Officials are calling the devastation in Puerto Rico a humanitarian disaster. Six days after Hurricane Maria hit, millions are struggling for basic necessities like adequate food, water, fuel and electricity. Eighty percent of the island’s transmission lines are down, and power may not be restored for more than a month.

In a series of tweets Monday night, President Trump said the U.S. territory’s old electrical grid was “devastated.” He also appeared critical of the island’s financial problems, tweeting they owed “billions of dollars to Wall Street and the banks which, sadly, must be dealt with.”

FEMA has sent out over 10,000 federal forces to work around the clock, reports CBS News’ David Begnaud.

Supplies are coming in slowly from the U.S. mainland to help millions still struggling across the island.

Water and some food scarce as Puerto Rico emerges from storm

Most food stores and restaurants remain closed. That is largely because power is out for most of the island and few have generators or enough diesel to power them. The shops that were open Monday had long lines outside and vast empty shelves where they once held milk, meat and other perishables. Drinking water was nowhere to be found.

Mercedes Caro shook her head in frustration as she emerged from the SuperMax in the Condado neighborhood of San Juan with a loaf of white bread, cheese and bananas.

“There is no water and practically no food,” she said. “Not even spaghetti.”

Maria Perez waited outside a Pueblo supermarket in a nearby part of San Juan, hoping to buy some coffee, sugar and maybe a little meat to cook with a gas stove that has enough propane for about a week more. “We are in a crisis,” she said. “Puerto Rico is destroyed.” https://apnews.com/26175c2cb7154af3bbc909b3571d59fd/Water-and-some-food-scarce-as-Puerto-Rico-emerges-from-storm

Weather problems show how quickly things can change. Maria Perez’s comment that, “Puerto Rico is destroyed,” should be a somber reminder that devastation can happen.

Those affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose, Katia, and Maria remain in my prayers.

As longtime readers of this page are aware, I have repeatedly warned of weather problems coming. Back in 2009, in my book, 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect, I warned about something that would soon happen:

Odd weather patterns result in … natural disasters. Matthew 24:7 …

The world is actually in a berserk transition … It is the beginning of sorrows. Matthew 24:8 (Thiel B. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect. Nazarene Books, 2009, p. 240)

Since that was published, we have had record smashing heat, stronger hurricanes, and odd weather problems. These weather issues should serve as a wake-up call.

As far as prophecy and multiple hurricanes go, consider the following which was posted here in 2011 and 2015:

Since the USA is already in more debt than any nation in the history of the world, it may be that weather problems (such as one or two incidents like Hurricane Katrina), earthquakes, and crop failures may combine in what could be called a “perfect storm” to push the USA over the edge for it to fall. Weather events will negatively affect the USA and contribute to its downfall. …

The USA more and more trusts in perversity with its governmental acceptance of abortion, selling baby parts, pornography, massive debt, and the homosexual agenda. …

Weather problems, civil strife, genetically-modified foods, and debt are setting the USA up for its final fall. Expect worse weather problems than we have seen in 2017!

This seasons’ hurricanes and the recent earthquakes in Mexico are consistent with the following that Jesus said would happen:

8 And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

Earthquakes, floods, typhoons, and hurricanes are troubling. We are in the beginning of sorrows.

In this post, let’s also consider debt as US President Trump’s tweet on Puerto Rico mentioned it.

Now Donald Trump’s debt tweet was followed by two more tweets from him:

In the 21st century, not having electrical power for weeks or months will be a burden for those affected, will greatly impact their ability to work, disrupt communications, and will even impact food supplies.

But notice that Donald Trump seems to be suggesting that Puerto Rico’s massive debt will mean it will have a more difficult time recovering.

Yet, Puerto Rico is not the only place with massive debt.

The USA itself is the most indebted nation of all time.

Notice something warned about in my 2017 book Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse:

The debt situation of the U.S.A. is putting it at risk of being unable to recover should it be hit by weather problems, terrorist acts, war, riots, solar flares, severe earthquakes, civil unrest, devastation of their genetically-modified food supplies, food shortages, and/or various pestilences–an intensity of “sorrows” such as Jesus discussed in Matthew 24:4-8 leading up to the time of the Great Tribulation. Political issues, climate change, trade policies, communication’s deals, and other events are pushing the U.S.A. to a position that will encourage its takeover someday. Disasters, especially if there is an ElectroMagnetic Pulse (EMP) attack or a severe solar flare storm, could be part of a so-called “perfect storm” of events that could set the USA for destruction.

Many sorrows that the U.S.A. will face, like severe weather problems, diseases and earthquakes, will happen in the future … (Amos 4:7-10; Luke 21:11).

Weather issues will weaken the USA.

The Bible teaches:

3 A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished. (Proverbs 22:3)

If Donald Trump sees Puerto Rico’s massive debt as a problem, what about that of the USA?

