4th seal of Revelation (which is the ride of the pale horse of death) is opened.

Expect to see various new totalitarian steps implemented and/or proposed in 2025.

Globalism Conspiracy or Convergence?

In May of 2022, the World Economic Forum held a conference where thousands of the world’s elites attended, essentially in support of a ‘great reset’ to change society. In June 2022, the Bilderberg Group met essentially to do the same thing. In June 2022, Pope Francis told a group invited by Cardinal Kurt Koch, “Unity does not come about by standing still.” Whereas the Roman Catholic group, whose co-president in Marc Stengel, called for more cooperation with the United Nations and apparently supporters of Gandhi. The World Council of Churches also supports the globalist agenda as do the Freemasons and others. Could Satan be the real conspirator behind this? Will humanity be able to bring about utopia? Or can true Christian unity and utopia only come about with the return of Jesus and the Kingdom of God? Will the globalist agenda succeed for a time? Dr. Thiel addresses these and other issues.
