Mercosur agreement goes into effect: Another COGwriter prediction confirmed!

The EU-Mercosur free-trade deal took provisional effect on Friday despite a legal challenge before the Court of Justice of the European Union.

After more than 25 years of negotiations, the trade deal between the European Union and Mercosur countries — Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay — took provisional effect on Friday.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen pushed ahead with provisional application despite a legal challenge before the Court of Justice of the European Union, effectively sidestepping a parliamentary vote on the deal’s full ratification.

“Provisional application will show the agreement’s tangible benefits,” von der Leyen wrote on X.

“And how legitimate sensitives have been addressed.” …

The agreement eliminates tariffs on a majority of trade between the two sides, therefore creating a free-trade zone of more than 700 million people between the EU and Mercosur countries.

On Thursday, the EU Chief described the deal as “good news for EU businesses of all sizes, good news for our consumers and good news for our farmers, who will gain valuable new export opportunities, with full protection for sensitive sectors.” …

The European Union’s mammoth trade deal with South American bloc Mercosur provisionally enters into force Friday, despite a pending court ruling on its legality.

The agreement to create one of the world’s biggest free-trade zones was sealed in January after more than 25 years of intermittent negotiations.

Together, the EU and Mercosur account for 30% of global GDP and more than 700 million consumers.

The deal, which eliminates tariffs on more than 90% of trade between the two sides, has proven divisive in Europe, with France leading opposition over concerns some of its farmers will be left worse off.

The European Union and South American bloc Mercosur will implement on Friday a contentious free trade agreement that ​the EU in particular hopes will benefit exporters and calm critics, even if it cannot fully offset the blow from U.S. tariffs.

Alongside Mercosur, the EU has ​rushed to conclude trade agreements with India, Indonesia, Australia and Mexico since Trump’s re-election.

The accords help to shore up free trade at a time when Trump’s tariffs and Chinese export curbs on critical minerals undermine a rules-based global order.

While news reports point to 700-800 million people in the EU and Mercosur block, if you add the associated member countries, this is over 1 billion people.

The morning after his reelection, I wrote:

• Pushing tariffs and other policies that foreign nations do not like is contributing to other nations looking to bypass the USA dollar, as well as trade more with each other and less with the USA. And Europe?

Donald Trump’s tariffs, threats, etc. are a major concern for Europe and its trade.

In 2018, I wrote:

The Europeans have been working with Latin America, China, Russia’s Eurasian Union, and other areas of the world to try to set up its dominance of world trade as well as standards for world trade. (19 items to prophetically watch in 2019)

Such deals have been happening. But expect more concrete action, at least partially because of the reelection of Donald Trump, along with J.D. Vance.

Europe will reach out to various ones in Asia and Africa, as well as Latin America. In the next several years, deals and more trade will occur with Africa, Asia, Mexico, and South America. …

While ‘Babylon’ will not fully reign in 2026, with the USA pulling out of trade deals and/or wishing to change them, steps are occurring that are pushing Europe to dominate trade (watch Trade Wars: Are COG warnings coming to pass?).

Expect Europe to reach out to various Gentile nations in Asia, Africa, South America, and elsewhere to make trade deals.

The final time of the Gentiles is approaching. We are seeing BRICS, the Global South, the EU, and others working on ways to trade and not have to deal with the descendants of Ephraim (UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) and Manasseh (the USA).

The Europeans will work with many nations to secure stronger trade agreements.

The Europeans are doing this, and Southeast Asia, India, Africa, and Latin America/Mercosur are all part of the Global South.

Properly understood biblical prophecies are coming to pass.

What I predicted was the the re-election of Donald Trump would motivate the Europeans to agree to the trade deal with Mercosur. That has happened.

I also predicted that the Europeans would seek other trade deals–that also has happened and is happening.
