The Sanhedrin’s invocation of Cyrus is central to its vision. Cyrus the Great, King of Persia, issued a decree in 538 BCE allowing the Jews to return from Babylonian exile and rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem. The prophet Isaiah called Cyrus God’s anointed—mashiach—even though he was not Jewish. “Thus says the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him.” (Isaiah 45:1) Cyrus is mentioned by name in the Bible twenty-three times, more than any other Gentile king. He funded the Temple’s construction from the royal treasury. While the Sanhedrin did not mention Donald Trump in the above article, it has tied Donald Trump with Cyrus the Great.

In 2018 during the first Trump Administration, the Jewish group calling itself the Sanhedrin issued a special commemorative coin (shown above) to celebrate Israel’s 70th anniversary with the stated intent to raise money to support a future temple:
The recent effort that created the commemorative “Trump-Cyrus Coin,” sporting images of President Trump and ancient Persian King Cyrus, is now minting a special edition “70 Year Redemption Coin” to raise funds to build Jerusalem’s Third Temple as a house of prayer for all nations.
The organizers, which include Israel’s nascent Sanhedrin, the Mikdash (Temple) Educational Center and the United Temple Movements, have prepared the new coin to honor the 70th anniversary of the nation, which takes place this Thursday, April 19.
They believe the Temple project is the only way to avert the outbreak of another Middle East war.
“The Temple, as a house of prayer for all nations, is the source of true peace,” said Rabbi Hillel Weiss, spokesman for the nascent Sanhedrin, a biblically mandated court of 71 elders, told Breaking Israel News. “It has been presented in the media as a ‘flashpoint,’ the focus of conflict. That is the opposite of the truth and has actually made this lie into a reality.”
The previous project involving the commemorative Trump-Cyrus coin was so successful the organizers of the new effort are optimistic about an international effort to plan and fund the rebuilding of the Temple, a project fraught with controversy even within Israel, because of the Islamic presence of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock – two shrines atop the Temple Mount. …
The coin is currently being sold on the Mikdash Education Center’s website. Because of Donald Trump’s decision related to Jerusalem, some have believed this will make it easier for a ‘Third Temple’ to be built there and that Donald Trump is the biblical ‘Cyrus’ (see Donald Trump reportedly a ‘Cyrus’ preparing the way for a new Jewish temple).

When Donald Trump descended the escalator in 2015, most observers regarded it as political theater. Rabbi Mendel Kessin saw something else entirely: the reincarnation of a biblical patriarch returning to complete unfinished spiritual business. The rabbi made a prediction others dismissed. “I just happened to realize that he’s going to win. Why? Because he has to win because he’s the biblical prophecy that has to assist the Messiah. That is what God has granted Esau, that he’s going to come back to teshuva (repentance) and assist the Messiah, and he’s going to be wonderful to the Jewish people.”
Trump’s victory vindicated that prediction. …
The comparison to Cyrus carries particular resonance. Cyrus permitted Jewish return and Temple rebuilding not from personal conviction but as an instrument of divine will. His recognition came through Isaiah: “I call you by name, I hail you by title, though you have not known Me” (Isaiah 45:4). Cyrus served God’s purpose without necessarily understanding it fully.
Trump’s relationship with Israel, his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, his brokering of the Abraham Accords, and his strong support despite political cost all mirror Cyrus’s unexpected role. Both gentile leaders. Both wield unprecedented power. Both serve purposes beyond their full comprehension. …
Rabbi Kessin’s analysis concludes with urgent counsel. Trump must recognize that his role exceeds political achievement. The divine assignment demands understanding of divine objectives, not merely the pursuit of personal legacy. No, Donald Trump is not Cyrus.
Biblically we see that God chose Cyrus the Great before he was born, to issue an order to rebuild the foundation of the Temple:
44:28 Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd,
And he shall perform all My pleasure,
Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,”
And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”‘ (Isaiah 44:28)45:1 “Thus says the Lord to His anointed,
To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held —
To subdue nations before him
And loose the armor of kings,
To open before him the double doors,
So that the gates will not be shut:
2 ‘I will go before you
And make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
3 I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
That you may know that I, the Lord,
Who call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel.
4 For Jacob My servant’s sake,
And Israel My elect,
I have even called you by your name;
I have named you, though you have not known Me. (Isaiah 45:1-4)
We see that this was fulfilled in Ezra:
1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,
2 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia:
All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah. 3 Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel (He is God), which is in Jerusalem. 4 And whoever is left in any place where he dwells, let the men of his place help him with silver and gold, with goods and livestock, besides the freewill offerings for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.
5 Then the heads of the fathers’ houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and the Levites, with all whose spirits God had moved, arose to go up and build the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem. 6 And all those who were around them encouraged them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.
7 King Cyrus also brought out the articles of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem and put in the temple of his gods; 8 and Cyrus king of Persia brought them out by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and counted them out to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah. (Ezra 1:1-9)
Donald Trump is NOT doing the same thing and the Cyrus prophecy was fulfilled thousands of years ago.
But various Protestants and some others have attempted to claim that Donald Trump is a modern day Cyrus and/or the “trump of God” (e.g. http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Has-God-Raised-Up-a-King-Cyrus–.html?soid=1111272225814&aid=n0ARlA9mD3Q).
Notice an end time prophecy:
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:1-5).
Are not Christians to turn away from those who have characteristics listed above?
Does not Donald Trump have many of those characteristics?
Yet, for those who hail him as the one to save the USA, they need to consider that evil is still evil.
But certain Protestants and Jews are convinced Donald Trump is the answer.
Notice the following claims from Protestant minister Jeremiah Johnson:
The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “Trump shall become My trumpet to the American people, for he possesses qualities that are even hard to find in My people these days. Trump does not fear man nor will he allow deception and lies to go unnoticed. I am going to use him to expose darkness and perversion in America like never before, but you must understand that he is like a bull in a china closet. (Johnson J. Despite what the above claims, Donald Trump, thus far, has not focused much on national sins of the USA, but has had his own issues with lies.
Some Protestants have even claimed that Donald Trump could be the ‘trump of God.’ Here are two:
I am not suggesting that Donald Trump absolutely *IS* the last trump – but since the LAST TRUMP is one of the most clear and final signs in end times prophecy, can we overlook the possibility that a presidential candidate named Trump is being used as a sign by God? …
As for biblical clues on an end times TRUMP:
First, Paul wrote to the Church at Thessalonica, “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (I Thess. 4:13-18).
Second, Paul wrote to the Church at Corinth, “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (I Cor. 15:51-53). …