As president, Donald Trump will have to deal with the fact that the U.S.A. is the most indebted nation in the history of humanity and that in 2017 Republicans proposed a plan that could increase that debt by $9-10 trillion through 2026. Debt is a prophesied problem (cf. Habakkuk 2:6-8).

The time will come when the U.S.A. government will no longer be able to borrow at low interest rates and/or it will create more money electronically and/or via the printing press to try to continue.

Make no mistake about it — massive inflation is coming.

The U.S.A. dollar will ultimately crash and be worthless. That “pride” of American power will be broken (cf. Leviticus 26:19). …

Donald Trump loves debt. Here is something he said about it in 2016:

I’m the king of debt. I love debt. (Egan M. Donald Trump: ‘I’m the king of debt.’ CNN, May 7, 2016)

There was about $20 trillion of recognized US government debt before Donald Trump took office.

He plans to increase that total. Some think his stated policies will add around $10 trillion to that total. (Matthews C. Donald Trump Calls for Exploding the National Debt. Fortune, August 11, 2016)

This is dangerous. Consider also that Donald Trump said because interest rates are “so low”:

[T]his is the time to borrow, and to borrow long term, so that we can have money to rebuild our infrastructure. (Matthews C. Donald Trump Calls for Exploding the National Debt. Fortune, August 11, 2016)

Donald Trump also said:

I have borrowed, knowing that you can pay back with discounts. And I have done very well with debt. Now, of course, I was swashbuckling, and it did well for me and it was good for me and all that. …

Now we’re in a different situation with a country, but I would borrow knowing that if the economy crashed you could make a deal. And if the economy was good it was good so therefore you can’t lose. …

I don’t want to renegotiate the bonds, but I think you can do discounting. … I’m not even suggesting that we don’t borrow money at very low rates long term so we don’t have to worry about when they come due. Nobody knows debt better than me. I’ve made a fortune by using debt and if things don’t work out, I renegotiate the debt. Well, you go back and you say, ‘hey, guess what? The economy just crashed. I’m going to give you back half. ( “Trump recession”? Presumptive GOP nominee fires back at Clinton. CBS, June 22, 2016)

It sounds like Donald Trump believes that debt is good and there is nothing wrong with defaulting or otherwise not intending to pay the total debt back.

The Bible says the wicked have that attitude:

21 The wicked borrows and does not repay, But the righteous shows mercy and gives. (Psalms 37:21)

Donald Trump has also filed for bankruptcy four times (Egan M. Donald Trump: ‘I’m the king of debt.’ CNN, May 7, 2016)—presumably to not pay back debt, while he claims a financial worth around $10 billion.

He may consider that to be ‘good business,’ but his practices and intents sound biblically immoral.

Donald Trump has voiced concerns about interest rates rising in the USA:

If interest rates go up one percent, that’s devastating. What happens if that interest rate goes up 2, 3, 4 points? We don’t have a country. (Egan M. Donald Trump: ‘I’m the king of debt.’ CNN, May 7, 2016)

The rates Donald Trump is concerned about are not outrageously high. On December 14, 2016, the US Federal Reserve announced that it intended a series of four, at minimum of .25% interest rate hikes, which would at least equal one percent (Tankersley J. Federal Reserve raises interest rates for second time in a decade, expects 3 hikes in 2017. Washington Post, December 14, 2016)—the level that Donald Trump has declared would be “devastating” for the USA. (Thiel B. Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse. Nazarene Books, 2017)

The Bible teaches that in the time of the end, a highly indebted nation will be destroyed:

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you. Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

9 “Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster! 10 You give shameful counsel to your house, Cutting off many peoples, And sin against your soul. 11 For the stone will cry out from the wall, And the beam from the timbers will answer it. (Habakkuk 2:9-11)

It is the United States and its Anglo-allies that have loaded pledges of debt in these end times (cf. Habakkuk 2) that they really do not expect to pay back. In that respect, they have recently plundered many nations. And while much is owed to nations such as China, Japan, and the Arab World, the Europeans have trillions of dollars invested in the USA–money they may be disappointed to have devalued, and actually the Europeans seem to hold the most US debt (see EU reportedly the largest holder of USA debt). Enough so that they may divide the land among themselves and other creditors (cf. Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses). The USA does not intend to pay back its debt. Nor, should I add, does the UK, which has one of the largest per capita debts in the world.

Furthermore, the USA is planning on massively increasing its debt according to the latest projections from the US Congressional Budget Office (see CBO points to massive debt: Can the depth of a coming financial crisis be known?).

What has happened to places like Puerto Rico, Dominica, St, Martin, Houston, the Florida keys, and the Virgin Islands is devastating. What will happen to the USA in the future will be worse (cf. Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

While most feel that prophesied dangers will not affect them, the biblical reality is that almost all humanity will ultimately be affected (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin? 2017, 2018, or 2019?).

Will you believe and live as Jesus would have you live?
