‘Bolivia severs diplomatic ties with Israel over Gaza war’ and ‘Open hatred of Jews surges globally, inflamed by Gaza war’

The BBC posted the following:

Bolivia severs diplomatic ties with Israel over Gaza war

1 November 2023

Bolivia has become the first Latin American country to cut diplomatic ties with Israel over what it describes as “aggressive and disproportionate” military actions in Gaza.

The country called for a ceasefire and said it would be supplying the blockaded Gaza Strip with aid.

An Israeli official said the move was “a surrender to terrorism”.

Lior Haiat accused the Bolivian government of “aligning itself with the Hamas terrorist organization”.

Bolivia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani said that the government had taken the decision to cut ties “in repudiation and condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive taking place in the Gaza Strip”.

He added that the country wanted an end to Israel’s blockade that was preventing “the entry of food, water and other essential elements for life”.

Gaza has been under an Israeli siege for weeks, with essential aid only reaching people through Egypt’s Rafah crossing sporadically. …

On Monday, Bolivia’s President Luis Arce described Israel’s actions in Gaza as “war crimes” on X after meeting with the Palestinian ambassador to Bolivia, Mahmoud Elalwani. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-67281584

Columbia and Chile also took diplomatic actions:

November 1, 2023

Bolivia said on Tuesday it had broken diplomatic ties with Israel because of its attacks on the Gaza Strip, while neighbors Colombia and Chile recalled their ambassadors to the Middle Eastern country for consultations.

The three South American nations lambasted Israel’s attacks on Gaza and condemned the deaths of Palestinian citizens.

Bolivia “decided to break diplomatic relations with the Israeli state in repudiation and condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive taking place in the Gaza Strip,” Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani said at a news conference.

The three countries called for a cease-fire, with Bolivia and Chile pushing for the passage of humanitarian aid into the zone and accusing Israel of violating international law.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro called the attacks a “massacre of the Palestinian people” in a post on the social media network X, formerly known as Twitter.

Israel’s foreign ministry says Bolivia’s decision to cut ties is a surrender to terrorism. …

“We reject the war crimes being committed in Gaza. We support international initiatives to guarantee humanitarian aid, in compliance with international law,” Bolivian President Arce said on social media on Monday. https://www.voanews.com/a/bolivia-severs-ties-with-israel-others-recall-envoys-over-gaza/7336720.html

Many in the international community are turning against Israel as it intensifies its attacks against Gaza.

On the day of Hamas’ attack last month, I posted:

A strong Israeli response may upset the world if its response is considered to be some type of “war crime.”

Interestingly, notice the following Roman Catholic writings:

Abbot Herman of Lehnin (died 1300) Towards the end of the world “Israel will commit a terrible crime for which it will suffer death.” (Culleton, R. Gerald.  The Prophets and Our Times. Nihil Obstat: L. Arvin.  Imprimatur: Philip G. Scher, Bishop of Monterey-Fresno, November 15, 1941.  Reprint 1974, TAN Books, Rockford (IL), p. 151)

Roman Catholic priest and writer R. Gerald Culleton (20th century): Towards the end of the world the Jews are to commit some atrocious crime for which they will be greatly persecuted…the Great Monarch…This Lion Monarch… together with the Great Pope or Angelic Pastor, shall appear after socialism…(Culleton R. Gerald. The Reign of Antichrist, Reprint TAN Books, Rockford, IL, 1974 pp. 25,27,28,50)

Perhaps “after socialism” may mean after communism falls, like it mainly did in the late 20th century.

Today’s statements from Benjamin Netanyahu, if carried out as he implied, could turn more of the world against Israel and/or possibly get the Syrians and Iranians to cause great damage to Jerusalem per Isaiah 22:6-9. (Thiel B. Hamas attacks and Netanyahu says, ‘We are at war’. COGwriter, October 7, 2023)

Yes, Israel has since been accused of war crimes. Additionally, more of the world is turning against the nation of Israel as well as against Jews in general–antisemitism is rising.

Yesterday, someone asked me about Isaiah 22:8. Here is what that verse says:

8 He removed the protection of Judah. You looked in that day to the armor of the House of the Forest; (Isaiah 22:8, NKJV)

Increased anti-Semitic actions could be consistent with the removal of protection of Judah. As far as “the armor of the House of the Forest” goes, that MIGHT be a reference to Hezbollah as the “House of the Forest” in the Bible is a reference to a location within Lebanon (1 Kings 10:17,21)–and since Hezbollah is based there with armaments, that may be some of what this verse is pointing to.

