Obama: Iran Could Build Bomb After 13 Years

President Barack Obama said Iran would be kept at least a year away from being able to build a nuclear weapon for more than a decade due to a framework deal agreed upon last week. However, he conceded Tuesday the buffer period shrinks to almost nothing after 13 or more years.

Obama, defending an emerging deal agreed to by Iran and six world powers, was pushing back against critics’ claims that the deal fails to eliminate the risk because it allows Iran to keep enriching uranium. …

President Barack Obama has rejected a call by Israel that any final nuclear agreement with Iran include a “clear and unambiguous Iranian commitment of Israel’s right to exist.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had issued the demand Friday while strongly criticizing a framework nuclear deal reached by Iran and six world powers.

Obama discussed the issue during an interview Monday with the American news media organization NPR.

“The notion that we would condition Iran not getting nuclear weapons in a verifiable deal on Iran recognizing Israel is really akin to saying that we won’t sign a deal unless the nature of the Iranian regime completely transforms.  And that is, I think, a fundamental misjudgment,” Obama said.

“We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can’t bank on the nature of the regime changing. That’s exactly why we don’t want to have nuclear weapons. If suddenly Iran transformed itself to Germany or Sweden or France then there would be a different set of conversations about their nuclear infrastructure,” he said.

Israel insists the framework nuclear agreement reached last week in Switzerland threatens its survival and Netanyahu has said he would press U.S. lawmakers not to give Tehran “a free path to the bomb.”  http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-iran-recognition-of-israel-not-part-of-nuclear-deal/2709414.html

What Is Iran Hiding in Its Nuclear Program?

On March 23, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, once again emphasized that his organization’s probe of the possible military dimensions of the Iranian nuclear program had made only very limited progress, owing to a general lack of Iranian cooperation. Earlier in the month, Amano called upon Iran to accept snap inspections of suspicious sites in order to help resolve outstanding questions about Iran’s intentions and its proximity to nuclear weapon capability.

The Islamic Republic’s nuclear spokesman, Behrouz Kamalvandi, flatly rejected Amano’s comments, effectively reiterating Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s insistence that regardless of any international suspicions or the demands of the six world powers with which Iran is negotiating, its relationship with the IAEA will be no more elaborate than that of every other signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

All of this strongly suggests that Tehran has something to hide.  …

Existing concerns are aggravated by the Iranian regime’s two-decade-long track record of concealing its nuclear program, particularly the aspects pertinent to possible military dimensions. Any leniency in response to this obstinacy could result in catastrophic strategic consequences. …

What made the issue more urgent and more pressing was the revelation of detailed, specific information about the existence of a secret parallel system—in particular the existence of a secret site, “Lavizan-3,” in Tehran by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) on February 25. According to the information provided by the Iranian opposition, Tehran has been enriching uranium secretly at this site for years, using advanced centrifuges. …

In light of the steady accumulation of evidence that Iran has been concealing its actual nuclear ambitions from the world community, the IAEA is absolutely right to demand a much more aggressive inspections regime and far greater cooperation from Tehran before it is cleared of even the slightest suspicion. …

In its apparent desperation for a deal, the U.S. has dismissed several relevant concerns about Iran’s behavior; for instance, describing the testing of advanced centrifuges as a “mistake” and not a violation of the Joint Plan of Action. …

Experience has shown that any procrastination would only allow Iran to alter the venue and destroy evidence and linkages to the military aspects of its nuclear program.  http://www.newsweek.com/what-iran-hiding-its-nuclear-program-320388

The New York Post had an article by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Michael Goodwin a couple of weeks ago warning Israel that Barack Obama was not looking out for its interests and to fear what he might do (see NY Post warns Israel to fear Obama).

Iran wants to wipe out Israel, Barack Obama knows that, but he is fine without asking Iran to change its position against Israel.

The following article related to the ‘framework’ deal agreed to several days ago was of interest:

When President Obama announced a “framework” nuclear agreement with Iran – which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warns threatens the very existence of his nation – few noticed the significance of the date.

On the Jewish calendar this year, April 1 coincided with Nisan 13, the date in history when a Persian king signed an agreement calling for the destruction of the Jews.

“King Obama has issued his decree putting the Jewish nation at risk of annihilation on the very same day that King Ahasuerus’ scribes came together and issued their statement to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language and sent letters by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day.”

The ominous historical reference comes from Mark Biltz, pastor of El-Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake, Washington… http://www.wnd.com/2015/04/obamas-iran-deal-announced-on-ominous-bible-date/#XyjUDcvc0uRLAD6s.99

While Mark Biltz has been wrong about ‘blood moons’ (see Blood Moons and Prophecy), the deal with Iran is not good for Israel.  The Nisan 13 deal is mentioned in the Book of Esther:

7 In the first month, which is the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they cast Pur (that is, the lot), before Haman to determine the day and the month, until it fell on the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar.

