The Habsburg Way: Even in 2023 Habsburgs are influencers

COGwriter

Eduard Habsburg just had a book published this week. Here is some information about his family and that book:

Why Does the Right-Wing Scion of a Failed European Dynasty Want to Tell Us How to Live?

In 2023 even Habsburgs are influencers.

April 21, 2023

In 1521, in the imperial free city of Worms, the firebrand Augustinian friar Martin Luther stood before Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, then the head of and heir to the House of Habsburg, and refused to recant his widely published criticisms of the Catholic Church. The first duty of the Holy Roman Emperor was to defend the faith, and Charles did so by … letting Luther go. If Charles had arrested Luther, it would have angered powerful princes in the empire whose support Charles needed to defeat the Ottoman Turks in Hungary.  …

In the centuries that followed, the feudal Catholic order represented by Habsburg power played the Washington Generals to Protestant capitalism’s Harlem Globetrotters. From the defeat of the Spanish Armada to the disastrous Battle of Rocroi, Hapsburgs absorbed loss after loss, while Protestant northern Europe extended itself across the world. …

That brings us—somehow!—to Eduard Karl Joseph Michael Marcus Koloman Volkhold Maria Habsburg-Lothringen, aka Archduke Eduard of Austria. He’s a 56-year-old social media influencer who also has a make-work job as Hungary’s ambassador to the Holy See. His Twitter feed is filled with historical anecdotes about his family, the details of his day-to-day life as a diplomat, and lots of approachable, Gen X pop culture references. All of it is designed to make himself and his family appear relevant to a 21st-century audience. As part of his one-man Habsburg family charm offensive, he has now published a book: The Habsburg Way: Seven Rules for Turbulent Times. …

One rule, “Be Catholic,” gets two chapters. One praises the piety of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II, whose devotion to the One True Church helped spark the 30 Years’ War. Most of the advice is a bit too specific to be useful to the average reader, but if I ever go to war with the king of Bohemia, I’ll be sure to enlist support from Hungary. When scaled down for a regular schmo, Habsburg’s rules are general to the point of banality. “Get Married” is pretty straightforward, but “Be Brave in Battle (or Have a Great General)” is a bit harder to parse. Others, like “Believe in the Empire” and “Die Well,” just sound like chants from a Habsburg cheerleading squad. …

The Habsburg Way is a subtle but persistent case for monarchy as a political system …

Eduard repeatedly teases the notion that it may be—someday. “Are we waiting for the monarchy to return? No,” he writes, then adds, coyly: “Or are we?” Surely, in these “turbulent times,” our yearning for the gentle but firm hand of a monarch to gather the fractured pieces of the modern state will lead us back to the leadership of august dynasties like the Habsburgs. …

The book ends with a request that the next time a “politician does something outlandish,” the reader ask themselves: “What would a Habsburg do now?” https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2023/04/eduard-habsburg-advice-book-twitter.html

Archduke Eduard looks like he supports a reorganization of Europe and return of some type Habsburg monarchy.

Could that fit in with biblical prophecies?

Yes.

Notice:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

The leader of this superstate will proclaim peace, but devise military plans (Daniel 8:25, 11:23-24), which will be successful (cf. Daniel 11:39-43; Revelation 13:3-5). Prior to this reorganization, this beast leader does not have much power, but with a small group backing him, he will attain it (Daniel 11:23). The Habsburgs do not have much power now, but do have influence.

In the 20th century, Otto von Hapsburg was a fairly influential leader in Europe. He had been an acquaintance and guest of Mr. Herbert Armstrong.

Otto von Hapsburg visited Ambassador College in the 1980s and his vision of a united Europe was published in The Plain Truth magazine back then. Here is something the old WCG published related to him:

Otto von Habsburg MAN WITH A MISSION

OTTO VON HABSBURG, many believe, has a clearer grasp of international affairs than almost any political figure alive.

Of course, Dr. Habsburg is no average politician. He is the head of the 700-year-old House of Habsburg, one of the most prestigious royal families in European history. …

In an interview with staff members of the Plain Truth magazine, and in speeches at Ambassador College, Pasadena, California and before the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, the energetic 71-year-old Dr. Habsburg hammered home one theme time and again: the need, he claims, for the nations of Europe to unite in order for the Continent to be prepared for unprecedented dangers in the near future.

The goal of a united Europe colors nearly everything he writes and says — almost preaches — in his dynamic, fast-tempo speeches (at which he uses no notes). As one biographer wrote: “He lives only for the cause that sustains him.” …

Realism further dictates, says Dr. Habsburg, that Europeans do more for themselves in the way of defense. …

Dr. Habsburg is known for advocating a strong religious role in any future united Europe. …

As far as Dr. Habsburg is concerned, the process of European unification is already irreversible. “We are well beyond the point of no return,” he says, predicting confidently that “we are ‘condemned’ to success.” (Hogberg G. Otto von Habsburg MAN WITH A MISSION. Plain Truth, March 1984)

Well, biblically, Europe is condemned to unite, conquer the USA, UK, and rule the world economically for a time, until it is destroyed.

Helping make that happen may well be ‘the Habsburg way,’ though the Habsburgs may not realize that.

In 2011, Otto von Hapsburg died.

The late Herbert W. Armstrong used to believe that Otto von Habsburg was one to watch as a leader in Europe. Otto von Habsburg was quite influential in helping put together what is now the empire called the European Union.

In the 21st century there are Habsburg’s (sometimes spelled Hapsburg) with political influence in at least Austria, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, Ukraine, and the European Parliament. Perhaps I should mention that many of the queens of France and Portugal were daughters of Habsburgs (as well as some in other lands as well) (see also Habsburg Family Still Influential in and Near Europe for more details).

