The cybercurrency Ripple is investigating setting up Central Bank Digital Currencies for governments:

Former director of developer relations at Ripple, Matt Hamilton, has revealed that the crypto company is currently working on private versions of the XRP Ledger code for CBDC, the so-called “state cryptocurrencies.” At the moment, however, these versions have not been launched as the regulatory framework for CBDC is still under development, says the developer. https://u.today/ripple-works-on-private-xrp-ledger-for-cbdc-says-ex-executiv
The rise of cryptocurrencies, like Ripple, along with the desire to control buying and selling, as well as domestic concerns, are pushing central banks in that direction.
Digital currencies mean that governments can not only monitor what you buy or sell, they can also prevent you from being able to buy or sell.
The European Central Bank (ECB) is likely to have that in place in less than 5 years.
What is particularly interesting about Ripple being involved is that Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg has had involvement with that company.

The “mark of the beast” scripture is from the Book of Revelation which makes the following statements concerning the financial controls of the coming Beast power:
16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18)
The Bible is clear that the time is coming when the Beast power will have implemented some type of strong financial control–blockchain technology may very well be part of it. (Watch also Sweden going to ‘666’ cashlessness?)
The Bible shows that Europe will ultimately turn to a ‘strongman’ of its own in Revelation 17:12-13 (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?)–one who is able to monitor buying and selling.
This may very well be someone like Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg.
Here are 11 speculative predictions I have posted over the years related to Herr Guttenberg that have been at least partially fulfilled:
- He has advocated more European military cooperation.
- He became unpopular for a time (and still is among many).
- He ended up, for a time, outside of political office.
- He went out of the limelight for a while.
- He went into exile (self-imposed).
- His exile was to a humid location.
- People laughed at him.
- He has partially re-emerged in European politics.
- He has called for Germany to consider being a leader in data protection.
- He now has a beard.
- His early involvement with Ripple and blockchain could be setting him up to help fulfill Revelation 13:15-18.
Several of those predictions were based upon my understanding of prophecies in the books of Daniel and Revelation, plus outside sources (see also Might German Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg become the King of the North?).
While these 11 speculative predictions do NOT prove that he is going to be the final King of the North European Beast power, he still bears watching.

American Express just announced a deal with Ripple related to using its blockchain technology. No longer confined to Bitcoin, blockchain technology is moving towards the mainstream. Former German Economic and later Defense Minister, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg has long been an adviser to Ripple and has plans for internationally-expanding the use of blockchain money. Jim Rickards, Doug Casey, and others have expressed concerns that blockchain money will give governments too much control over buying and selling. Could any of this be related to biblical prophecies in the Books of Daniel and Revelation? Could any of this help fulfill the prophecies related to buying and selling and 666 in Revelation 13? Will Bitcoin remain unregulated? The European Union does not think it should be and it released a paper titled “Proposal for EU Regulation on Markets in Crypto-Assets.” Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, earlier endorsed EU regulation of crypto and digital currencies. A Belgian declared that the EU was the “new Sheriff in town” to deal with the “wild west” of Bitcoin, blockchain, and other cryptocurrencies. The European Union now also has the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in operation, mainly to deal with financial matters? Will the Europeans end up controlling buying and selling associated with 666 in Revelation 13:16-18? Is Europe taking preliminary steps to do so now? Dr. Thiel address these issues.

Lawrence Kadish, who is on the board of governors of the organization, wrote that Biden’s “little noticed” plan appeared recently in an executive order.

While the USA looks at this, and may well do it, the Europeans are further along on this.
The Bible says that a coming totalitarian European Beast power will control buying and selling.

Notice the following prophecy:

This type of financial surveillance could not have happened during the time of the Apostle John as there was no real way to monitor many financial transactions then (despite the fact that ‘preterists’ believe this was fulfilled almost 2000 years ago, see also The Dangerous Rise of Preterists). The same was true for all the centuries that followed until the late 20th and now the 21st century. But now not only does the technology exist to monitor most financial transactions, the political will is there as well.
It will be a European power that will fulfill the above prophecy of 666 (watch Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).
It will likely take computers aided with artificial intelligence to aid in the fulfillment of the scriptures in Revelation 13:15-18, as well as cyber-spying/monitoring. I do believe that cyber monitoring will be used by the European Beast, King of the North, 666 power. …
Knowledge and monitoring of financial transactions is greatly increasing.
Europe has claimed that it will be the dominant force in cryptocurrency.
While 2023 will not see a cashless world, expect to see more movements towards monitorable payments.
Expect to see more steps related to Central Bank Digital Currencies in 2023.
Are you paying attention to what is going on in the world?
Pushes towards digital currencies, totalitarian surveillance, digital passports, and travel restrictions are all consistent with the type of totalitarian controls that the prophesied Beast of Revelation will implement.
Yes, Europe will adopt some type of digital currency.
The 666 prophecies will be fulfilled.
Probably within the next decade.
