There have more people senselessly murdered. This time in Turkey:

ISTANBUL —Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blamed Islamic State for Saturday’s attack on a wedding party that killed at least 50 people in the city of Gaziantep.

The wedding was attended by many Kurds in a Kurdish part of the city, near the Syria border. Erdogan said the suicide bomber was between 12 and 14 years old.

In a written statement published in Turkish media, Erdogan said there was “no difference” between IS, the Kurdish militants of the PKK, and followers of US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom he blames for the coup attempt last month. http://www.voanews.com/a/turkey-cites-terrorism-in-blast-that-killed-at-least-eight-at-wedding/3473325.html

The deadly attack in Gaziantep was carried out by a suicide bomber between the ages of 12 and 14, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters in Istanbul on Sunday, citing police sources. He said 51 people had been killed in the attack and 69 people were receiving treatment in the hospital, with 17 people in critical condition.

Mr. Erdogan also issued a statement earlier saying that the Islamic State was probably behind the attack and that its aim was to sow divisions among ethnic groups in the country and to “spread incitement along ethnic and religious lines.”

There was no claim of responsibility immediately after the attack. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/22/world/europe/turkey-wedding-attack-isis-blamed.html

When I first saw this, Isaiah 3 came to mind:

11 Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him,
For the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 As for My people, children are their oppressors, (Isaiah 3:11-12).

We continue to see more and more deaths due to terrorist acts. According to a report I saw last night, the number of deaths related to terrorism have going up substantially.

Since terrorism is known to exist, can it be prevented in this age?

Consider the following written decades ago:

Terrorists, knowing when and where and how they will strike, always have the advantage. It is virtually impossible to guard against a determined and prepared terrorist.

One man, with a device made from materials bought at the nearest hardware store, can hold an entire city for ransom. A small hit squad can throw an entire country into turmoil. It is that simple.

The experts agree: Anything is possible in the world of terrorism. There is no limit to the terrorist imagination.

The message is clear. In this world, terrorism can never be completely stamped out. Authorities fear that terrorist groups will now feel compelled to commit acts of even greater and more dramatic violence in order to stay in the headlines.

Privately, many experts are saying that they fully expect that a terrorist group will soon either steal or manufacture an atomic bomb and use it as part of some monstrous blackmail scheme. Underground pamphlets have already been uncovered in Europe containing plan s for crude atomic weapons.

Escalating terrorism on a worldwide scale is inevitable!

Far-reaching implications

Where is all this leading? The prospects are grim. The personal suffering of innocent victims caught up in terrorism is just part of the picture. Terrorism can — and will — have much more far-reaching and devastating ramifications. (Stump K. How Terrorism Will be Stopped! Good News magazine, December 1985)

In this age, we are prophesied to have terrorism:

14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, 15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, 16 I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you. (Leviticus 26:14-17)

25 The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:25)

12 “Cry and wail, son of man; For it will be against My people, Against all the princes of Israel. Terrors including the sword will be against My people; Therefore strike your thigh. (Ezekiel 21:12)

12 Behold, these are the ungodly,Who are always at ease; They increase in riches…19 Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. (Psalms 73:12,19)

25 Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, 27 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. (Proverbs 1:25-27)

5 Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way (Ecclesiastes 12:5).

Terrorism is not limited to Asia, the Middle East, or Africa, the West has been affected and will be affected even more in the future.

Although I believe that the group currently known as the Islamic State will not be as it has been, and a temporary peace will come for a time (Daniel 9:27; see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27), terrorism will not be eliminated (though it will appear that way to many for a time).  The Islamic State, per se, will be defeated.

Yet, ultimately, a confederation against the USA, its Anglo-Saxon allies, and Israel involving Arab and European forces is coming per Psalm 83. And I have long believed that terrorism will have to be part of this based not only upon the “terror” prophecies, but those that discuss an arrangement between what is now mainly Islamic dominated lands and Europe in Psalm 83.

Because of actions by groups such as the Islamic State and the terror attacks in the West, as well as in many of the Islam-dominated countries, many will decide that a coalition of nations in North Africa and the Middle East is what is needed for ‘peace.’

However this, according to the Bible, will not truly bring lasting peace (Daniel 11:40-43), though it may well lead to a temporary one (Daniel 9:27). Instead of real peace, an Islamic confederation would be a prelude to the time of coming destruction–and it will come suddenly (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:3).

My prayers go out to the Kurdish families of the victims.
