BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union is warning Britain that any breach, even the most minor detail, of the withdrawal treaty both sides signed, would break international law and undermine the little trust that is left between both sides negotiating a future post-Brexit trade agreement.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen insisted the age-old diplomatic cornerstone of “agreements must be kept” continues to apply and called the principle “the foundation of prosperous future relations.”
She said if the U.K. follows through on indications that it’s prepared to break an international agreement on EU-British relations, it “would break international law and undermines trust.” https://apnews.com/f07aa866c208e8aae34be1377c789fbf

The government admits rewriting its EU divorce treaty “breaks international law in a very specific and limited way.” The EU has warned that the move could have serious consequences.

The EU has voiced concerns that the proposed legislation will breach the binding divorce treaty, which British MPs approved by a majority of by 358 votes to 234 in December.
Downing Street said its new UK Internal Market bill could change post-Brexit customs and trade rules in Northern Ireland. …
“Clearly, any unilateral departure from the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement would be a matter of considerable concern and a very serious step,” Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney said.
“Such a departure could seriously erode and damage political trust, not only in the Brexit negotiations.”
Ursula Von Der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, warned the UK that implementing the withdrawal agreement was “an obligation under international law & prerequisite for any future partnership.”…
Last year, the British government agreed that Northern Ireland would need to follow EU rules on goods.
The EU argued that installing any border infrastructure at the frontier between Northern Ireland and Ireland would breach the Good Friday Agreement that ended decades of conflict in the region.
It meant that Downing Street accepted that there would be a customs border down the Irish Sea.
Under the divorce treaty, Northern Irish businesses would need to fill out customs forms when shipping goods to mainland Britain. Checks would be carried out on goods in the other direction.
Ministers say the new law will define specific circumstances when the UK can override parts of the withdrawal agreement it ratified last year. …

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has set a deadline of Oct. 15 for the United Kingdom’s talks with the European Union as the latest round of negotiations gets underway today to determine the post-Brexit EU-U.K. economic relationship, again raising concerns that the United Kingdom could crash out of the bloc without a deal in place.

“The situation is not developing in the best direction possible,” Jean-Claude Juncker, who led the executive arm of the EU between 2014 and 2019, said at an event hosted by financial services company Principal.
“No deal is the most possible and probable, the only outcome of the negotiations,” Juncker, who often played a key role in prior Brexit negotiations, said. …
Speaking Sunday evening, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that if they could not overcome these differences by October 15, “then I do not see that there will be a free trade agreement between us.

Boris Johnson has always indicated that he felt that “no deal” was a real option. It is looking more like that may happen.
The EU does not want to renegotiate Brexit. It has said no to that in the past.
So, if both sides are telling each other no, perhaps one or both of them mean it?
A no deal Brexit is often referred to as a hard Brexit.
The EU, itself, has long opposed Brexit and will not be pleased with what is considered to be a no-deal, or even if it ends up with an otherwise somewhat negotiated, Brexit.
As far as the EU’s real feelings go, BBC’s Kevin Connolly reported a while back (see EU states that UK must pay a price for Brexit and be worse off than EU member states):
The 27 EU Remainer states are adamant that Britain will pay a price for leaving and will be worse off outside than the union than it is on the inside.
The EU does not want other nations thinking that they can, should, or might leave.
Almost no matter what happens next with Brexit, damage of the “trust” between the UK and EU has occurred.
US President Trump has been supportive of Brexit (e,g, see Donald Trump pushing Brexit, pushing Mexico, and pushing against India)–and the EU has not liked that either.
Both Donald Trump and the UK hope to make a trade deal with each other for political and economic reasons. If Donald Trump is re-elected, look for one.
These acts do not endear the UK or USA to the EU.
The Bible tells of a time when the strongest military will be defeated and the fortresses of Ephraim will be no more:
39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain (Daniel 11:39).
3 The fortress also will cease from Ephraim, (Isaiah 17:3)
The strongest fortresses in the world currently belong to the USA (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses). Ephraim is a reference to the UK and its British-descended allies of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).
The “he” in Daniel 11:39 is a reference to the coming European (Daniel 9:26-27) King of the North (cf. Daniel 11:40).
The late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong, wrote the following in 1979 about his views of what Europe will one day do:
What is this abomination? This refers to Daniel 11:31 and Matthew 24:15…That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beasts armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). Irrespective of which nation is attacked first, both the USA and UK will lose their respective sovereignties.
Europe will not forgive or forget Brexit nor the USA’s support of it.
But eventually, even the USA and its British-descended allies will tend to turn on each other:
21 Manasseh shall devour Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh;
Together they shall be against Judah.For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is stretched out still. (Isaiah 9:21)
Manasseh represents the USA (see also Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel). Alliances will not hold as many seem to think that they will.
Europe is not happy related to Brexit.
A ‘no deal’ or ‘hard Brexit’ will only tend to speed-up European resolve.