8 Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from all other people’s, and they do not keep the king’s laws. Therefore it is not fitting for the king to let them remain. 9 If it pleases the king, let a decree be written that they be destroyed, and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who do the work, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.”

10 So the king took his signet ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews. 11 And the king said to Haman, “The money and the people are given to you, to do with them as seems good to you.”

12 Then the king’s scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and a decree was written according to all that Haman commanded — to the king’s satraps, to the governors who were over each province, to the officials of all people, to every province according to its script, and to every people in their language. In the name of King Ahasuerus it was written, and sealed with the king’s signet ring. 13 And the letters were sent by couriers into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions.  (Esther 3:7-13)

Later, however, another decree was issued by the king allowing the Jews to defend themselves against their enemies (Esther 8:11-12).  Haman, himself, the initiator of the decree, was hung (Esther 7:9-10).

Does this mean that there is NO real threat to Israel because of Iran?

No, it simply means that there have been plots against Israel in the past.  The current deal, at least as I understand it, is not really favorable towards Israel and Israel could face problems.

The Bible shows it is possible that God will allow Iran to strike the nation of Israel:

1 The burden against the Valley of Vision.

What ails you now, that you have all gone up to the housetops, 2 You who are full of noise, A tumultuous city, a joyous city? Your slain men are not slain with the sword, Nor dead in battle. 3 All your rulers have fled together; They are captured by the archers. All who are found in you are bound together; They have fled from afar. 4 Therefore I said, “Look away from me, I will weep bitterly; Do not labor to comfort me Because of the plundering of the daughter of my people.”

5 For it is a day of trouble and treading down and perplexity By the Lord God of hosts In the Valley of Vision — Breaking down the walls And of crying to the mountain. 6 Elam bore the quiver With chariots of men and horsemen, And Kir uncovered the shield. 7 It shall come to pass that your choicest valleys Shall be full of chariots,And the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

8 He removed the protection of Judah. You looked in that day to the armor of the House of the Forest; 9 You also saw the damage to the city of David, That it was great; And you gathered together the waters of the lower pool. 10 You numbered the houses of Jerusalem, And the houses you broke down To fortify the wall. 11 You also made a reservoir between the two walls For the water of the old pool. But you did not look to its Maker, Nor did you have respect for Him who fashioned it long ago.

12 And in that day the Lord God of hosts Called for weeping and for mourning,For baldness and for girding with sackcloth. 13 But instead, joy and gladness, Slaying oxen and killing sheep, Eating meat and drinking wine: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

14 Then it was revealed in my hearing by the Lord of hosts,”Surely for this iniquity there will be no atonement for you, Even to your death,” says the Lord God of hosts.  (Isaiah 22:1-14 NKJV)

Elam seems to be a reference to at least some in Iran.  Kir is of interest as it has several possibilities.  One is that the Bible tells that after Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria took over Damascus, he moved Syrians to Kir.  While this does not mean that Kir must (or must only) be a reference to Syria, the fact that Syria is an ally of Iran is interesting.  Some believe Kir is an area in the south of Iran, while others suggest closer to the Black Sea.

Anyway, the point I wish to make is that the above scripture shows, presuming that it has a future application, that a time is coming when God will take away the protection of Judah and the City of David (Jerusalem, cf. 2 Kings 9:28).  If Iran gets one or more nuclear weapons, it could cause great damage to the “city of David.”

Iran has claimed that it will take over Jerusalem.  Thus, it may well be that Iran will decide at some point in time to attack Jerusalem.

But this will not end well for Iran. Notice the following prophecy which indicates at least part of its destruction before the latter days:

34 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, 35 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam,
The foremost of their might.
36 Against Elam I will bring the four winds
From the four quarters of heaven,
And scatter them toward all those winds;
There shall be no nations where the outcasts of Elam will not go.
37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies
And before those who seek their life.
I will bring disaster upon them,
My fierce anger,’ says the Lord;
‘And I will send the sword after them
Until I have consumed them.
38 I will set My throne in Elam,
And will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord.

39 ‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days:
I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says the Lord.” (Jeremiah 49:34-39)

I have long written that Iran will one day be neutralized.  The above prophecy is consistent with that.

But this does NOT mean that Israel, or even the USA, may not be significantly damaged by Iran.  Iran wants a deal to allow it more access to its financial assets and to hopefully improve its economy.  Part of the reason for that is to increase its militarization.  The leadership of Iran simply does not want peace with Israel.  The leadership of Iran has shown no signs that it simply wants to get along, but instead is bent on causing destruction to promote its understanding of Shi’ite Islam.  Yet, that will not end well for Iran.

This proposed deal with Iran will not lead to peace in the Middle East.
