The Muslim Brotherhood seems to have done well in Wednesday’s and Thursday’s election for the Egyptian presidency:

Cairo

Initial returns from Egypt’s first post-revolution presidential election indicate that the race is headed to the most polarizing showdown possible: a runoff between the Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate, Mohamed Morsi, and the candidate most closely associated with former President Hosni Mubarak’s regime, Ahmed Shafiq.

Official results will not be announced until next week. But according to Dr. Morsi’s campaign, which has observers at each vote-counting station and says 90 percent of the vote has been counted, he and Mr. Shafiq are leading and will advance to a runoff. If the Brotherhood is correct, the race between the two figures will sharpen the bitter divide between Islamists and remnants of the Mubarak regime and could plunge Egypt into further instability.  http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Middle-East/2012/0525/Likely-Egypt-election-runoff-Muslim-Brother-vs.-Mubarak-man-video

By Tarek El-Tablawy and Ahmed A. Namatalla – May 25, 2012

Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Mursi won a spot in the June runoff against an ex-Hosni Mubarak aide in Egypt’s presidential election, unofficial results show, leaving the two most divisive contenders vying for the post.

Mursi had 26 percent of the vote based on counts from 98 percent of polling stations, followed by Ahmed Shafik, the former Civil Aviation minister turned premier in Mubarak’s last days in office, with 25 percent, the independent Rasd News Network said on its website yesterday. The state-run Ahram Gate news website showed the same candidates first and second.   http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-25/egypt-faces-polarizing-presidential-runoff-as-vote-count-ends.html

So, the Muslim Brotherhood Candidate Morsi did better than some had suspected.  Various ones have spelled his last name in different ways Mursi ( http://af.reuters.com/article/topNews/idAFJOE83K04S20120421) and Morsy (Wikipedia).  From what I have been able to tell, Dr. Morsi is not the strongest candidate in terms of campaigning ability.

But, because many in Egypt fear the presidency going to one of Hosni Mubarak’s leaders, Dr. Morsi would seem to have a good chance, presuming that the official results do end up showing him in the top two spots next week and the Mubarak candidate does not come in at more than 50% of the vote (if not, Dr. Morsi cannot be in a runoff election).

Whether the Muslim Brotherhood candidate wins or not, having a strong showing in this election suggests that the foundations to support the prophesied King of the South (Daniel 11:40) are continuing to rise up.

Dr. Morsi, himself, seems to have, amongst other things, overseen the website of the Muslim Brotherhood. That website has the following:

Dr. Mohamed Morsi, candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood and its political arm the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) for the presidency, said that the party and the group have great confidence in the Egyptian people’s awareness and enlightenment, and that they shall willingly and jealously rally around the Renaissance Project…

Dr. Morsi said…“Needless to say, currently, the candidate of the FJP and the Muslim Brotherhood is the only contender who offers a clearly Islamic project.”  http://www.ikhwanweb.com/article.php?id=29910

It is clear that Dr. Morsi wants an Islamic government.  And while not all in Egypt do, they may want a former supporter of Hosni Mubarak less as the Muslim Brotherhood has declared it will seek a more “moderate” form of an Islamic government than certain other political parties in Egypt.

Yet, Westerners should pay additional attention to what the Muslim Brotherhood says that it really wants:

Muslim Brotherhood’s Dr. Safwat Hegazy, a popular preacher, talks about how he yearns to see Arab nations become “like the United States”—for them to unify into the “United Arab States”…Hegazy made clear that his interest in seeing the “United Arab States” has less to do with Arab solidarity (nationalism) and more to do with Islamic allegiance (religion). As he gushed about how wonderful it would be for Arab nations to unite into one bloc…(Source: Abrahim R. Media Reveal the Muslim Brotherhood’s True Face. April 17, 2012 http://frontpagemag.com/2012/04/17/media-reveals-the-muslim-brotherhoods-true-face/

What is the Muslim Brotherhood?…
“The Islamic nation,” its charter states, “must be fully prepared to fight the tyrants and the enemies of Allah as a prelude to establishing an Islamic state”—ideally a re-established caliphate, stretching from Spain across the Middle East and Central Asia to Indonesia, to be governed according to Islamic sharia law. (Understanding the Muslim Brotherhood. February 14, 2011. © The Muslim Brotherhood. http://www.ikhwanweb.com/article.php?id=28019 viewed 11/21/2011)

The final Islamic Caliphate will not end up with Spain if I understand certain aspects of Bible prophecy correctly, but the confederation of the final King of the South may go from around Western Sahara and/or Mauritania to Afghanistan, with possible coordination with Pakistan and/or Indonesia. (plus or minus).

The Bible tells the rise of a leader of a confederation that seems to be based south of Jerusalem. Likely one composed of nations in North Africa, the Middle East, and perhaps the Near East. The main leader of the King of the South could be Egyptian:

40 At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. (Daniel 11:40-42).

6 The burden against the beasts of the South. Through a land of trouble and anguish, From which came the lioness and lion, The viper and fiery flying serpent, They will carry their riches on the backs of young donkeys, And their treasures on the humps of camels, To a people who shall not profit; (Isaiah 30:6, NKJV)

7 Egypt is all show, no substance. My name for her is Toothless Dragon. (Isaiah 30:7, THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language)

Isaiah 30:6-7 seems to tie the “beasts of the South” with “the Egyptians,” which is further support that the Egyptians will most likely have significant involvement with the king o,f the South (as does the fact their land does not escape the wrath of the King of the North). And while Dr. Morsi may not be the one who will the final King of the South, the group he is associated with would certainly be expected to support that type of Islamic confederation.

The Living Church of God has also reported:

The northern Sudan, anciently referred to as Cush, was once part of the Egyptian empire—a region where the future King of the South may headquarter (News and Prophecy. World Ahead Weekly Update, May 24, 2007).

Egypt probably will be the King of the South…historically they have been…The King of the South is probably Egypt or possibly Saudi Arabia (Meredith RC. Where are we now in Bible prophecy? Sermon, Charlotte, NC, April 30, 2011)

Right now…various Islamist groups—often foolishly called “moderate” by the mainstream media—are coming to power in Egypt, Tunisia and other African and Middle Eastern nations after the uprisings of the “Arab Spring.” The prophesied “King of the South” will soon emerge as these nations seek a “Mahdi”—a powerful religio/poltical leader who will bring them together under Islam. This “King of the South” predicted in Daniel 11:40 will no doubt be headquartered in Egypt or Saudi Arabia, not in Iran as some confused people foolishly predict. (Meredith RC. TW Subscriber letter, November 10, 2011)

The United Church of God indicated (Sieglie M. Egypt in History and Prophecy. Good News, May-June 2011, p.11) that the following may be related to the King of the South:

4 And the Egyptians I will give
Into the hand of a cruel master,
And a fierce king will rule over them,
Says the Lord, the Lord of hosts. (Isaiah 19:4)

Additionally, Isaiah 31 lists the destruction of “the Egyptians” (1-3) ahead of “Assyria” (vss. 8-9), just like the Book of Daniel places the destruction of the king of the South (Daniel 11:40-43) ahead of the king of the North (11:45).

The Bible also shows that a time is coming when the confederation with Egypt will be destroyed and it is in the FUTURE:

1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says:

“‘Wail and say,
“Alas for that day!”
3 For the day is near,
the day of the LORD is near-
a day of clouds,
a time of doom for the nations.
4 A sword will come against Egypt,
and anguish will come upon Cush.
When the slain fall in Egypt,
her wealth will be carried away
and her foundations torn down.