All Biblical musicians know that the last trump equals a musical note! So that would mean the last note or sound coming out of the trumpet! So when Mr. Donald J. Trump speaks his last word, that will be the last note. This is a spiritual sign!
This is the key to interpreting Revelation

Well, obviously, all end time biblical prophecy was not wrapped up by 2019 and the Church will NOT be raptured to heaven because of Donald Trump (see Is There A Secret Rapture for the Church? When and Where is the Church Protected?).
Furthermore, I do not believe that Donald Trump’s name is specifically related to scriptures in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 or 1 Corinthians 11:51-53.
I do not believe it is possible that Jesus will return during a Donald Trump presidency.
While I understand why certain Protestants support Donald Trump (as well as why certain other Protestants cannot stand him), those who believe that one who believes so much in debt is the answer for the USA simply overlook scripture.
Donald Trump is apocalyptic. There are many ways, including the timing of his political rise, that make him apocalyptic.
But before you do, do not forget that the prophecy in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 tells real Christians to turn away from people with Donald Trump’s characteristics (by writing this, I am NOT saying that his Democratic party critics are the answer for the USA and even the lessor of two evils is still evil–and God only knows which of those two is actually more evil.
While I fully accept that God allowed Donald Trump to be elected (cf. Daniel 4:32), notice that the Bible also teaches:
17 ‘This decision is by the decree of the watchers, And the sentence by the word of the holy ones, In order that the living may know That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, Gives it to whomever He will, And sets over it the lowest of men.’ (Daniel 4:17)
Although I understand why many hope otherwise, Donald Trump is NOT an end-time Cyrus the Great nor is he the final “trump of God.” Any who believe otherwise are deceived. The USA needs true national repentance and the Kingdom of God. Donald Trump has not advocated either.

On December 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump fulfilled a campaign promise related to the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. This brought anger, protests, and rockets from some Palestinians. It also brought condemnation from European allies–it has been claimed to be disruptive and even catastrophic. The Palestinian President (Mahmoud Abbas) said that this pronouncement eliminated the USA as being a fair mediator for a peace deal. Others have claimed that Donald Trump is an end time Cyrus and his pronouncement will lead to a Third Temple in Jerusalem. Is there ever going to be a peace deal? If so, will Europeans be part of it? Is Donald Trump Cyrus the Great?
Cyrus the Great of Biblical fame was a Gentile king of Persia, modern-day Iran, that was used by God to allow the Jews that were captured by Nebuchadnezzar to go rebuild God’s temple in Jerusalem. Many today claim that President Donald Trump is a modern-day Cyrus in that they believe President Trump is being used by God to help the nation of Israel rebuild the temple in Jerusalem on what is now one of Islam’s holiest sites, the site of the Dome of the Rock.
