UK Voting: Jean Claude Juncker threatens to NOT deal with UK if Brexit forces win

Here is something from the USA and German press about today’s Brexit vote:

June 23, 2016

LONDON—Immigration, sovereignty, security and Britain’s economic future were on the minds of voters casting the first ballots Thursday in Britain’s historic referendum that by the end of the day will decide whether the country remains in the European Union.

For some braving the London rain early in the day, the decision boiled down to the ideal of peace on which the EU was founded.

“We have for the first time in hundreds years, we’ve had peace in Europe for over 50 years. I’m a man of a generation who hasn’t had to go to fight a war in western Europe and I think that’s a wonderful thing that is worth celebrating,” said Chris Kenyon, 41, one of the first to vote at polling station in the north London borough of Islington.

“For me, this is peace, prosperity and power and I find it extraordinary that we’re at this point of even discussing exiting the European Union,” he told VOA.

As voters went to polling stations, public opinion polls showed the two sides in a dead heat. http://www.voanews.com/content/polls-open-in-britain-historic-eu-referendum/3388641.html

Opinion: Europe’s hour of destiny …

The whole of Europe is watching: hoping that Britain’s referendum on its future in the EU goes off without a hitch and that they remain in the Union.

The whole of Europe? Of course not. The opponents, the skeptics and the enemies of the club are hoping for a “leave” vote. For if Britain divorces itself from Europe, it will, of course, have a signal impact: for Euroskeptic governments, but especially for anti-EU parties like France’s National Front and Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party in the Netherlands.

Most of Europe is hoping. More precisely: the more reasonably minded Europe. Nevertheless, this part of Europe knows: Even if the United Kingdom continues to be an EU member, reform is sorely needed. The first reaction to a British “remain” will be a giant sigh of relief. But then the EU will have to begin gathering its thoughts on how the deep mistrust of “Brussels” can be overcome. The sense and purpose of Europe must be made clear once again. …

Political folly

However the referendum turns out – one thing is already clear: British Prime Minister David Cameron asked for and chose to stage this dangerous referendum for purely inner-party reasons, namely to quiet Tory Euroskeptics.

In doing so, he has plunged the EU into a fateful crisis. Ironically, he has also summoned exactly those Euroskeptic spirits that he had sought to rid himself of. He has hung the fate of his country and that of the EU on a senseless and utterly unnecessary referendum. And even if the British vote in the pragmatic and reasonable manner that so many hope they will: Cameron has opened a divide in his own country. He has also burdened the EU’s foundations to the point of collapse.

For that reason alone, the decision to hold the referendum was pure political folly. http://www.dw.com/en/opinion-europes-hour-of-destiny/a-19348646

The above writer seems to believe that irrespective of the vote, Europe must change.  And it will.  The Bible shows that it will have at least three major changes in Revelation 17 (two of which are discussed in more depth in the article Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?).

It is interesting that the German press is pointing the finger at David Cameron as he really wants the UK to remain in the EU.

Interestingly, after being somewhat silent, European Commission President Juncker made threats against the UK yesterday:

22 June 2016

There will be no further renegotiation of Britain’s relationship with the EU if we vote to Leave, European Commission president Jean Claude Juncker has said, stating clearly: “Out is out”.

In a last minute intervention that was seized on by both sides in the referendum debate, Mr Juncker said the Prime Minister had already “got the maximum he could receive” from his re- negotiation in February.

His statement appears to rule out any attempt by the Government to use a Leave vote as a chance to force further concessions from the EU while retaining some form of membership.

But the comments, made to reporters in Brussels on the eve of Britain’s historic In-Out referendum, were seized upon by the Leave campaign as evidence of the EU leadership’s intransigence.

Asked about the implications of a Leave victory, Mr Juncker said: “The British policymakers and British voters have to know that there will be not be any kind of renegotiation,” he said.

“We have concluded a deal with the Prime Minister, he got the maximum he could receive, we gave the maximum we could give. So there will be no kind of renegotiation, nor on the agreement we found in February, nor as far as any kind of treaty negotiations are concerned.” http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/eu-referendum-reform-uk-brexit-vote-live-remain-jean-claude-juncker-european-union-a7095601.html

UK Prime Minister David Cameron was publicly opposed to Jean-Claude Juncker becoming EU Commission President. He felt that the policies of Jean-Claude Juncker may well persuade voters in the UK to pull out of the European Union. He also tried to negotiate a better deal for the UK to stay in the EU with Juncker.

Now, it appears that Jean Claude Juncker had made statements to upset some of those in the UK. The fact that Jean Claude Juncker wants an army so that EUROPE will be taken seriously internationally (see EU Commission President Juncker calls for a European army in the face of the threat from Russia) shows that he is looking for a united Europe, not a bunch of states that cooperate as they see fit.

(The departure of the UK from the EU has been called a Brixit or Brexit, meaning a British exit. As far as the UK’s role in the future, as I have written many times before, the UK will not remain a major power in the final European configuration. The UK will be taken over and essentially devoured by the Beast power (cf. Daniel 11:39; for more details see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel). And it may well leave prior to its final formation.)

I do find it noteworthy that we have another in the German press who seems to be calling for major changes to the EU. Presuming that the UK votes to leave the EU, the EU’s lack of strong leadership and the UK are both already in the process of being blamed. This will not bode well for the UK.

The situation in Europe will change.