5 Cush and Put, Lydia and all Arabia, Libya and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.

6 “‘This is what the LORD says:

“‘The allies of Egypt will fall
and her proud strength will fail.
From Migdol to Aswan
they will fall by the sword within her,
declares the Sovereign LORD.

7 “‘They will be desolate
among desolate lands,
and their cities will lie
among ruined cities.
8 Then they will know that I am the LORD,
when I set fire to Egypt
and all her helpers are crushed.

9 “‘On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come (Ezekiel 30:1-9, NIV).

And this seems to be the destruction of the King of the South by the King of the North in Daniel 11:40-43.

Notice something from the July 1963 Plain Truth article by Garner Ted Armstrong titled “And when you see the Abomination…”:

The king of the South? EGYPT, of course. But not Egypt of today. Egypt of a few more years from now–Egypt as she continues to expand the U.A.R., bringing more and more of the North Africa Mohammedan nations into the same Afro-Arabian power block! (p. 22).

It has been nearly five decades since the above was written, and Egypt has changed to the point that it is close to ready to support the King of the South, whether he is an actual Egyptian or not.

Interestingly, the Catholic saint Jerome apparently felt that the King of the South was from Egypt as he wrote about Daniel 11:

As for the Antichrist, there is no question but what he is going to fight against the holy covenant, and that when he first makes war against the king of Egypt, he shall straightway be frightened off by the assistance of the Romans… the Antichrist…shall first fight against the king of the South, or Egypt, and shall afterwards conquer Libya and Ethiopia (Jerome. Commentary on Daniel, Chapter 11. Translated by Gleason L. Archer. (1958). This text was transcribed by Roger Pearse, Ipswich, UK, 2004. http://www.ccel.org/ccel/pearse/morefathers/files/jerome_daniel_02_text.htm viewed 06/05/11)

The Muslim Brotherhood was originally established in Egypt and seems to have the most adherents currently there (though it has branches in most of the Arab nations, if not all of them).  And while it may not necessarily win the presidency of Egypt this time, it is making major political inroads in Egypt (as well as Gaza, Syria, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, and elsewhere).

To bring enough Arab nations together, I have felt that some type of “strongman” needed to rise up. One who Arabs would tend to respect–who might use or not use the title Imam Mahdi or Grand Mufti  or Caliph ( he could perhaps use a version one or more of those titles, with perhaps other ones with more of a modern political sound)–he is likely to have title more than simply “president” (though that could be used along perhaps with a religious title). The time may be now for him to start to rise up and the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist groups may play an important role.

Events supporting the rise of the final King of the South are happening. Watch (Mark 13:37).

‘Gospel of Barnabas’: Iran’s Plan to Discredit All Christianity?

Friday, May 25th, 2012

Naqsh-e Jahan Square, Iran

COGwriter

Some in Iran apparently think that they have a plan that will discredit all of Christianity:

WND – May 23, 2012

Iran’s Basij Press is claiming that a version of the Gospel of Barnabas, found in 2000, will prove that Islam is the final and righteous religion and the revelation will cause the collapse worldwide of Christianity…

This version of the Barnabas Gospel was written in the 5th or 6th century and it predicted the coming of the Prophet Mohammad and the religion of Islam, the Basij Press claims.

The Christian world, it says, denies the existence of such a gospel.

However, religious scholars have said another version of the Barnabas Gospel, discovered a century ago, was written less than 500 years ago, which would post-date Mohammad.

In Chapter 41 of the Barnabas Gospel, Basij claims, is this statement: “God has hidden himself as Archangel Michael ran them (Adam and Eve) out of heaven, (and) when Adam turned, he noticed that at top of the gateway to heaven, it was written ‘La elah ela Allah, Mohamad rasool Allah,’” meaning Allah is the only God and Mohammad his prophet

“The discovery of the original Barnabas Bible will now undermine the Christian Church and its authority and will revolutionize the religion in the world,” the Basij report says. “The most significant fact, though, is that this Bible has predicted the coming of Prophet Mohammad and in itself has verified the religion of Islam, and this alone will unbalance the powers of the world and create instability in the Christian world.”  http://www.wnd.com/2012/05/iran-discovery-will-collapse-christianity/

The biblical Barnabas, who knew the Apostle Paul (Acts 13:43), did not write this Gospel of Barnabas.  Now, other versions of this false Gospel of Barnabas have been around for a while and it has long been discredited.  So, the reporting of an additional “prophecy” from another version of it about Mohammed (other versions have other prophecies allegedly about him) in it is of little consequence.

Additionally, it should be pointed out that there is another writing falsely attributed to Barnabas called the Epistle of Barnabas, and that is not the same book as the falsely named Gospel of Barnabas.  The Epistle of Barnabas is believed to have came from Egypt.  Here are some comments from the Handbook of Patrology about the so-called Epistle of Barnabas:

PSEUDO-BARNABAS

Under the name of St. Barnabas we have a letter preserved in two principal codices, the Sinaiticus (IVth century) and the Hierosolymitanus (1056). With one voice Christian antiquity indicated as the author of this letter Barnabas, the companion of St. Paul, although it placed it among the antilegomenai grafai, that is to say, contested its canonicity. Modern critics unanimously deny the genuineness of the letter. When the Epistle was written, St. Barnabas was certainly no longer alive and, even if he had been, he would not have adopted the violent and severe attitude evinced throughout this document.

Let’s go over a few points.  First of all, there are no writings by “Barnabas” that are accepted by those that profess Christ as other than false and not actually written by Barnabas.  Second it was only certain false professors of Christ that gave any writing allegedly by Barnabas credibility in the 2nd and later centuries–the NT canon had already been known by the faithful (see The New Testament Canon – From the Bible and History).  Third, if the biblical Barnabas actually wrote any book, it would have been written in the first century–and since the falsely named Gospel of Barnabas seems to have been written later than that, or a least after Barnabas had died, no one will accept its teachings as valid.

Fourthly, the so-called Gospel of Barnabas teaches a variety of non-Christian doctrines which contradict scripture.  It teaches, for example, that Jesus denied His Messiahship, “I am not the Messiah” (Gospel of Barnabas 42:6) and that Jesus sent Mohammed for the “salvation of the world” (Gospel of Barnabas 97:9-10).  Yet, the Bible teaches that Jesus did claim to be the Messiah (John 4:25-26) and it also teaches that other than Jesus “there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

The Bible, itself, also teaches that there will be true (like the two witnesses of Revelation 11:2-12), and false, prophets (Matthew 24:11).  But Mohammed is not named in scripture, nor did he teach the message of true biblical Christianity.

It is most likely that since the false Gospel of Barnabas has various Mohammed statements in it, they were written in by Islamic supporters.  Now, I am not denying that Satan could not have that written in a document prior to the actual emergence of Mohammed–it just seems unlikely, especially for books that already had long been discredited by those who profess Jesus.

So why might some in Iran make a big deal about the false Gospel of Barnabas now?

It seems to fit with an Iranian political agenda.

