WND: Second coming? The ‘1,000-year day’ timetable says soon

The Bible teaches that Jesus will return with the sound of a trumpet:

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:29-31)

When will that be?

Well, at the end of the 6,000 years since Adam and Eve were thrust out of the Garden of Eden.

World Net Daily (WND) posted the following last year from Scott Lively:

Second coming? The ‘1,000-year day’ timetable says soon

June 8, 2020

In the very first sermon of the Christian church, the Apostle Peter, in Acts 2, “lifted up his voice, and addressed the crowd:

‘Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen carefully to my words. These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It is only the third hour of the day! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. … I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and glorious Day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ Men of Israel, listen to this message. …”

We note first that the last days must be a very long period, not a short one, because they include the Day of the Lord (the second coming) which obviously hasn’t happened yet after nearly 2,000 years. Why would such a long period of time be counted as “days”? https://www.wnd.com/2020/06/second-coming-1000-year-day-timetable-says-soon/

Before going further, it also should be noted that the last days are to be marked by dreams and prophecies from God’s Spirit (watch also 7 Last Days’ Signs of the Holy Spirit).

Now, Peter later wrote some information about the timing of the coming Day of the Lord:

8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:8-13)

Related to this, WND’s Scott Lively wrote:

Two main points can be drawn from this passage. The familiar one is the thousand-year day concept, which is strongly bolstered by the incredible prophecy of Christ’s coming in Hosea 6:1-4 (which also acknowledged the separateness of the two houses at the time of Christ’s first advent, just as Peter did in Acts 2):

Point 1: “Come, let us return to the LORD. For He has torn us to pieces, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bind up our wounds. After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His presence. [These are the thousand-year days referenced by Peter.] So let us know – let us press on to know the LORD. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the earth. [This is a reference to the alignment of the first coming of Christ to the spring feasts of Leviticus 23.] What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? [This is the two house emphasis in the prophecy in parallel to Acts 2:14 & 22.] For your loyalty is like a morning mist, like the early dew that vanishes.”

The second point to be drawn from 2 Peter 3:8-13 is that the Day of the Lord is also a thousand-year day, specifically His thousand year reign in the “Millennial Kingdom.” It arrives “like a thief” and ends with the destruction of all physical matter. The entire thousand-year day is compressed by Peter into a single sentence, but, Jesus uses John to unpack what happens between the bookends. In Revelation 19-22, a mind-blowing description of the second coming in 19:11-21, is followed by 20:1-6 unequivocally confirming three separate times that the Millennial Kingdom is indeed a thousand-year term – (remember that this is Jesus Himself speaking, through John), then describes the events of the close of the thousand years in 20:7-15 (the final rebellion, Great White Throne judgement, Lake of Fire). Revelation 21-22 then follows chronologically with a detailed discussion of what Peter called the “new heaven and new earth where righteousness dwells” (Heaven), which the righteous enter while the all of the creation is being destroyed by fire.

To review, there are three last days of a thousand years each. They began running at the first coming. We are near the close of the two day period of 2,000 years, which apparently began running either at the start or end of Jesus’ earthly ministry (in no case later than the Peter’s Pentecost sermon) and thus the third day will begin soon, when Hosea said God will revive us so we can live in His presence (the Millennial Kingdom).

This analysis comports with the pattern of the Seven Biblical Feasts (the times and seasons), to which the first and second coming align, the pattern of the seven days of creation (and 7,000-year duration of the Creation Story) and the pattern of the seven “day” week that always ends with the Sabbath. The Millennial Kingdom is the Sabbath Day of the 7,000-year Creation week.

So, depending on when exactly the last days clock started, and whether or not the transition from one “day” to the next is abrupt and precise, and whether we’re using the lunar or solar calendar, we’re likely going to see the return of the Lord within a fairly short window of time: months perhaps, years probably, but not decades, if Hosea 6 is intended to convey God’s time frame to us, as I believe it is. https://www.wnd.com/2020/06/second-coming-1000-year-day-timetable-says-soon/

Yes, I believe also that Jesus will return in less than two decades. BTW, several associated with WND are ‘Messianic Jews’ and keep a version of the Holy Days (for information on them see Messianic Judaism Beliefs Differ from the Continuing Church of God and/or watch Messianic Jewish Beliefs and Seventh Day Baptists/Adventists/Messianics: Protestant or COG?).

As far as Hosea 6 goes, here are specific traditions related to the millennium from the Jewish Babylonian Talmud:

R. Kattina said: Six thousand years shall the world exist, and one [thousand, the seventh], it shall be desolate, as it is written, And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day {Isaiah 2:11}.

