Ronald Weinland, There Are Only 26 Days Left

Ronald Weinland’s Book Which Falsely Claims that the Great Tribulation will Begin in 2008

COGwriter

As regular readers of this page are aware, in his 2/2/08 sermon, Ronald Weinland of CGPFK claimed that the 1335 days of Daniel 12:12 began on February 2, 2008 and thus that the Great Tribulation should begin on April 17, 2008 (for more information, see the article Ronald Weinland Announced When He Claims Jesus Will Return).

Today, Ronald Weinland and nine other of his “elders” are scheduled to be in various parts of the USA and Canada to provide the false warning message that the Great Tribulation will begin in 26 days.  Here is the schedule from his website:

Mar. 22 NUMEROUS LOCATIONS WITH ELDERS….
Dallas, TX(Jimmy Carlisle)…
Springfield, MA(Mitch Williams & John Giannotta)…
Ashland, VA(Dave Conely)…
Columbia, MO(Sam Qualls)…
Buffalo, NY (Skip Henry)…
Colby, KS (Shawn Christal)…
Winnipeg, MB(Leonard McGlynn)…
Stratford, ON(Greg Chipps)…
Vancouver, WA(Ronald Weinland)

Now what will they be telling people?

I suspect that somehow they are going to have to try to tell people that the events that the Bible and Herbert W. Armstrong taught would happen at the 1335 days (February 2nd per Ronald Weinland, see Ronald Weinland Announced When He Claims Jesus Will Return) and the 1290 days (see news item Ronald Weinland Should Realize that the 1290 Days of Daniel Did Not Begin Today) were not literally supposed to happen.  And that the abomination of desolation supposedly had to do with J. Tkach Sr in the 1990s (Weinland R. Time Has Run Out. 2005) and other things that have affected the Churches of God since.

They will probably remind people that Ronald Weinland earlier taught:

The abomination of desolation has already happened (Interview on The Edge, December 15, 2007).

However, to rely on those positions, instead of the Bible, would be in contradiction with what Jesus taught (Matthew 24:15) and Daniel (12:11) taught would happen at the 1290 days when the abomination of desolation is in place.  Notice what Jesus specifically taught:

Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains (Matthew 24:15-16).

Those who believe that the “abomination of desolation has already happened” clearly DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

Instead of looking at the relevant details shown in the Bible, those supporting Ronald Weinland probably will focus on the economic crises in the USA and Great Britain.  And perhaps mention some events in the Middle East and other parts of the world.   They will probably be told that the next few weeks will be “the calm ” before the “storm” which they expect will happen next month.

Also, since Pope Benedict is supposed to visit the USA April 15-20, 2008, I suspect some will point this out as proof that the end is about to be here.

Why the point about the Pope?

Well, I got one email from someone that stated that he thought that Ronald Weinland predicted that the Pope would be in the USA on April 17, 2008–the date that he believes the 1260 days of the great tribulation will begin–thus this is supposed to apparently prove that Ronald Weinland has some type of “prophetic ability” (note: while Ronald Weinland may have previously predicted the Pope’s visit to the USA, I have not seen anything that proves that he did–but even if he did, that is not a prophetic requirement of the prophecies related to the 1260, 1290, or 1335 days that God’s prophet Daniel recorded in the Bible).

Well, the type of “ability” Ronald Weinland may have (if any) is NOT biblical.  The biblically required signs simply did not happen.  And even if there is some type of terrorist or other attacks, before, near, or shortly after April 17, 2008, the truth is that the Great Tribulation cannot begin next month.

Of course, with only 26 days left according to Ronald Weinland’s calculations for the Great Tribulation to begin, his current followers will probably be somewhat excited.

However, their excitement will not change the fact that the events that the Bible show must come to pass at the 1290 days simply did not come to pass.  Ronald Weinland simply claiming that the 1290 days would begin on March 18, 2008 because he says so is simply NOT what the Bible says would happen that day.

Recall that Daniel 12:11 states:

And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.

The daily sacrifices still have not yet began, thus they were not stopped on March 18, 2007.

His followers seem to forget that although he wrote the following in 2006 in his book 2008-God’s Final Witness, these events simply have not come to pass (any bolding his):

This Fifth Thunder is divided into three specific phases of death. (1) The first phase is death within the Church of God that was scattered. It will be specifically about a marked increase in the death of its leadership (the ministry). (2) The second phase will be a sudden escalation in the death of notable people in the world. (3) The third phase will be a sudden escalation of death in the world from plagues.

(1) This first phase of this Fifth Thunder has already begun in a very small way upon the Church of God that was scattered, after the prophesied apostasy (2 Thes. 2). This phase of the Fifth Thunder is given as a great chastening to those who have been scattered so that they can be shaken from the deep spiritual sleep where they so proudly rest. Sadly, spiritual arrogance and pride are so deeply entrenched in the hearts and minds of those who have been refusing to hear God’s warnings, that many will not be able to humble themselves enough to accept what God’s endtime prophet is telling them. They will not acknowledge his words, which are from God to them, because they do not like the way they are being addressed. Instead, these will stubbornly cling to their own ideas of how they believe God should teach them through their own organizations.

