In his speech last night, US President Donald Trump said, “we are going to finish the job and we’re going to finish it very fast. We’re getting very close” (https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-transcript-address-iran-war-b5970011fe934dde84d95d650bda56a9).
By “we” he basically meant the United States, and perhaps also Israel. He did not mean the Europeans, whom he has expressed disappointment with.

European media responded to President Donald Trump’s remarks about the United States leaving NATO as an “existential threat” to the 77-year-old security alliance.
Speaking with The Telegraph, a right-of-center British daily newspaper, Trump called the alliance a “paper tiger” and said he was “strongly considering” withdrawing from the 32-nation pact. Trump’s comments come after repeated criticisms of NATO member states for not joining the Israeli- and U.S.-led conflict with Iran.
In the latest developments, Spain, France, and Italy refused U.S. access to their military bases or airspace for military actions against Iran.
“I was never swayed by NATO,” Trump said. “I always knew they were a paper tiger, and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin knows that, too.”
Thirty of 32 NATO member states are in Europe (the U.S. and Canada are the exceptions). Israel is not a member of the alliance.
The Guardian, another U.K. newspaper, said Trump’s remarks represented an “existential threat” that could be the “worst crisis in NATO history.” In Spain, El País said there was “shock and anxiety across Europe.”
Among the European Union’s three largest economies, German media stressed that the Israeli and U.S. bombings of Iranian targets were “not our war” and said it was “correct” for the government to reject U.S. demands for support.
French media pursued a similar line, stressing that NATO was created to assure trans-Atlantic security, not offensive missions in the Middle East. …

The US president has repeatedly railed against Western partners for not responding to his call to assemble a naval force to help reopen the crucial Strait of Hormuz, which has effectively been closed by Tehran.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that US President Donald Trump was undermining NATO by creating “daily doubt about his commitment” to the north Atlantic alliance.
“If you create daily doubt about your commitment, you hollow it out,” Macron said during a state visit to Seoul, adding that there is “too much talk … going off in all directions.”
In a newspaper interview on Wednesday, Trump said that he is considering pulling his country out of NATO, slamming the defence alliance as a “paper tiger”. …
Macron accused Trump of sowing confusion by constantly contradicting himself on the conflict. …
“You have to be serious. When you want to be serious, you don’t say the opposite every day of what you said the day before. And perhaps you shouldn’t talk every day,” Macron said.

The cracks in the NATO alliance continue to appear to be getting larger after more statements and posts by Donald Trump.
1 How lonely sits the city

Notice the one who was “great among the nations” will be conquered by friends, who will become enemies.
The USA was prophesied to be “great” in Genesis 48:19 and is considered by international sources to be great among the nations of the world today.
The USA is repeatedly pushing its NATO allies in Europe away.
More and more in Europe are concluding that they must take their own military steps.

To answer the above question, there are prophecies about a naval encounter between the Europeans and the USA—at first the USA will appear to have won (cf. Daniel 11:30)–but that will not last as the Europeans will defeat the USA soon after per Daniel 11:39.

Europe is in the process of building up its own military through the Permanent Structured Cooperation agreement commonly called PESCO. Is Europe trying to develop an empire? What did former Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt say about the need for a European empire? Are Europeans, as well as the Vatican’s Pope Francis, working towards a European utopia? Is war coming? Will Europe’s plans result in a Mediterranean maritime conflict with the United States of America? Does Daniel 11:30 tell of such a conflict? Is this consistent with a latter days prophecy in Numbers 24? Is the King of the North European? Do Catholic writings confirm the view that there will be a negative naval encounter coming between Europe and the USA or its British-descended allies? That said, as the Der Spiegel hints, Europe will build up its military–this will surprise the world per Revelation 13:1-4.
This will not end well for the USA per Daniel 11:39, and is consistent with Lamentations 1:1-2.
While Europe publicly is still supportive of NATO, in the end Europe will betray the NATO members of the USA, Canada, and UK.