Abaye said: it will be desolate two [thousand], as it is said, After two days will he revive us: in the third day, he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight {Hosea 6:2}.

It has been taught in accordance with R. Kattina: Just as the seventh year is one year of release in seven, so is the world: one thousand years out of seven shall be fallow, as it is written, And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day,’ and it is further said, A Psalm and song for the Sabbath day {Psalm 92:1}, meaning the day that is altogether Sabbath — and it is also said, For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past {Psalm 90:4}.

The Tanna debe Eliyyahu teaches: The world is to exist six thousand years. In the first two thousand there was desolation; two thousand years the Torah flourished; and the next two thousand years is the Messianic era (Babylonian Talmud: Tractate Sanhedrin Folio 97a).

And while there are some errors in the above, it appears that there is a six thousand year plan, that the current two thousand years essentially represents the Church/Messianic era, and that a one thousand year period remains.

Note: I inserted the scriptures quoted or alluded to above within {} as they are in the footnotes associated with the above.

Now, some Jews believe that the Messiah is to come at the end of the 6000 years. And that is essentially true, but, of course, Jesus already came. Here is one Jewish source on this:

The Messiah and 6000 years

How do we know that the world will end in the year 6,000? There are many differing contexts of the coming of the Messiah has anyone sorted out the contexts so that we can gauge a clear view?

Here are some sources for the world lasting six thousand years:

Talmud, Tractate Sanhedrin [97a]: “Rav Kattina said: ‘The world will exist for 6000 years and one (thousand) of destruction’ … We have a teaching which is in agreement with Rav Kattina, as the seventh is the sabbatical year – one in seven years. Likewise the world will rest 1,000 in 7000 … ‘a thousand years in Your eyes are like yesterday which has passed …’ [Psalms 90:4].”

Talmud, Tractate Avodah Zarah [9a]: “The world will exist for six thousand years: two millennia of void (‘tohu’); Two millennia of Torah; and then two millennia of the age of Moshiach.”

Nachmanides, Commentary on the Torah (Genesis 2:3), quoting Kabbalistic sources: “Each of the Six Days of Creation corresponds to a 1,000 year period of future history.”

As for a clearer view of what it will be like when Moshiach comes, the basic answer is: a lot better than this.

From the Prophets, Talmud and Midrashim, we know what universal changes Moshiach will bring about. Among them: the whole world will return to God and His teachings; the entire Jewish People will be gathered back to the Land of Israel; the royal dynasty of King David will be restored; Jerusalem and the Third Temple will be rebuilt; the Temple service will be restored, along with the keeping of the Sabbatical Year (Shmitah) and the Jubilee Year (Yovel); the Sanhedrin, the religious supreme court of the Jewish people, will be reestablished. http://www.jewishanswers.org/ask-the-rabbi-category/the-basics-of-judaism/the-messiah/?p=998 accessed 09/19/17

There is also something else from another Jewish source. In the Midrash (a term that means “exposition” or “investigation”), Pirke De-Rabbi Eliezer comments:

Six eons for going in and coming out, for war and peace. The seventh eon is entirely Shabbat and rest for life everlasting: (Pirke De Rabbi Eliezer, Gerald Friedlander, Sepher-Hermon Press, New York, 1981, p. 141)

Notice also the following from the Bible:

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a sabbath to the Lord. 3 Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather its fruit; 4 but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the Lord. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard. 5 What grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine, for it is a year of rest for the land. 6 And the sabbath produce of the land shall be food for you: for you, your male and female servants, your hired man, and the stranger who dwells with you, 7 for your livestock and the beasts that are in your land — all its produce shall be for food. (Leviticus 25:1-7)

Some Protestants have pointed to the passages in Leviticus 25 as part of the reason that the Bible shows that there is a 6,000 year plan:

The law of Moses laid a great deal of stress upon the sabbath, the sanctification of which was the earliest and most ancient of all divine institutions, designed for the keeping up of the knowledge and worship of the Creator among men; that law not only revived the observance of the weekly sabbath, but, for the further advancement of the honour of them, added the institution of a sabbatical year: In the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, v. 4. And hence the Jews collect that vulgar tradition that after the world has stood six thousand years (a thousand years being to God as one day) it shall cease, and the eternal sabbath shall succeed—a weak foundation on which to build the fixing of that day and hour which it is God’s prerogative to know. This sabbatical year began in September, at the end of harvest, the seventh month of their ecclesiastical year: (Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible, Leviticus 25:1-7. PC Study Bible Formatted Electronic Database Copyright © 2006 by Biblesoft, Inc. All Rights reserved.)