All the emperors of the old “Holy Roman Empire” were part of what has been known as the Habsburg line. Charlemagne was crowned the first Holy Roman Emperor, reputedly with the crown shown above, by Pope Leo III in Rome on Christmas Night, 800 AD. And now, over 1200 years later, the descendants of that family are still influential in and near Europe.

Although he does not have the word “Habsburg” in his incredibly long name, Baron Karl Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg’s mother was a Habsburg which means that the Baron is a descendant of that line too. He is one to watch in European politics as I have often written. He, for example, may just become the final one that the Bible refers to as the King of the North (Daniel 11:21-45) and Beast (Revelation 13). If the Baron is the one, having influential distant relatives may assist his attainment to power.

The legacy of Otto von Habsburg is likely to be favorable towards Karl zu Guttenberg.

Notice a couple of Roman Catholic predictions related to someone who returns after a long period of exile:

Abbot Joachim (died 1202): At that time a handsome monarch, a scion of King Pepin, will come as a pilgrim to witness the splendor of this glorious pontiff, whose name shall begin with R (Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, pp. 147-148).

Josefa von Bourg (d. 1807): God will choose a descendant of Constantine, Pepin, and St. Louis, who has been tried by a long period of exile to rule over Europe. He will have the sign of the cross on his breast…Under him the Catholic religion will spread as never before (Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, pp. 181-182; Connor, p.37).

Note: Although not commonly used in modern English, “scion” means “descendant.” It has been claimed that the Habsburg line descended from Charlemagne, and King Pepin was the father of Charlemagne. Many of the prophecies suggest that the Great Monarch is French in some manner (see also The Great Monarch: Biblical and Catholic Prophecies). But the Baron, while partially of Frankish descent, is considered to be German–so he fits or does not fit depending upon how many of the prophecies are analyzed.

The Bible itself warns that a “prince” (Daniel 9:26-27) will become the “King of the North” (Daniel 11:31-40). So, since the Baron is a Habsburg descendant, he could well be considered as a prince, in a sense (but he is not generally officially considered to be royalty like a prince would be). And perhaps, he will only remain a prince. While he is not ruling over Europe at this time, he is influential there and seems to be taking steps related to European politics. He may well rise much further in time, with just a small number of supporters initially (cf. Daniel 11:23).

Herr Guttenberg was disgraced by a plagiarism scandal and resigned his position as Germany’s Defense Minister back in 2011.

In early 2010, I wrote:

As far as being exiled goes, the Baron is not always popular, and he may become unpopular for a time.

That happened! In 2011, Herr Guttenberg actually resigned as Defense Minister because of a plagiarism issue (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704506004576173970765020528.html) and came to the USA to reside. So, in a sense he was exiled, and the fact that he left Europe for a while is of interest.

And while I believe that I am the first person in the world to ever write that Baron Guttenberg may end up in exile (before he exiled himself), after I wrote that the German press started saying that he was in exile during his USA residence:

Now, after the plagiarism scandal surrounding his dissertation and his walk into exile in America, continues the guesswork. He is back from overseas, hints at a comeback…
(TV-Kolumne: „Maybrit Illner“: Das Guttenberg-Rätsel – weiter lesen auf FOCUS Online: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c Machine-translatexiled into English by Google, 12/02/11)

Even Herr Guttenberg referred to his time in the USA as exile in December 2015 (Guttenberg KT. Wish List or Reality? Digital Trends in 2016 | Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg | hub conference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgdZUA96UBU. Posted December 11, 2015).

He has sometimes been made fun of in the German press since then.

However, not everyone has written him off. And, he is considered to be a respected commentator by several in the international press.

Interestingly, the Bible tells about a leader who was once disgraced that prophesied to rise up:

21 And there shall stand up in his place one despised, and the kingly honour shall not be given him: and he shall come privately, and shall obtain the kingdom by fraud. (Daniel 11:21, Douay-Rheims)

21 “‘His place will be taken by a reject, a man spurned and passed over for advancement. He’ll surprise everyone, seemingly coming out of nowhere, and will seize the kingdom. (Daniel 11:21 from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)

21 And in his place shall arise a vile person, to whom they will not give the honor of royalty; but he shall come in peaceably, and seize the kingdom by intrigue.(Daniel 11:21, NKJV)

Unlike Archduke Eduard, Baron Guttenberg was denied the honor of royalty because German law does not recognize royalty, whereas Austrian law does–hence people like Archduke Eduard have normally undergone what is considered to be a royal investiture.

Herr Guttenberg may rise up more than almost anyone thinks he could.

Related to him and the Middle East, the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) recently put together the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:

The Middle East, Prophecy, and Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg

Iran and Israel have been involved with various attacks and threats against each other. Does the Bible seem to prophesy that Iran and Syria will attack Israel? Will God always protect Israel? Will Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ protect it? Is “great damage” prophesied to come to Jerusalem? What about damage to Syria’s capital Damascus? What was Isaiah inspired to write? Could a peace deal come after a regional conflict in the Middle East? Could Baron Karl-Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg (KT) be the “prince” of Daniel 9:26-27, who becomes the King of the North of Daniel 11? Was KT spurned, rejected, and passed over for advancement consistent with one rendering of Daniel 11:21? Does KT have the ancestral and religious background to be the “Great Monarch” of Greco-Roman Catholic prophecies? Does KT have the digital background to be able to be involved in the 666 controlling of buying and selling (Revelation 13:16-18)? Should you be watching the Middle East and Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg? Dr. Thiel answers these questions and more.

No longer confined to Bitcoin, blockchain technology is moving towards the mainstream. Former German Economic and later Defense Minister, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg has long been an adviser to Ripple and has plans for internationally-expanding the use of blockchain money. Jim Rickards, Doug Casey, and others have expressed concerns that blockchain money will give governments too much control over buying and selling.
