US Army correct that war can come to American soil, but it will be more than drones and cyber attacks

The US Army expects that some type of war will hit American soil:

America’s next war could reach US soil, top Army general warns

October 15, 2026

The American military has largely operated on a familiar premise: combat the enemy overseas before the fight reaches home.

But as drones, cyberattacks and long-range weapons pose growing threats to U.S. military installations and critical infrastructure, Army leaders are preparing for a future in which American forces could come under attack before they ever deploy overseas.

“If we’re going against a pacing threat, power projection will be contested,” Gen. Christopher LaNeve, the Army’s acting chief of staff, told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. …

In a potential conflict with China, disrupting American military bases, transportation networks and communications could delay U.S. forces from reaching the battlefield. The Pentagon’s latest report on China’s military capabilities warns that Beijing has positioned cyber capabilities inside U.S. critical infrastructure networks that could be used to disrupt American military mobilization during a conflict.

The concerns come as the Pentagon places renewed emphasis on homeland defense and military installations as they prepare to potentially confront threats closer to home. U.S. officials have previously confirmed drone incursions over installations — including Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia and Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. Though those incidents have not been publicly attributed to China.

The warning of a future fight on American soil comes amid the How the Army Fights roll out. The new operational framework places greater emphasis on preparing American forces to deploy, communicate and sustain operations even when military bases, supply lines and communications networks are under attack. America’s next war could reach US soil, top Army general warns

The USA has not really had a major military attack on its soil since the Civil War.

But one will come.

And it will involve more than drones or cyber attacks.

In a sermon from the late John Ogwyn given on the Feast of Trumpets in 1979  (titled The Meaning of the Feast of Trumpets), he stated:

God has hedged us in. The United States and the British Commonwealth nations stand out as the only nations to have been totally hedged in and protested to go down through. You know when the last time foreign troops set foot on British soil in an invasion of Britain?

It was in 1066 with William the Corporal, and he was bringing in the last contingent of Israelites. God has put a hedge about those people. You point to me another nation in Europe that’s not been invaded for a thousand years, point to me one that hasn’t been invaded in the last, you know, 40 years virtually. There were some that did not have the ravages of the war. Our nation has stood.

British troops are the only foreign troops that have ever invaded this nation in terms of occupying the heartland or a portion of it. I realize we were involved in later wars, but we were invading rather than being the ones invaded. God has put a hedge about it.

The Japanese couldn’t get into Australia or New Zealand. The Germans couldn’t get into the United States or Britain or Canada.

God hedged us about it. God is simply going to take down the hedge. He says, OK, you don’t want to trust in me, you want to trust in others? Fine, I’ll just take my hedge down, and I’ll step back, and I will let you see what you can do for yourself.

And what I just have gotten through telling you about the events of the Great Tribulation, brethren, those events are real.

Yes, the protection and loss of protection on the USA and its British-descended allies was prophesied in the Book of Daniel.

23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24)

Consider that the German-European alliance was defeated in WWI and WWII. So yes, the fathers (WWII) and forefathers (WWI) of the final King of the North failed to defeat the British and the USA those two times. But notice that he (the coming Germanic King of the North) is prophesied to be successful against the strongholds, in this case meaning the military alliance of the USA and its British-descended allies. The third time basically is WWIII and the Germanic-European King of the North Beast power will succeed per Daniel 11:24 and Daniel 11:39 (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses). Despite having wealth and the strongholds, the USA and its British-descended allies will be defeated.

Some do not think that the world’s most powerful military can be defeated. Yet, it is prophesied to happen. Daniel was inspired to write:

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:39)

The “he” is the King of the North. The two Hebrew words translated as “the strongest fortresses” in verse 39 do not appear together anywhere else in the Bible.

Something is, thus, unique here. As mentioned previously, Daniel 11:24 seems to parallel this as it teaches that the King of the North has plans against the strongholds and succeeds against the prosperous.