Iran, itself, has long wished to become the leader of the Islamic world.  Iran’s government basically claims that the purpose of its revolution in the 1970s (that over-through the Shaw of Iran) was intended to set the stage for the emergence of an Islamic leader, the Imam Mahdi, to rise up and have the rest of the Islamic world unite behind Iran.  This is simply not going to happen.  It is likely that the appeal to another version of the false Gospel of Barnabas is intended to rally Iran’s people (and other Muslims) behind Iran’s goal of Islamic conquest.  A goal that will not happen as the leadership of Iran currently hopes for.

Yet, while scripture shows that much of the Islamic world will unite, this confederation will not be uniting behind Iran.  The final prophesied King of the South (Daniel 11:40) will be from the Middle East or North Africa, but not Iran.

Watch (Mark 13:37).

Vatican Publishes Rules on Marian Apparitions

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

COGwriter

The Vatican decided to publish guidelines about Marian apparitions and other such “revelations”:

May 24, 2012

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — To help bishops determine the credibility of alleged Marian apparitions, the Vatican has translated and published procedural rules from 1978 that had previously been available only in Latin…

The doctrinal office “believes it is now opportune to publish these ‘Norms,’ providing translations in the principle languages” so as to “aid the pastors of the Catholic Church in their difficult task of discerning presumed apparitions, revelations, messages or, more generally, extraordinary phenomena of presumed supernatural origin,” the cardinal wrote in a note…Cardinal Levada wrote that he hoped the norms “might be useful to theologians and experts in this field of the lived experience of the church, whose delicacy requires an ever-more thorough consideration.”

More than 1,500 visions of Mary have been reported around the world, but in the past century only nine cases have received church approval as worthy of belief…Pope Benedict XVI has reaffirmed that the church never requires the faithful to believe in apparitions, not even those recognized by the church…Church approval of a private revelation, in essence, is just the church’s way of saying the message is not contrary to the faith or morality…  http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1202151.htm

The current pope is known for having severe doubts about some of the relatively few “approved” apparitions.  And as the above shows, the approval by the Church of Rome is only limited to message contents and does not mean that the Vatican actually endorses that an Apparition of Mary, for one example, has truly occurred.

One of my concerns is that the next pope will probably differ greatly from Pope Benedict XVI on this.  If the next pope is the last pope (and he would be if certain Catholic prophecies are correct; and he could be because of biblical prophecies related to God’s 6,000 year plan), according to certain Marian Catholic prophecies, he likely would promote the acceptance of one or more Marian apparitions as valid.

The reality, which can be verified from the Bible, as well as my book Fatima Shock! What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions (and it goes into more specific detail about the apparitions than the Bible does as it does not ever refer to any future apparition being Mary), is that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, has not publicly appeared to any despite various claims to the contrary.

Tens of millions of people visit sites of various alleged Marian apparitions each year–because of this, people are more likely to accept future apparitions as being from God.  And, at least for Fatima, what was actually seen differs from what apparently hundreds of millions of people believe was seen–enough so, that multiple millions would not believe in that apparition if they actually knew the truth (a picture of what people think was seen as well as what was really seen is in the book Fatima Shock!, along with the actual original descriptions).

Demonic apparitions, which the apparition seers have tended to falsely identify as Mary, have played an important role in the advancement of the Church of Rome and against the Church of God.  Very few seem to know the truth about how “Marian apparitions” have impacted the professing Christian world.

Those who have so far read Fatima Shock! have told me that they were shocked to learn what they did as they had not realized the importance or details about the apparitions that zealous Christians would want to know.

How apparitions are likely to affect the world at the end seems to be a missing dimension in understanding prophecy by most who profess Christ.  Although Dr. Meredith of the Living Church of God has warned about the sorcery of  “Lady of the Kingdoms” in Isaiah 47 affecting end times, relatively few in the Church of God truly understand how important it is to better know the truth about that “Lady.”  The dangers, and even more details, are covered in my book Fatima Shock! What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions.

Fatima Shock! also, and mainly from Catholic writings, exposes where the “rosary” came from, where many “dogmas of Mary” came from, and explains how Satan has used “Marian” apparitions in the past to interfere with the Church of God and to promote  “Counterfeit Christianity.” Fatima Shock! also explains what appears to be Satan’s plans for apparitions in the future based upon biblical and other prophecies.

Fatima Shock! is available at www.fatimashock.com; Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Fatima-Shock-Truth-Future-Apparitions/dp/0984087176/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1336687621&sr=8-3); AmazonKindle (http://www.amazon.com/Fatima-Shock-ebook/dp/B0081APXBC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336687621&sr=8-1); Barnes & Noble Nook (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/fatima-shock-bob-thiel/1110624059?ean=2940014385640).

All interested in the truth should follow the Apostle Peter’s admonition, “always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks” (1 Peter 3:15). Learn the real truth to be able to answer those who point to non-biblical signs and wonders. Do you want to really know the documented truth?

Fatima Shock! provides concerned Christians enough Catholic-documented facts needed to effectively counter every false Marian argument.

If you want a deeper understanding of these matters than can be covered in news posts, you should read Fatima Shock!

CGPFKG’s Ron Weinland Calls for Unity and Still Claims Nuclear Attack and Jesus’ Return in the Next Three Days

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

VS.

COGwriter

Oddly CGPFK/CGPKG’s Ronald Weinland is still publicly hanging on to his false positions and posted the following last night:

The good news is that God is going to reunite His Church into a single organized body once again. It will begin to happen in only a couple of days and the potential number of previously baptized members (before the apostasy in 1994) that God is going to grant this opportunity to is 63,000…

Having said all this, as it has been said so many times before over the past 14 years, we have now come to the end and Jesus Christ is now going to return on May 27th. This event will catch the whole world off guard—even the Church that was scattered. But it will afford a great opportunity to 63,000 baptized people who were scattered after the apostasy to once again be reunited as God’s Church into a single organized body and to be given opportunity to live on into the new millennial age of Christ’s rule on earth.

The very fact that people have not received the “sign” of Christ’s coming being the events of II Thessalonians 2 is the very reason they have not received what was to follow just before the return of Jesus Christ. It is the story contained in Revelation about God sending His two end-time witnesses (and prophets) who would lead His Church up to the very moment of Christ’s coming. We are NOW there! The job of God’s two witnesses is nearly complete.

Christ’s coming is at hand, and it is just as God said it would be: “But as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the coming of the Son of man.  For as in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and they did not know until the flood came, and took them all away. So shall it also be in the coming of the Son of man” (Mat. 24:37-39).

It will be the same right up until nuclear weapons begin to be used on the earth. An automatic response of nations will spark immediate retaliation to real or imagined enemies. Such events will be so rapid and have the potential of being so devastating that God must quickly intervene by stopping it as He sends His Son back to this earth to become King of kings…

Thank God the millennial reign of Jesus Christ has now come. Thank God that the resurrection of the Holy Roman Empire is so short lived.  That system is perfectly described in the Book of Daniel as iron mixed with clay. It is strong in phases of its construction and power, but not held together by anything that fully binds it as one. This describes ten nations who form the nucleus of the European Union today. Yet this union will only experience power together for one hour. It arises quickly as one and is brought to an end as quickly as it arose: “And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet, but receive power as kings one hour with the beast” (Rev. 17:12)…

The final event that is coming upon God’s Church that was scattered is one they all will come to personally experience and cannot deny—for all other warnings, pleas, and admonitions have been denied and ignored. Nuclear war cannot be denied!

As a final posting I am also informing all readers that a final prerecorded sermon will be posted on the Church site that can be used this Sabbath.

