Ships still being attacked in the Strait of Hormuz–food crisis looming?

These attacks are not a surprise.

After US President Donald Trump posted about a deal that was to insure peace with Iran and the Strait of Hormuz last June, I posted:

While Donald Trump posted, “This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region,” I do not believe that is so. Consider the following prophecy:

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. (1 Thessalonians 5:3)

While I believe that the above prophecy will have a future fulfillment, it warns us to not blindly accept declarations of peace.   • The navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warns the Strait of Hormuz is “closed”, with four tankers reported hit since Friday. One of the tankers was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade fired from a small boat, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency says.

If the Strait of Hormuz is actually closed, then this would be expected to cause food shortages and food price inflation. Notice a report related to the UN from a few days ago:

A senior UN official warned on 14 October that a failure by the US and Iran to quickly approve a UN plan for shipping fertilizer through the Strait of Hormuz could plunge parts of Asia and Africa into a food security crisis, Reuters reported.

“It’s absolutely crucial to get the deal in the next few weeks. Otherwise, we will miss the planting season,” UN Under-Secretary-General Jorge Moreira da Silva told the agency in Bangkok, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank.

The UN formed a task force in March to secure passage for fertilizer through the strait, but its mechanism has never been put into operation.

Under the plan, a coordination center in Oman would register ships and arrange their transit, while UN monitors would work with local authorities at Gulf ports to verify what is loaded on board.

Da Silva said allowing just five vessels through Hormuz each day could sustain fertilizer deliveries to the countries that need them most.

“We need seven days to put the monitors on the ground and to ensure the transit of fertilizers … We are ready, but we are still dependent on the political will of the parties,” he told the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs in Brussels.

Food price inflation will increase.

Jesus said:

4 Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.  (Matthew 24:4-8)

The rides of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse (Revelation 6:1-8) relate to what Jesus warned would happen.

And certainly we are in a time of wars and rumors of war.

Wars often lead to famines, food shortages, and/or food inflation.

Issues with the Strait of Hormuz look like they will be a factor in that.

And actually, because of the rise in oil, gasoline, and diesel, they already have.

But much worse is coming.