Many translations of Daniel 11:39 support this idea:

39 He will attack the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him, making them rulers over many and distributing the land for a price. (BSB)

39 He shall deal with the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god. Those who acknowledge him he shall load with honor. He shall make them rulers over many and shall divide the land for a price. (ESV)

39 He will take action against the strongest of fortresses with the help of a foreign god; he will give great honor to those who acknowledge him and will cause them to rule over the many, and will parcel out land for a price … (NASB)

39 Claiming this foreign god’s help, he will attack the strongest fortresses. He will honor those who submit to him, appointing them to positions of authority and dividing the land among them as their reward. (NLT)

39 So he shall deal against the fortresses of the strongest with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge: and shall increase with glory. He shall cause them to rule over many and divide the land for a price. (AFV)

39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price. (NIV)

39 He’ll take action against the strongest fortresses. With the help of a foreign god, he’ll recognize those who honor him, making them rule over many, and he’ll parcel out the land for a profit. (ISB of 2012)

39 He shall deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god; those who acknowledge him he shall magnify with honor. He shall make them rulers over many and shall divide the land for a price. (RSV)

39 He shall deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god; those who acknowledge him he shall magnify with honor. He shall make them rulers over many and shall divide the land for a price. (RSV, Catholic Edition)

39 And he shall deal with the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god; whom he shall acknowledge, shall increase glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for a price. (Jewish Publication Society of 1917)

Isaiah warns that “The fortress also will cease from Ephraim” (Isaiah 17:3)–but unlike Manasseh (USA), Ephraim (UK, etc.) simply does not have the strongest fortresses in the 21st century. Yet, when you combine Isaiah 17:3 with Daniel 11:39 you see that the USA and its British-descended allies will lose their military might. The coming defeat of the USA and its British-descended allies could be called World War III (WWIII; see also World War III: Steps in Progress).

This passage about the “strongest fortresses” in Daniel 11:39 cannot be referring to the continental Europeans as they are supporting the King of the North who is doing the conquering. Nor can it be referring to the Russians, Chinese, or other Asians as they do not get mentioned until verse 44 (see also The Eurasian Union, the Kings of the East, and Bible Prophecy).

Who has the strongest fortresses?

Looking further down in this chapter in Daniel, we also must eliminate the King of the South, because that King is not attacked until later (the next verse). We must also eliminate those in the North and East, as they do not get involved until later (verse 44).

Neither the rest of Africa nor Latin America has anything resembling “the strongest fortresses.” The strongest fortresses belong to the United States, and to a much lesser degree, its English-speaking allies. Thus, in current times, Daniel 11:39 looks to be describing when the Anglo-English-American nations are being destroyed.

And yes, this will involve attacks on America’s soil.

As far as when this is to occur, the late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong, wrote the following in 1979:

What is this abomination? This refers to Daniel 11:31 and Matthew 24:15…That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beasts armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). …

But while this most terrible TRIBULATION IS happening to our people, shall we of God’s Church be protected? My son Garner Ted is now scoffing in derision at our being taken to a place of safety during the great tribulation. Does Revelation 3:10 mean what it says? The Unger’s Bible dictionary, under article on the great tribulation, refers to Revelation 3:10, showing the great tribulation covers the whole earth. No other such time of worldwide trial and trouble is prophesied. A Bible I formerly used had in the marginal reference of Revelation 3:10 “or, the great tribulation.” Also Revelation 12:14 shows the Church being FLOWN into a place of safety in the wilderness. After this (Rev. 12:17), Satan will make war with the remnant or Laodicean Church. That leads up to Christ’s coming. (Armstrong HW. The Time We Are In, Now. Pastor General’s Report-Vol 1, No. 15, November 20, 1979, Page 2).

Recently, we put out a sermon related to some of this: 666: King of the North Beast.

In that sermon, I go over at least seven points that no other Church of God (COG) seems to fully teach (including one or two points that some may partially teach).

Most of the seven points were actually agreed to be correct by ministers and/or evangelists in other COGs, yet their respective groups do not appear to teach them.