Of course, instead of teaching that God is going to unify 63,000 of His people in a couple of days is nonsense.  As is the claim that Jesus is coming May 27, 2012, that massive nuclear war is in a couple of days, and the incredibly short emergence of the Holy Roman Beast Empire (non-reign in Weinland’s actuality, in contrast to others scriptures like Daniel 7:24-25).

I do like his statement, “Nuclear war cannot be denied!”  The truth is that lack of a massive nuclear war in a couple of days should also not be denied by Ronald Weinland when it does not happen.  How might he spin this? (Presuming he does not completely publicly repent, he will likely spiritualize this away somehow.  If he leaves the USA, might there be a chance he might mock all who followed him as well as those who reported about him for taking him at all seriously?  Of course, he does have tremendous public scorn for those of us who try to report the truth about him already.)

Ronald Weinland’s Sabbath plan is that his followers are apparently stay in their homes and listen to his prerecorded sermon.   No matter how he tries to spin this, Jesus is not coming by Sunday, the millennium is not coming in a couple of days, and people will notice that the world will not have had the massive nuclear destruction needed to kill a third of mankind.  And it is not likely that 63,000 Christians will unify (this last one at least, is not actually biblically-prohibited, like several of his other statements are)–and no way 63,000 real Christians will unify under Ronald Weinland’s leadership this week.

Since he called his 5/23/12 post his “final posting,” does that mean that Ronald Weinland will not post anything once he is again proven wrong?  Perhaps, he will admit mistakes and post again–that should be the minimum he does for his followers.

The following scripture should suffice to dissuade his followers to support him by Sunday, if they have any real faith in scripture:

21 “And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?’– 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).

His supporters really need to believe the Bible more than Ronald Weinland.

Some articles of possible interest related to prophecy may include:

Concerns About Ronald Weinland’s Church of God-Preparing for the Kingdom of God Ronald Weinland falsely claims to be one of the two witnesses God is raising up, that the Great Tribulation began on December 14, 2008, and that Jesus will return on May 27, 2012. Why does the Bible show that Ron Weinland is a false prophet? Why do Ronald Weinland’s own statements prove that he is a false prophet? Obama Somewhat Proclaimed New Age of Peace

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

COGwriter

US President Obama spoke at the Air Force Academy today and made a statement that was of interest:’

23 May 2012

“For a decade, we have labored under the dark cloud of war. Now, we can see the light of a new day on the horizon,” the president said, speaking on a stage in the middle of the academy’s football field with the cadets, dressed in blue and white uniforms, seated in rows before him.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-touts-american-exceptionalism-end-of-wars-in-air-force-graduation-speech/2012/05/23/gJQANN2zkU_story.html

Others seem to believe that the US mainstream media wants to promote the idea that Barack Obama is ushering in an age of peace:

The mainstream media propaganda machine for the Obama Administration has shifted into high gear.

The New York Times, which used to be a newspaper, has announced a new age of peace and goodwill in international relations…This is not journalism, but a generous contribution to Obama’s reelection campaign.  http://www.thenewstribe.com/2012/05/02/obama-is-getting-even-better-every-day-every-way/#.T71sH1KE7uY

Barack Obama and/or his Administration have fulfilled at least ten-eleven predictions in my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect.

Barack Obama’s own statement today, “Now, we can see the light of a new day” without war, is starting to align with another one (the “light of a new day” without war sounds an awful lot like the “dawn” of peace).  For example, notice the following few quotes from my book:

The reality is that more than one false time of peace will be declared relatively soon…

The Bible is also clear that while God wants people to pray for peace (Psalm 122:6), that it is God, and not humankind, who will bring peace to earth…

When a flood does NOT destroy the planet in 2012, some who are Hindu, Buddhist, New Age, and even ecumenically-inclined Catholic will likely claim that their hoped for “age of peace” is dawning, because if anything, that is what some will claim the Mayan 2012 calendar really represented.  Hence, many are likely to accept the coming ecumenical religion…Some will likely claim 2012 is the dawn of a time of peace.

This peaceful age is shown in the Bible to come from God intervening and stopping the world from destroying itself after that vain and false leader has risen up…

While a true age of peace is coming, some might erroneously conclude that it starts in 2012 or 2013 or shortly later—but it will not.  It cannot.

What many people do not realize is that one of the main points for some related to the Mayans and the year 2012 is that many associated with the New Age Movement, as well as others with similar hopes, believe that if the Mayans were forecasting anything, that they were forecasting that an age of peace would start to dawn when their current long-count calendar ended.

When the world does not end this year, some will be proclaiming that an age of peace is about to dawn.  The Bible, instead, warns in several places (e.g. Ezekiel 13:10-16) of false proclamations of peace.

In the same speech today, US President Obama also said:

“As we’ve done the work of ending these wars, we’ve laid the foundation for a new era of American leadership,” Obama said. “Let’s start by putting aside the tired notion that says our influence has waned, that America is in decline.”…

“Never bet against the United States,” he said, adding that “the United States has been, and will always be, the one indispensable nation in world affairs. This is one of the many examples of why America is exceptional.”

Obama even repeatedly employed the same phrase, “American Century,” that Romney used in a speech at the Citadel in South Carolina last October.

As one who lives in the USA, that on the surface sounds nice, but the reality is that the USA is in spiritual decline, moral decline, and economic decline.  And the Bible teaches that those that approve of certain policies that the US President approves of, specifically like related to homosexuality, are risking “the righteous judgment of God” (Romans 1:18-32).

There is no nation that the God of the Bible declares as “indispensable” quite as Barack Obama has stated.  Notice one biblical statement:

5 Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket,
And are counted as the small dust on the scales;
Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing.  (Isaiah 40:15)

As far as his and Mitt Romney’s statements that this is to be the “American Century,” presuming that both of them mean that in a good way, they are sadly mistaken.  The USA will be taken over and destroyed this century according to a variety of biblical prophecies (e.g. Daniel 11:39).

American (and other) politicians really need to pay better attention to the Bible and not offer false hope or false peace.

Ancient Bethlehem Evidence Found

Bethlehem (Painting, 1882)

COGwriter

Archaeologists have found some evidence of the existence of ancient Bethlehem:

Archaeologists uncover proof that Bethlehem existed centuries pre-Jesus
Reuters – May 23, 2012

Israeli archaeologists said on Wednesday they had discovered the first physical evidence supporting Old Testament accounts of Bethlehem’s existence centuries before the town became revered as the birthplace of Jesus. The proof came, they said, in a clay seal unearthed near the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem and imprinted with three lines of ancient Hebrew script that include the word “Bethlehem”…“This is the first time the name Bethlehem appears outside the Bible in an inscription from the First Temple period,” Shukron said in a statement, referring to the years 1006 BC to 586 BC.

The coin-sized remnant of the seal proves that Bethlehem – first mentioned in the Book of Genesis – “was indeed a city in the Kingdom of Judah, and possibly also in earlier periods”, he said.  http://photoblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/23/11827994-archaeologists-uncover-proof-that-bethlehem-existed-centuries-pre-jesus?lite

Of course, those of us who believe the Bible, knew that Bethlehem existed for a long time.

As we get closer to the end, it is interesting that archeologists continue to find more evidence of biblical peoples, places, figures, and events.

The name “Bethlehem” is mentioned 49 times in the Bible (NKJV).