This phase of the Fifth Thunder is one of my own choosing, which God has granted me as part of His own will and purpose for the Church (this will be clarified more fully in the Sixth Thunder).p 101

(2) The second phase of death will be upon notable people in  the world. It will begin small and increase in intensity as all the thunders do. p. 108

Thus, if these events were supposed to come from his own choosing, he either changed his mind or he simply did not have the power to make them come to pass.  With the end coming in 26 days, this should show people that Ronald Weinland simply did not have the power to make these things come to pass.

He also wrote (any bolding his):

The question about how God has revealed His truth to me is a fair one. The answer that I am who I say I am will be given by the events described in both books coming true exactly as I have described. This will be the proof that I am God’s end-time witness and spokesman…

These Seven Thunders are a combination of God’s inspiration in me to know His purpose and being at one with Him concerning His will for this end-time. These thunders are largely a matter of my own choosing, which God has given to me since I am His spokesman and the one who will stand before Him to the whole world during this end-time (Revelation 11:4 & Zechariah 4:14).

All Seven Thunders are given as God’s proof that I am His end-time prophet.  p. 111

But those events simply did not happen, thus his writings are proof that he is not God’s end-time prophet.

Also notice that he wrote:

#6 The Sixth Thunder is the growing revelation of God’s end-time witnesses. That revelation is that I am the spokesman of God’s two end-time prophets—the spokesman of His two end-time witnesses. p. 109

If the sixth thunder he claims is supposed to be happening now, it should be apparent to any willing to read what the Bible says has to happen that there is a growing revelation that Ronald Weinland cannot be “the spokesman of God’s two end-time prophets” as he claims.

Hopefully, those around him will realize that Ronald Weinland is NOT one of God’s two witnesses like he has been claiming.

A true prophet of God would make predictions consistent with biblical prophecy–and the truth is that the events that should have already occurred for the great tribulation to begin next month simply have not occurred.  The Bible specifies persecutions, a King of the North, a King of the South, sacrifices being stopped, etc.  None of these events has occurred.  Nor have the events he claimed for the fifth thunder (which supposedly were to have intensified in February 2008 according to his letter of November 24, 2007–see Ron Weinland claims “Thunders” for February 2008 and “by April this world will begin to be shaken to its foundations”) happened.

He also wrote:

When Jesus Christ opens the Seventh Seal of Revelation, God declares that the final three and one-half years of great tribulation will begin, and man’s self-rule will be brought to an end…

During the Sixth Seal, all Seven Thunders will be getting progressively louder. Before the Seventh (and final) Seal is opened, the Seven Thunders will become so pronounced that the validity of everything written about them in the previous chapter should roar loudly in the ears of anyone who is willing to admit the truth. p. 115

Notice what he stated in his sermon of February 23, 2008:

Finally, April 17th of this year, the first trumpet blows (Weinland R. The Mystery of God Revealed, Pt. 2. Sermon, February 23, 2008).

Now if the first trumpet of the seventh seal is supposed to be blown on April 17, 2008 and the sixth seal intensified by then and the fifth set of thunders have not yet been fulfilled, how is it possible that his predictions will be fulfilled in 26 days?

It’s not.  And that’s the point.

Also notice what he states should therefore happen on April 17, 2008:

The First Trumpet blast will occur quickly after the Seventh Seal of Revelation is opened by Jesus Christ. p. 116

This first powerful event of the Seventh Seal will result in (p. 117) wide-spread destruction over the United States and beyond her border into Canada. The destruction in Canada will be less, but she will experience repercussions from what will happen in the U.S.; because she is a neighbor, as well as a prophetic brother. When we are told that a third of all plant life will be destroyed, that is exactly what it means.

His followers need to read their Bibles, understand that the events necessary have not occurred, and need to see that the end is not next month.  Nor is he correct about an imminent nuclear attack (more information on that is in the news item Ronald Weinland: Nuclear Attack May be Mid-April 2008).

Please, any who are listening to Ronald Weinland, look up what the Bible teaches and compare that to what has NOT happened in the past month or two.

The 1335 and the 1290 days of Daniel 12 have not yet started.  Nor will the 1260 days begin on April 17, 2008.

Some articles that might help explain some of these biblical prophecies as well as to show why Ronald Weinland cannot be right include:

Who is the King of the North? Is there one? Do biblical and Roman Catholic prophecies point to the same leader? Should he be followed? Who will be the King of the North discussed in Daniel 11? Is a nuclear attack prophesied to happen to the English-speaking peoples ofthe United States, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand? When do the 1335 days, 1290 days, and 1260 days (the time, times, and half a time) of Daniel 12 begin?
Who Are The Two Witnesses? What is their job? What does the Bible reveal? What has the Church of God taught on this subject? Might even Roman Catholic prophecies give some clues here?
Concerns About Ronald Weinland’s Church of God-Preparing for the Kingdom of God Ronald Weinland falsely claims to be one of the two witnesses God is raising up and that the end will come in 2008. Is he a false prophet? He has at least one other view that suggests that he is not part of the COG.
There is a Place of Safety for the Philadelphians. Why it May Be Petra This article discusses a biblical ‘place of safety’ and includes quotes from the Bible and Herbert W. Armstrong on this subject–thus, there is a biblically supported alternative to the rapture theory.
End of Mayan Calendar 2012–Might 2012 Mean Something? There is a Mayan calendar prediction for change in 2012. 2012 changes were also centuries ago predicted by the Hopi Native Americans and the Hindu Indians (who were not even on the same continent). Do these Mayan/Hindu/Hopi prophecies have any value? Why might Satan have inspired this date? Can the great tribulation start before 2012?