That seems consistent with the following Roman Catholic translations of that verse:

Douay-Rheims Bible
And the covering of Juda shall be discovered, and thou shalt see in that day the armoury of the house of the forest.

Catholic Public Domain Version
And the covering of Judah will be exposed, and in that day, you will see the weaponry of the forest house.

The modern nation of Israel is run by those of the tribe of Judah–and there are a lot of weapons that Hezbollah has in Lebanon. It seems that if Hezbollah enters this conflict in full force that it will reign tens of thousands of rockets/missiles on Israel.

That said, notice the following:

Open hatred of Jews surges globally, inflamed by Gaza war

LONDON (Reuters) -In Los Angeles, a man screaming “kill Jews” attempts to break into a family’s home. In London, girls in a playground are told they are “stinking Jews” and should stay off the slide. In China, posts likening Jews to parasites, vampires or snakes proliferate on social media, attracting thousands of “likes”.

These are examples of incidents of antisemitism, which have surged globally since the attack by Hamas gunmen on southern Israel on Oct. 7 and subsequent war on the Islamist group launched by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

“This is the scariest time to be Jewish since World War Two. We have had problems before, but things have never been this bad in my lifetime,” said Anthony Adler, 62, speaking outside a synagogue where he had gone to pray in Golders Green, a London neighbourhood with a large Jewish community.

Adler, who runs three Jewish schools, temporarily closed two of them after Oct. 7 because of fears of attacks on pupils, and has beefed up security at all three.

“The biggest fear is that there will be a random attack on our community, on our families and our children,” he said.

In countries where figures are available from police or civil society groups, including the United States, Britain, France, Germany and South Africa, the pattern is clear: the number of antisemitic incidents has gone up since Oct. 7 by several hundred percent compared with the same period last year. …

In the case of the antisemitic incidents, most consist of verbal abuse, online slurs or threats, graffiti, and defacing of Jewish properties, businesses or sites of religious significance. Physical assaults represent a significant proportion.

One common thread is that anger over the deaths of thousands of Palestinians as a result of Israel’s bombardment of Gaza is invoked as justification for verbal or physical aggression towards Jews in general, often accompanied by the use of slurs and tropes rooted in the long history of antisemitism.

“Whatever their opinion on the conflict, even if they are extremely critical of the Israeli government’s policy, Jew is for them equal to Israel, equal to killing Palestinian children,” said political scientist Nonna Mayer, a member of France’s CNCDH, an independent human rights commission. She was describing what was in the minds of those behind antisemitic incidents. 10/31/23 https://news.yahoo.com/open-hatred-jews-surges-globally-141737707.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZHJ1ZGdlcmVwb3J0LmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAMx93yv6aVIqRWnkd2z6aEXHKtQj2sjU4AbhOVUjq1Utgte58av2lXV37EYExD-y84V670yjQiaI3aOoj7nrSa5eHnBgeG8tfRmWFZKdPNHFoLtDc-9WdKtcI-iqihqnhIrX_JOuVPmaDPnXvU3_uHLKRtZjF8NKoLI38Qr11GxT

It is not just Jews that are hated or will be in the future. Throughout history, true Christians have sometimes been called “Jews” and have been subject to persecution supposedly directed towards Jews. True Christians also had to suffer through the so-called Inquisition, which utilized torture against those that had Church of God beliefs–and more is expected in the future (see Persecutions by Church and State). Protestant leaders have also promoted antisemitism and Church of God persecution (see The Similarities and Dissimilarities between Martin Luther and Herbert W. Armstrong) and Eastern Orthodox (see John Chrysostom, Bishop of Constantinople and Antisemite).

There was a poem many years ago by Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Real Christians have always been on the side of being persecuted and have never been on the side of the persecutors. And this will be true again in the future.

People should not be antisemitic. People should not hate Muslims. People should not hate others.

Anyway, although some Roman Catholic and Protestant leaders sometimes try to teach against antisemitism, the underlying antisemitism in Europe and some other lands will again flourish when the time comes, when the Beast’s government mandates it (Revelation 13:15-17).

Lessening of it should be encouraged. However, we are seeing it publicly increased now.