The first place that it is mentioned in the Bible is in the Book of Genesis:

19 So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). (Genesis 35:19)

One of its most famous mentions is in the following prophecy related to the coming of Jesus:

2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.”
3 Therefore He shall give them up,
Until the time that she who is in labor has given birth;
Then the remnant of His brethren
Shall return to the children of Israel.
4 And He shall stand and feed His flock
In the strength of the Lord,
In the majesty of the name of the Lord His God;
And they shall abide,
For now He shall be great
To the ends of the earth;
5 And this One shall be peace. (Micah 5:2-5)

Of course, Bethlehem is mentioned in the New Testament. Here are a few quotes:

1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”   3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.  5 So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:

6 ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
Are not the least among the rulers of Judah;
For out of you shall come a Ruler
Who will shepherd My people Israel.'”   (Matthew 2:1-6)

4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:4-7)

Although Jesus was born in Bethlehem as scripture teaches, many erroneously believe He was born in a particular grotto/cave, that really was not possible (for details, please see Was Jesus Born in the Grotto of the Nativity?).  Basically, although the sun-god Mithras was born in a cavern/grotto (see also Do You Practice Mithraism?), the cavern/grotto that many claimed Jesus was born in does not seem to square with the details of his place of birth as explained in the Bible.

But of course, Jesus was born in Bethlehem, and Bethlehem did anciently exist.  And now, there is earlier archaeological evidence that confirms Bethlehem existence as taught in the Bible.

The Bible has proven trustworthy and will again (certain “traditions” though supposedly related to it are another matter).

CGPFKG’s Ronald Weinland’s Newly Published Plan

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

VS.

COGwriter

The transcript of CGPFK/CGPKG’s Ronald Weinland’s sermon of May 12, 2012 has finally been published electronically online, and in it, is the following:

A lot of questions keep coming up because of where we are in time, and again, it’s an incredible thing
thinking about where we are…

But questions have come up about the 26th and the 25th…and the 27th is pretty well set.  But we think of different times. We know that what’s going to happen is going to happen at Jerusalem time; not Australia, not New Zealand, although the day starts there as far as the world is concerned. As far as God is concerned it starts in Jerusalem and when Jesus Christ begins His return it’ll be at the end of the Sabbath before Pentecost comes, right at the very end. Don’t know exactly how it’s going to transpire but we believe those things, we understand those things. And so questions come up about different ones, because in… I don’t know what the time between here and Jerusalem is – one hour. So what is it, 7:30ish before Pentecost begins in Jerusalem, it’ll be 6:30ish – somewhere around there – on the Sabbath. You’ll be almost to the end of your Sabbath. In the States, in the eastern time zone it’s around 12:36. So anyway, people are thinking about what do we do on that day? And I’ve made some comments about whether or not to get together and as I had mentioned in the United States, we’re not going to have services in our normal locations, we’re going to have people pretty much stay in their own home areas. If some want to get together in some areas I’m not going to say you can’t. You have to decide for yourselves because wherever you go, as one example here, someone was asking about getting together on the 26th and wanted to ask about it, they said that some live 40-50 miles away and they were planning on getting together even that night of the 25th, and that’s fine. But please understand, those who live 40-50 miles away you may not get back… that’s Los Angeles. Your car may not work. I don’t know what’s going to happen and where it’s going to happen. It’s not going to be a nice time. We thought this could have started at the very beginning of what’s referred to as the ‘great tribulation’, understanding that’s about the Church now, far more so, which we’ve always understood, but as far as the world was concerned we haven’t understood fully because it’s in God’s timing, how He does it. And what’s going to take place, especially with Russia and China and what they finally do, it says they destroy a third of the earth. That’s very clear language. They destroy a third of all the earth. And the United States is not going to escape that, Great Britain is not going to escape that, Europe is not going to escape that. So there are some cities in some places that aren’t going to be a great place to be in some respects. That’s just the way it is. I don’t know where they are – God hasn’t told me those things – I’m not a fortune teller. Sometimes people think I should know everything – No, I don’t. God has given me an outline of prophetic things as far as the Bible is concerned; we have that outline that we’ve had for so long. How it’s going to all transpire…? We understand some of that as far as tribulation and what that means for us now. It’s going to be right up to the end. I understand. I understand more deeply now than ever before it can be in the last hour of the day!

Of course, instead of teaching that the destruction of the USA and much of the world can happen in the last literal hour before Jesus is to return is nonsense.  So, his plan is that they stay in their homes.  I suspect that many of them will decide to talk to each other this Sabbath when the return does not happen, and perhaps next Sabbath to console themselves when Ron Weinland is again clearly proven wrong.

Now, as far as the initial “We” in Ron Weinland’s 5/12/12 statement that I bolded above, it is not “We,” but “He” who claimed such nonsense.   Ronald Weinland claimed that God revealed the “truth” to him that the Great Tribulation was to begin on December 14, 2008, and he has insisted since then he was right.

And getting back to his May 12, 2012 falsehood that everything could happen the last literal hour before Jesus returns, recall that in his sermon March 12, 2011, Ronald Weinland instead stated the following:

So, if I’m not a prophet I’ll reason with you accordingly and be open with you about it…

So often for those who do not believe that I’m a prophet, the question is asked, “What will you do if these things do not come to pass?” And I’m going to answer that more fully in this particular sermon today…

So again, some cannot wait for me to say that I am not a prophet, or to say that I am a false prophet. Indeed, no one has long to wait do they? Isn’t that amazing? May 27, 2012 is not too far away and if Europe hasn’t risen by early 2012 and if China does not begin destroying the earth before that date, then the reality would be manifest much sooner, obviously. You don’t have to wait until 2012.

As far as the question they ask; what would I do? Well, first I’d repent before God and the Church. I’d acknowledge my sin and pray that God have mercy upon me for being so horribly  presumptuous.  Candidly (and some are going to really hate hearing this), I’d deeply repent of all those things that concern prophecies that I have given in the office of a prophet BUT I’d seek to hold fast to all that I believe with all my being to be true concerning the word of God. I would begin to go back through all 57 Truths (and I’d hope others would do exactly the same thing), IF… just to be open about it. I’d go back through all 57 Truths and eliminate those that are shown to be untrue, repenting as I did so; but I would hold fast to all that I believed to be true. (Weinland R. A Final Plea, With Judgment – Pt. 1. March 12, 2011)

China has not yet destroyed the USA as he claimed.  Ronald Weinland also claimed in 2008 that if the USA was not nuked by the summer of the same year that he would admit that he was a false prophet.  So when in March 2011, he claimed that he would be truthful this time if he is proven to be false–which he once again was (and of course, those that look to scripture above his words will recognize that he is already proven to be false)–he failed to keep his word.

Instead of publicly repenting after entering the year 2012 as his 3/12/11 predictions had not happened, he posted the following:

As a matter of other dates that God revealed to me, through Jesus Christ, it was given earlier that Trumpets of 2008 was the beginning of the 1335 day count in the Book of Daniel that leads up to the return of Jesus Christ on May 27, 2012. The day of Christ’s return is on Pentecost which pictures the 144,000 who will return with him to reign on earth, and the beginning of this announcement to the Church was on Trumpets (2008) which announces the coming of the Messiah as King of kings. How awesome is that to understand?   (Weinland R.  Seventy Weeks Prophecy.  Online letter, January 12, 2012)

Cannot his followers see his blatant errors and refusal to again publicly repent?