While Leviticus 25 is not of itself complete proof, it does add scriptural support to the belief (cf. Isaiah 28:9-10). See also the article on the Feast of Trumpets.

Now some may say, since the Jews also teach the 6,000 years, don’t we have centuries to go because the year from sunset October 5, 2022 to September 24, 2023 is the claimed year 5783 or 5783 AM (anno mundi).

Well, that is in error. For those who want more details about that, we put together the following video:

15:19

The Temple Institute announced that “5 perfect, unblemished red heifers arrived in Israel from the USA” on September 15, 2022.. Chanan Kupietzky, an Orthodox Jewish teacher, pointed out that last year was 5781 in the Jewish calendar, pointing to the year these red heifers were conceived, 5782 is when they were to arrive in Israel, and that the year beginning sunset September 25, 2022 is supposedly 5783, which is supposed to be the year of red heifer redemption. Is that the correct year anno mundi (year of the earth) or is 5989 to 5992 more in line with history? What about the claimed Shemitah year? Might the appearance of a proper red heifer encourage the Sanhedrin to begin regular animal sacrifices? Might political considerations result in the resumption of animal sacrifices? Does the Bible show that animal sacrifices in Israel will be stopped? Does possibly having a red heifer mean that a massive Jewish temple is about to be rebuilt in Jerusalem? Do Christians need the sacrifice of Jesus or the blood of a red heifer to be purified? How close do we seem to be for Daniel 9:27b to be fulfilled?

Here is a link to our video: 5 Red Heifers and Year 5783?

We are getting closer to the time when Daniel 9:7 and 11:31 are to be fulfilled.

Based upon certain calculations that I am currently aware of, it seems that Adam and Eve were created and/or apparently left the garden of Eden between roughly 3968-3970 B.C. (it is most likely that the 6000 years began once Adam sinned as Adam had not rebelled before then).

This would mean that when Jesus began to preach (roughly 27 A.D., over four thousand years later) He was preaching in day five, as four of the seven “one thousand year days” would have been over before then.

Thus days five and six would have been considered as part of the “last days” by the early disciples.

That being so, this helps explain why some New Testament figures indicated that they were in the last days:

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh (Acts 2:14-17).

1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things (Hebrews 1:1-2).

If there is no 6,000 year plan of human rule followed by a 1,000 year millennial reign, then the New Testament statement above, about then being in the last days, makes little sense. But, since God does have a 7,000 year plan, these statements do make sense. And that also explains how come the end has not come yet–there is still a little more time in “the last days.” Now, since Acts 2 appears to have been c. 31 A.D., this would suggest that the 6000 years should be up by 2031–if not earlier.

It also needs to be understood that there are two types of last days referred to in the New Testament. When some were stating that they were in the last days, this indicates the latter days of the 7,000 year week. However in other places, New Testament writers sometimes are referring to the time of the final generation before Jesus returns as being the last days, as they indicate that this was not for the same time as they were writing (cf. 2 Peter 3:3).

Anyway, most do not understand about the 6,000 years and Jesus will return at a time most will not expect (Matthew 24:44).

Yet, this will be at the end of the 6,000 years, which WND correctly posted, is close to being up (see Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?).

Jesus will then establish the millennial Kingdom of God.

Let me add that some have erroneously concluded that the 6,000 years are up–and hence Jesus has been delayed.

Well, Jesus warned some would think He was delayed when He spoke the following:

45 But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, 46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. (Luke 12:45-46)

Do not be deceived, Jesus will come at the right time and is coming soon.

The Bible ends with:

20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (Revelation 22:20-21)

Yes, amen.

Is Jesus’ Second Coming Soon?

Jesus’ disciples asked when He would return, and Jesus said a great trumpet would accompany His second coming. World Net Daily had an article titled “Second Coming? The ‘1000-year day- timetable says soon” on June 8, 2020. The article by Scott Lively cited the Apostle Peter’s words in Acts 2 and 2 Peter 3. Plus, Hosea 6. Jewish Talmudic writings, based on a tradition from the school of Elijah, pointed to humans living for 6,000 years to be followed by a 1,000 year Messianic period. That sounds consistent with the six days of work followed by a seventh day Sabbath (Exodus 20), the six years of working the land followed by a one year land Sabbath (Leviticus 25), aspects of the biblical holy days (Leviticus 23), and millennial passages in the New Testament (Revelation 20:1-6). When might the last days have started? Could Jesus return within months as Scott Lively speculates in his article or at least seven years from now? Why might 2031 be a possible date for the end of the 6,000 years and the return of Jesus? Dr. Thiel goes over these issues and more.