Specifically I have taught (most of which began prior to the formation of the Continuing Church of God as a separate entity):

  1. Someone who was a disgraced leader will be the King of the North per Daniel 11:21. This is something I have been teaching since no later than May 10, 2011, see Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg Out But….
  2. Daniel 11:24 refers to WWI, WWII, and the coming WWIII. Started teaching this no later than March 13, 2025–see Germans want Europe to replace America as global leader.
  3. The strongest fortresses of Daniel 11:39 primarily refer to the USA. Teaching this since at least 2004 in a paper submitted to LCG and I later tied it in with Daniel 11:24.
  4. The naval confrontation of Daniel 11:30, involve the western coastland of the USA against a German/Assyrian/Europeans led navy.  This is documented in my 2009 book: 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect, and later writings also tied Daniel 11:30 in with Numbers 24:14,24.
  5. That the Philadelphian remnant will publicly identify that naval confrontation is showing the rise of the Beast and Antichrist–and that will be a major factor in getting the world’s attention to fulfill Matthew 24:14. I first explained this to Roderick C. Meredith after church services in San Diego on November 30, 2002. Furthermore, the related passages in Daniel 11 were shared with the LCG Council of Elders in a paper from me dated 06/18/2008. The Continuing Church of God preparing for the coming time with scores of translations of our English booklet The Gospel of the Kingdom of God in multiple websites and is related to Romans 9:28 (see also Preparing for the ‘Short Work’ and The Famine of the Word).
  6. The King of the North of Daniel 11:36-44 is the man of sin, the son of perdition, of 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 and not the Antichrist, false prophet. In 2004, after LCG minister Gary Ehman confirmed that my position was correct, I submitted a paper to Dr. Meredith about this on 7/07/2004–initially and for many years he seemed to agree. But after I departed from LCG in late 2012, Dr. Meredith publicly denounced this position to espouse one of improper tradition, not scripture (see Who is the Man of Sin of 2 Thessalonians 2?).
  7. The proper sequence of Daniel 11:29-44 (see also Commentary on the Book of Daniel), with the Great Tribulation beginning with Daniel 11:39. LCG and many other groups have this wrong, despite the late John Ogwyn (in 2004), Richard Ames, and Roderick Meredith all agreeing with me. Plus, Dr. Meredith stated on December 16, 2011 that he would have LCG’s statement of beliefs changed by the end of January 2012 to reflect this (see also December 2011 Proposed changes to LCG’s Official Statement of Fundamental Beliefs)–but that still has not happened.

While many believe that all COGs are the same, there is only one that best represents the Philadelphian remnant (see Why is there a Philadelphian remnant of the true Christian Church of God?).

There is one church that has restored the most truth (see Continuing Church of God, Elijah, and Restoring All Things).

There has been one church that has had the most Divine confirmations (see Does the CCOG have the confirmed signs of Acts 2:17-18?).

God will use one man to issue the decree to flee, and the most faithful are told to be gathered together before that happens per Zephaniah 2:1-3.

Would that man be in the church with the best prophetic understandings?

If you have not already done so, should you not gather together and support the work of that church?

The Continuing Church of God also posted the following about this sermon on its ContinuingCOG channel:

Is there a coming ‘King of the North’? If so, is the King of the North from Europe or Russia? What does the Bible show? What are some connections with this Beast and the European Union? Did Jerome believe that the prophecies in Daniel 11 were for the time of the end and related to the time of the final Antichrist? Will persecutions from the King of the North affect Philadelphian Christians? What about the Laodicean Christians? Is there a coming naval confrontation that will involve Europe and the United States? Do any Greco-Roman Catholic Great Monarch prophecies point to a Habsburg/Hapsburg? Could a disgraced Habsburg possibly become the King of the North? Is the power with the strongest military, the strongest fortresses, prophesied to be taken over and its lands divided? Might this also impact the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand? Might China be involved? Might AI (Artificial Intelligence) be involved in the 666 control of buying and selling? Who or what did Irenaeus identify as 666? Does the EU plan to test a digital euro in 2027 with the hopes of implementing it in 2029? Since the King of the North goes against the King of the South at the appointed time of the end, does that help show that all of Daniel 11 was not fulfilled in the 2nd century B.C., but instead has a fulfillment coming in our day? Is a great nation like the USA prophesied to be conquered by friends who became enemies in Lamentations 1:1-2? Did Herbert W. Armstrong and Herman Hoeh write about matters concerning the King of the North Beast? What about the King of Assyria and Germany? What about the ‘desire of women’? Will gold and silver have value after the USA is conquered (cf. Daniel 11:39-43)? What will happen to the King of the North Beast power and the false prophet Antichrist per Revelation 19? Is the King of the North the ‘man of sin’ of 2 Thessalonians 2? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues and more.
