Famine in India? Financial Crisis in Britain?

Million face famine after plague of rats devastates rice crop in Mizoram, India

The Times – March 18, 2008

About a million people are facing famine in India’s northeastern state of Mizoram after rats ate the region’s entire paddy crop. The rats swept through the forests, feasting on the fruits of wild bamboo, which flowers every 48 years. When they finished the bamboo, they turned to the farmers’ crops. The last time the bamboo flowered was in 1959 when a similar influx led to severe food shortages.  http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article3571748.ece

As I mentioned before, while we may be close to “the beginning of sorrows” that Jesus spoke of (and they do include famine per Matthew 24:7-8), the end is not yet.

In addition, even though Britain is having its own economic troubles, the end is not yet.  Here is a news item today about some of Britain’s financial problems:

UK facing worst financial crisis ‘in decades’

Telegraph – March 18, 2008

The financial crisis engulfing the British economy has lurched to a new low as £51 billion was wiped off the value of the country’s top companies.

On a chaotic day in the City, the pound suffered its worst one-day fall since Black Wednesday in 1992 amidst fears of a growing global recession…

The slump in the value of bank shares was fuelled by fears that Bear Stearns may not be the last bank teetering on the brink of collapse.

Edmund Shing, a strategist for BNP Paribas, said: “Everyone is asking: Who’s next? Is there a Bear Stearns in Europe?”  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2008/03/18/nmeltdown118.xml.

While times are difficult, the truth is that Daniel 12:11/Matthew 24:15-16 did not get fulfilled today, despite Ronald Weinland’s predictions.

The King of the North did not invade Jerusalem, did stop the sacrifices (which have not yet even started), and Christians did not flee Jerusalem for the mountains.

However, times are tense in many parts of the world, including India.
