Protests and sporadic rioting has continued in Southern California:
Riots erupted in LA after immigration raids, then tensions escalated

• On the ground: Protesters and police faced off in Los Angeles for a fourth day Monday, with officers using flash bangs and rubber bullets to disperse protesters after objects were thrown at them. At one point, police escorted a CNN crew out of a protest zone. Anti-ICE protests have occurred across the country.
• More troops: About 700 Marines have been activated to help protect federal personnel and property. And President Donald Trump is mobilizing another 2,000 National Guard members, doubling his initial deployment of those troops.
• Divisive deployments: Border czar Tom Homan told CNN the Marine deployment was needed to quell protests. But California Gov. Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass have slammed the federal deployments. Bass said the city is being “used for an experiment” in federal authority. …
While some buildings have been vandalized, and there is graffiti in downtown, much of Los Angeles has not been affected by the protests, she said.
But she noted that what set this protest apart from others is the level of vandalism.

Recently, Gov. Newsom weighed in on the Trump administration’s efforts to undo the last four years of border destruction, when an estimated 10-12 million illegal aliens entered the U.S. unlawfully—among them thousands with criminal records.
Of the recent Los Angeles efforts of ICE to detain those who entered and reside here illegally, the governor proclaimed:
“Continued chaotic federal sweeps, across California, to meet an arbitrary arrest quota are as reckless as they are cruel. Donald Trump’s chaos is eroding trust, tearing families apart, and undermining the workers and industries that power America’s economy.”
Dissect that statement, and almost everything Newsom said was either not factual or misleading.
“Chaotic?” What is chaotic is allowing 12 million unaudited migrants into the U.S. ahead of those waiting years for background checks and legal permission.
The current antidote to a truly chaotic, nonexistent border was to bring some legality and order back to immigration—and not to perpetuate a wild-west border, drug smuggling, cartel profiteering, and child trafficking and abandonment, which were the Biden-era norms.
Chaotic is 1,000 rioters in southern California swarming ICE officers, endangering their safety and lives—and then being contextualized, excused, or even supported by the governor of the state, who supposedly is an upholder of our laws and their enforcement.
Each time Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom side with violent protests and the intimidation of ICE officers, the greater the chance that an officer will be seriously injured or killed—and the violence will spike. Apparently, both think they are riding a wave of public support, when in fact the latest CBS poll found 54 percent of Americans support such deportations.
California’s elected officials seem clueless that the optics of illegal immigrants torching autos, attacking law enforcement, or pelting bystanders, while waving Mexican flags, are terrible. What is the logic of waving the flag of the country to which one is violently opposed to returning, while assaulting the officers and infrastructure of the very nation in which one is demanding to remain? https://www.zerohedge.com/political/gavin-newsom-and-his-cruel-notion-cruel
Driving home last evening, I heard an “analyst” being interviewed by someone on NPR downplay the torching of automobiles as a minor thing that the federal government should not be concerned about. If my car was torched (it was not as I live nearly 200 miles away from the area where the big protests are), I would consider that a serious matter.
Protests and violence related to the Trump Administration’s anti-migrant policies and actions are not unexpected. Expect more protests against Donald Trump. (p. 15)
As the 47th President, Donald Trump plans to deport all those not legally in the USA, though many do not think he can actually succeed in that (Rahman K. Donald Trump’s Deportation Plan Faces Rebellion from Democratic Governors. Newsweek, November 7, 2024). Trying that is expected to cause civil unrest and probably riots. (p. 20)
There are issues with what Donald Trump says when he speaks. I expect protests. (p. 44)
Donald Trump has been a polarizing figure and has offended many including minorities, migrants, and Muslims. Expect civil unrest and rioting. (p. 89)
Donald Trump is setting the USA up for punishment (Isaiah 30:12-13; Romans 1:18-32) that has and will include troubles, violence, (pp. 89-90)
One thing to note about the protests, the federal government, and the media’s approach is the degree of division.
Those more on the “right” believe that enforcing laws and bringing in the military is the proper approach, whereas those on the “left” downplay the violence against property and the police and basically believe that the Trump Administration is unduly suppressing rights of free speech and protest.
Jesus taught:
24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. (Mark 3:24-25)
17 … Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. (Luke 11:17)
The increased divide in the USA is not good.
National repentance is what the USA needs.
But since that is not likely, it will fall.
As I wrote before, the USA does not need protests or troops in the street. The USA needs the return of Jesus and the Kingdom of God.