Of course, the facts have not stopped those who still follow him (they have stopped some from following him in the past and hopefully when Jesus does not return on May 27, 2012, most of his current followers will wake up to the truth).

For those unfamiliar with him, Ronald Weinland was a minister in the old old Worldwide Church of God, then he was in the United Church of God for a while. Since then, he has been on his own. He claims that he is one of the two witnesses and that his wife is the other one. After first insisting that the Great Tribulation began on April 17, 2008, he later insisted that the Great Tribulation began on December 14, 2008 and that Jesus will return on May 27, 2012 (these are his last published dates). The Great Tribulation has most definitely not yet started (we seem to be in the time period that Jesus referred to as “the beginning of sorrows” Matthew 24:8), and Jesus most definitely will not be returning on May 27, 2012. So, when he is wrong then (if not before), Ronald Weinland will either repent, spiritualize away the non-return of Jesus, try to stay out of the USA (he is under investigation for income tax issues by the US government and he travels outside of the USA frequently), and/or claim to have received a new “revelation” or “truth” that gives humanity more time or something to that effect.

His income tax issue made the news last night:

COVINGTON — Internet-based minister Ronald Weinland prophesized the beginning of the end of the world will be Sunday. His attorney doesn’t want that theory to come into play in the minister’s tax evasion case.

Lawyer Robert Webb was in federal court on Monday making final preparations for his client’s trial on tax evasion charges that is set to begin June 4 in Covington. Prosecutors claim Ronald Weinland, 62, of Union, diverted money from his ministry, Church of God – Preparing for the Kingdom of God.

Webb is trying to prevent federal prosecutors from using Weinland’s religious beliefs or opinions to attack his credibility during trial…

The indictment claims he evaded $357,065 in taxes from 2004 through 2008. Some money was transferred to a Swiss bank, according to court records.

There is also disagreement on whether recordings of Weinland’s sermons can be played for the jury. McBride wants to limit use of the recordings.

 http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=%2FAB%2F20120522%2FNEWS010704%2F305210122%2F

So, Ron Weinland’s attorney seems to believe that Weinland’s prophetic views will cause him credibility problems and does not want that to be introduced as evidence–so this is another part of Weinland’s plan.

Irrespective of what happens in court, Ronald Weinland has claimed about himself in the past:

God will reveal who His two witnesses are regardless of whether people choose to believe them or not! God will increasingly give more proof of His spokesman as prophecies unfold exactly as they are recorded in this book

The question about how God has revealed His truth to me is a fair one. The answer that I am who I say I am will be given by the events described in both books coming true exactly as I have described. (Weinland R. 2008: God’s Final Witness, pp. 89-90,111)

The events described in his books have not came true as he described them, so instead he tries to “spiritualize away” more and more of the details. We simply have not been in the Great Tribulation for the past 3 1/2 years, yet Ronald Weinland’s followers seem willing to believe the opposite. Have they not read Matthew 24? Surely most have, but apparently have accepted Ron Weinland’s explanation that the actual details Jesus mentioned do not mean what they say.

The last post at his “personal” website from Ron Weinland starts out with:

As readers of this site know, May 27, 2012, is the time that I have stated as being the date Jesus Christ will return as King of kings over all government on this earth. For such an event to come to pass, the Trumpets of Revelation must all sound, the United States and dollar collapse, the ten nations of Europe arise to fulfill the final revival of the Holy Roman Empire, and Russia with China must unite against Europe in WWIII.

And, that of course, will not happen this week, so he will need to come up with a new plan, presuming his word is no good and he does not repent and stop preaching.

I have denounced Ronald Weinland as a false prophet for over six years. And for every detail I have denounced, I have been right and he wrong. Cannot his followers see that he is not one of God’s two witnesses?

Since he is clearly wrong, why report about him still? Well, because of the fact that he is still claiming that Jesus will return in this month, some people are at least looking into him again (though not nearly as many who followed Harold Camping’s false prediction for Jesus’ return on May 21, 2011). Hopefully, I can reach some now so that they will not be overly distraught when Jesus does not return on May 27, 2012.

The following scripture should suffice, to dissuade his followers, but it has not yet for those still with him:

21 “And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?’– 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).

His supporters really need to believe the Bible more than Ronald Weinland.

Perhaps his existing supporters will learn what they should either now or by the end of May not continue to allow Ronald Weinland and/or others like him to string them along.  Sadly, many still will likely let Ronald Weinland string them along further, presuming he is still around and claims more time or some other false “new truth.”

A few articles of possible interest related to prophecy may include:

Concerns About Ronald Weinland’s Church of God-Preparing for the Kingdom of God Ronald Weinland falsely claims to be one of the two witnesses God is raising up, that the Great Tribulation began on December 14, 2008, and that Jesus will return on May 27, 2012. IMF Advises QE Inflation for Britain’s Pound, EU Proposing Political Babylon

IMF tells UK to consider rate cut to boost growth

BBC – May 22, 2012

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said the UK’s continuing economic weakness means authorities should consider more quantitative easing (QE) and even cutting interest rates.

Its annual look at the UK economy endorsed the government’s deficit cutting plan, saying it was essential. But it said if growth failed to pick up, the government would have to consider delaying cuts.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18158226

The Bible seems to warn that the USA and likely the UK will have problems with their currencies, etc. because of massive borrowing (cf. Habakkuk 2).  Quantitative easing is basically an underhanded way of borrowing and setting a currency up for massive inflation.

All the nations of the European Union are facing various issues related to national sovereignty.   And while the UK is one of them, ultimately, it will lose not only its sovereignty, but pretty much everything.

Partially because of the problems in Greece, the European Commission itself has publicly stated that it will propose something that I feel is of possible prophetic interest:

EU commission to outline plans for political union
EUobserver – May 22, 2012

The European Commission has said it will soon bring forward plans for an economic and political union it says is necessary for the creation of debt-mutualising eurobonds – one of the most controversial proposed solutions to the current eurozone crisis.”We need to reflect what kind of European union would be required to deepen economic and political integration, for instance so that joint issuance of debt would make sense for all member states sharing the single currency,” economics commissioner Olli Rehn told MEPs on Tuesday (22 May).

He said the commission would “soon” come up with a “medium to long term roadmap” outlining the necessary deeper fiscal and economic integration that would minimise moral hazard – member states running up debt because they know it will be paid by others – and ensure “fiscal sustainability.”

Stocks Slump, Papademos Says Greek Exit Risk is ‘Real’

Wall Street Journal – May 22, 2012
The Dow was up 50 points at 3 p.m., then these headlines hit Dow Jones Newswires:
*DJ Former Greek PM Papademos: Risk Of Greece Leaving Euro Is Real
*DJ Papademos: Preparations For Greece Euro Exit Are Being Considered
The news drove down the euro, which yoked the Dow with it. Incidentally, the Dow’s high for the day was set before noon, and the index started sliding a little before 3 p.m. So while the Papademos headlines clearly had an effect, certainly on the euro, the stock market here in New York was already running out of steam. http://blogs.wsj.com/marketbeat/2012/05/22/stocks-slump-papademos-says-greek-exit-risk-is-real/?mod=google_news_blog

Additional fiscal (cf. Revelation 13:16-17) and political union is prophesied for the end time Babylonian beast power (Revelation 17:12-13).

National sovereignty will be lost:

12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-14)

Yet, having problems related to fiscal and national sovereignty issues is consistent with other aspects of Bible prophecy related to end time Europe (Daniel 2:41-43).  Herbert W. Armstrong, in a sermon on July 7, 1984, opined:

And I can see now, the event that is going to trigger the formation of the reunification in Europe; the resurrection of the medieval Holy Roman Empire that we’ve been looking forward to that is prophesied to come…

But I believe that some event is going to happen suddenly just like out a blue sky that is going to shock the whole world and is going to cause the nations in Europe to realize they must unite! … Well now I think I can see what may be the very event that is going to trigger…that is the economic situation in the world

Today’s comments from the European Commission are consistent with what Herbert Armstrong taught.

Europe, itself, has tended to have similarities to the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11 (see EU’s Fragile Tower of Babel) and sometimes has used it as a reference as the poster at the beginning of this article shows. The term Babylon seems to derive from Babel and the Bible indicates that the end time Babylon will be European (cf. Revelation 17).  Here some of what Herbert W. Armstrong wrote about some of this in  1948:

Her name is BABYLON THE GREAT—and she is the daughter of the ancient Babylon. Her doctrines and rituals and traditions and forms ARE THE VERY PAGANISM of the ancient Babylon, but masquerading UNDER CHRISTIAN-SOUNDING NAMES ! Thus, once this EMPIRE is revived in Europe – AND BY UNITED STATES HELP AT THAT—so gullible are we and dull of UNDERSTANDING!—the new-born Fascist-Nazi military power will without warning DESTROY AMERICAN AND BRITISH CITIES OVERNIGHT WITH ATOMIC BOMBS, conquering our peoples, taking our survivors to Europe as THEIR SLAVES! (Armstrong HW. Now it Can Be Told.  The Plain Truth magazine. December 1948, p. 6)

According to Bible prophecy, a European power, despite its fragility (Daniel 2:41-43), is destined to temporarily be the most dominant force in the world (Revelation 13:4), ultimately conquer the Anglo-descended nations (it is the USA and its Anglo-allies like the UK that have the strongest fortresses of Daniel 11:39), and later come to its end (Daniel 11:45). This power will be affiliated with the final “Babylon” (Revelation 17 & 18).

The fact that national sovereignty continues to be a subject of debate for Europe, indicates that many believe that it is being lost or will be lost. Despite what will seem to be temporary setbacks, the Bible prophecies that national sovereignty in Europe clearly will be lost.

Cardinal: White House is Strangling the Catholic Church

The Church of Rome is complaining about problems with the USA White House:

Dolan: White House is “strangling” Catholic church

(CBS News) The spat between Catholic leaders and the Obama administration over its contraception policies is heating up again, with one of the nation’s most prominent Catholic leaders charging that the White House is “strangling” the church over the matter.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan told “CBS This Morning” Tuesday that the compromise reached earlier this year is not sufficient because the exemptions made for churches are too restrictive.

“They tell us if you’re really going be considered a church, if you’re going to be really exempt from these demands of the government, well, you have to propagate your Catholic faith and everything you do, you can serve only Catholics and employ only Catholics,” Dolan said.

“We’re like, wait a minute, when did the government get in the business of defining for us the extent of our ministry,” Dolan said.  http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505267_162-57438959/dolan-white-house-is-strangling-catholic-church/?tag=stack

Catholic groups take fight against Obama birth-control rules to court

Some 43 Catholic groups including Notre Dame are attempting to block rules in the new health-care law that require health insurance to provide access to birth-control services…

Catholic organizations objected to the rules, arguing that they placed religious employers in the untenable position of subsidizing a mode of conduct that would violate their religious teachings and moral values.

“We have tried negotiation with the Administration and legislation with Congress – and we’ll keep at it – but there’s still no fix. Time is running out,” said Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York, president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, in a statement applauding the litigation.  http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2012/0521/Catholic-groups-take-fight-against-Obama-birth-control-rules-to-court

Catholic suit against Obama birth control rules…

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, whose New York diocese is among those filing suit, has reason to feel burned by Obama personally; the president had assured him that the exemption would be broad, and instead he got broad-sided. Dolan told the Catholic News Service, “We tried negotiations with the administration…and we’ll keep at it .”…

Several of those on staff at the conference previously worked for conservative interest groups, and a faction of vocal anti-Obama bishops so disdain the president that one recently compared him to Hitler. The bishops conference regularly complains that it doesn’t have high-level access to the White House, but is it any wonder? http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/post/catholic-suit-against-obama-birth-control-rules-both-sides-are-wrong/2012/05/22/gIQAfuYrhU_blog.html

Although I disagree with the Church of Rome theological position about several forms of birth control, I do agree that the government of the USA has gone well beyond its constitutional limits on this issue and should not be requiring the Catholics (or anyone else, including private employers) to violate their beliefs.

The fact that the Catholics have had to file lawsuits against the government of the USA shows that they are a severe odds with the federal government, or at least what the Obama Administration is doing.  This will leave a bad taste in the mouth of the Vatican, and will likely simply be one of many factors to get it to support the ultimate destruction of the USA.  This, BTW, is also consistent with certain private Catholic prophecies.  Here are a few:

Saint Edward (d. 1066) “The extreme corruption and wickedness of the English nation has provoked the just anger of God.  When malice shall have reached the fullness of its measure, God will, in His wrath, send to the English people wicked spirits, who will punish and afflict them with great severity…” (Culleton, p. 137).

Werdin d’ Otrante (13th century): “The Great Monarch and the Great Pope will precede Antichrist…All the sects will vanish. The capital of the world will fall…The Great Monarch will come and restore peace and the Pope will share in the victory.” (Connor, p. 33)

It is possible that Washington D.C. is “the capital of the world” that is prophesied to fall by Werdin d’ Otrante. And Canada is a close ally.

Furthermore, notice:

Zachary the Armenian (published 1854 and summarized in 2010): And then there would be the war that the prophecy refers to as “the struggle of the strong, against the strong”. This empire of the north…will go to war against North America and North America will be fall and be conquered and brought into bondage. The next phase is the most frightful thing of all. It is then that Zachary says this text published in 1854, “and then the whole world fell under the dominion of the first born of hell.” (Originally by Priest Fattecelli, Day of Anger: The Hand of God Upon an Empire, 1854, as paraphrased by Priest P. Kramer, What are the missing contents of the third secret? Fatima Crusader, 95, Summer 2010, pp. 45-46)

North America would clearly include the USA and Canada (the above and other prophecies are in my new book, Fatima Shock! What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions).  Since Zachary is discussing the dominion of the first born son of perdition (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12), the above is clearly teaching that this would happen at the start of the Great Tribulation.  This is consistent with the understanding of the Living Church of God on these matters (though we do not believe that God inspired this Zachary).

Notice two private prophecies that specify Canada (the second is apparently not from a Catholic, but also involves the USA):

Josyp Terelya from the Ukraine while in Marmora Ontario (September 13, 1992 allegedly from a Marian apparition): Pray in this chapel for peace and for love in this country of Canada. People are not aware that the prophesied times are upon them…you are on the threshold of the day of judgment. (Flynn, p. 287)

Alois Irlmaier of Freilassing, Germany (prior to 1959): Suddenly…large naval forces are positioned in a hostile way in the Mediterranean Sea – the situation is tense…Then war breaks out…Meanwhile, the yellow dragon invades Alaska and Canada at the same time. (Araujo, pp. 116-117)

Notice also the following (bolding in the original):

Our blessed Mother through Father Gobbi of the Marion Movement…provided several messages…

On November 15, 1990: Mary spoke about the great trial coming to the United States and for all humanity.  The Blessed Mother specifically mentions the United States will know the hour of weakness and of poverty as well as “the hour of suffering and defeat”.  The thunder of God’s justice will have arrived:

…”…Sins of impurity have become ever more widespread, and immorality has spread like a sea which has submerged all things. Homosexuality, a sin of impurity which is against nature, has been justified; recourse to the means of preventing life have become commonplace, while abortions,–these killings of innocent children–have spread and are performed in all areas of your homeland. The moment of divine justice and of great mercy has now arrived. You will know the hour of weakness and poverty; the hour of suffering and defeat; the purifying hour of the great chastisement…” America will know poverty and defeat! Those are strong statements made by the Virgin herself. (Flynn, pp. 341,342).

Barack Obama, the President of the USA, supports abortion and homosexual marriage.  This is likely also to be held against the USA.

The “hour of trial” that the Bible speaks of (Revelation 3:10) seems to begin with the Great Tribulation, the “time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7) which is likely to begin sometime next decade (see Can the Great Tribulation Begin in 2012, 2013, or 2014?).  Catholic prophecy certainly has prophecies indicating the destruction of the USA in the end time.

Speaking of the role of the Catholic Church of Rome in the end time, in its latest World Ahead Weekly Update, the Living Church of God reported:

Although European instability will likely remain for a time, Bible prophecy indicates that order will ultimately come at least to part of Europe—the part that will be led by a strong Beast power and overseen by the Catholic Church (see Revelation 13 and 17)!

The Bible shows that the King of the North, European Beast power, will ultimately takeover the land of the strongest fortresses (Daniel 11:39)–which currently is the USA.  The late Herbert W. Armstrong warned back in 1948 (the agreement he is referring to at first may not be one known to the general public):

There will be an agreement by which the police of the state will ENFORCE Catholicism upon all citizens inside its jurisdiction. The description of this new superstate is found in Revelation 17, a union of ten nations in Europe. It is pictured as the “BEAST”–which even footnotes in the Catholic Douay Bible admit is THE ROMAN EMPIRE…Thus once this EMPIRE is revived in Europe…the new-born…military power will without warning DESTROY AMERICAN AND BRITISH CITIES OVERNIGHT WITH ATOMIC BOMBS, conquering our peoples, taking our survivors to Europe as THEIR SLAVES! (Armstrong HW. Now it Can Be Told.  The Plain Truth magazine. December 1948, p. 6)

Getting the Church of Rome upset enough to file lawsuits against the government in the USA is simply another step that alienates the Vatican from the USA, and will get it to cooperate more with Europe.  That, combined with biblical and Catholic prophecy, suggests that the Church of Rome will somehow support the destruction of the USA.

The Church of Rome was in the news today, also, for some comments from Pope Benedict XVI:

May-22-2012
Pope tells cardinals, ‘We are on the Lord’s team, the winning team’…

“We are on the Lord’s team, the winning team,” Pope Benedict XVI told members of the College of Cardinals…Pope Benedict told the cardinals he knows the phrase “the church militant” is “a bit out of fashion” today, but it still reflects a truth about the place of a Christian in the world.  http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1202100.htm

Perhaps it should be noted that while the Lord’s team will be the ultimate winning team, the Church of Rome will gain for a while (it believes that Marian apparitions will be a factor for that, see the book Fatima Shock! What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions.), yet it has strayed too much from original Christianity to truly be be on the Lord’s team. And in many senses, is too militant (see Persecutions by Church and State and Military Service and the Churches of God: Do Real Christians Participate in Carnal Warfare?).

While some Catholic positions, such as opposing abortion, are biblical (despite the fact that some popes have supported abortion in the past, for details see Abortion, the Bible, and a Woman’s Right to Choose), most who claim Catholicism have no idea how many doctrines their church has changed from the beliefs held by Jesus, the apostles, and the earliest professors of Christ.  But this can be known by those interested in the documented truth (for details, see the article Which Is Faithful: The Roman Catholic Church or the Living Church of God?).

There will be more of a split between the Church of Rome and the USA in the future.  And that will end up in the destruction of the USA.

Occupy Terrorism Beginning?

Monday, May 21st, 2012

COGwriter

Some in the Occupy Movement are taking actions that some consider to be terroristic:

Occupying Terrorism

Protests: After unleashing a crime wave on U.S. cities, the Occupy movement has descended into actual terrorism, as arrests in Chicago show. This is no longer the work of a fringe, but a shadowy group with political sponsorship.

Three men at the heart of the Occupy movement in Miami were charged Friday with conspiracy to commit terrorism near the NATO summit in Chicago. Mixing up Molotov cocktails, their big plan was to hurl firebombs at Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s home, President Barack Obama’s Chicago campaign headquarters, a police station and various Chicago banks.

“Ever see a cop on fire?” one of the punks asked shortly before he was arrested. After news of that broke, Occupy Chicago took to Twitter to defend the three, calling the arrests state intimidation of “activists.”

It wasn’t the only incident in Chicago: Two other terrorist-wannabes were busted for plotting to make pipe bombs to hurl at the NATO summit.

They may have all been amateurs, but it follows another incident in Cleveland just weeks ago. Three Occupy terrorist-wannabes were caught trying to detonate a bomb on a city bridge. At their arraignment, Occupy protestors showed up in large numbers to support them.

Make no mistake: This is a pattern. Wherever Occupy goes, terrorism follows.

Some in the Occupy Movement are pointing towards the police as the major cause of violence, at least in Chicago:

Anti-NATO protesters occupy Chicago streets again, denounce police brutality

Times of India

Anti-NATO protesters occupied Chicago’s streets Monday, denouncing police brutality a day after clashes with baton-wielding officers led to to around 70 arrests and some significant injuries.

President Barack Obama praised police however, saying they did a “great job” under “some significant pressure and a lot of scrutiny.”

Obama said that while the protests were disruptive to his hometown, they are “part of what America’s about,”

Occupy members accuse police of excessive force‎ WGNtv.com

Protesters were peaceful Monday but angry about Sunday’s clashes with police outside McCormick Place and are now crying police brutality.

The Occupy members from the Chicago area are pointing fingers at Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Police Superintendent McCarthy and now Obama. They say one single phone call from the president could have stopped the violence at the rally sooner. That violence — they claim — was all the Chicago Police Department‘s doing.

For the most part, I do not believe that those in either the Occupy Movement nor the Chicago Police Department want to cause violence.
That being said, those causing or promoting violence are wrong.  And while most associated with the Occupy Movement are not advocating violence, I remain convinced that if this Movement continues, there will be increasing incidents of violence.  What happened in Chicago is consistent with what I have felt would begin to happen related to Occupy (which could be replaced by a more violent movement or set of protestors in the future).

The end-time sorrows and troubles in society are still in the beginning stages (Matthew 24:5-8), and will get much worse according to the Bible (Matthew 24:21-22). I believe that class warfare and other protests will escalate and help weaken the USA, Canada, and their other Anglo-nations and likely will also be a factor in them being vulnerable to real warfare: invasion by the final Beast power that the Bible warns about (Revelation 13; Daniel 11:39).
