Hezbollah attacks in northern Israel

The Jerusalem Post reported the following:

Israel at war: Hezbollah fires at North, Hamas resumes Gaza rockets

October 15, 2023

The IDF on Sunday created a four-kilometer security zone in northern Israel to keep any civilians who do not live in the area out until further notice.

It said this was necessary after the continued firing of rockets, attempted invasions, and other tension on the northern border.

Further, the IDF said that those within two kilometers of the border should remain in bomb shelters and safe rooms. https://www.jpost.com/arab-israeli-conflict/2023-10-15/live-updates-768422

The death toll in Israel is now over 1300 since Hamas attacked 8 days ago.

There have been concerns about Hezbollah getting involved since then as it has more firepower than Hamas. To some degree, Hezbollah is now involved.

Militant group Hezbollah attacked Israeli army positions near the border with Lebanon, killing at least one person, in the latest deadly violence in Israel’s north as it prepares a ground offensive on Gaza to the south.

Iran-backed Hezbollah, one of the Middle East’s most powerful militias, said it fired guided missiles against an Israeli army post in Shtula in Upper Galilee. An hour later, it said it targeted another post in Al-Raheb with “live ammunition” and destroyed a tank.

It said the attacks were in retaliation for the killing of two Lebanese nationals in Shebaa Farms and a Reuters reporter near the southern village of Alma Al-Shaab last week. Shebaa Farms is land claimed by both Lebanon and Syria that Israel captured from Syria in the 1967 Middle East war.

One Israeli was killed and three others wounded in the initial attack in Shtula, according to Israel’s rescue service. Israel’s army said it struck Hezbollah military targets in response to the three anti-tank missile assaults and has sealed off an area up to 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the Lebanese border.

Hezbollah and Israel have traded fire along the frontier since Oct. 8, a day after fighters from Palestinian militant group Hamas infiltrated Israeli territory by land, sea and air in an unprecedented attack, https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-10-15/hezbollah-attacks-israeli-army-posts-near-lebanon-killing-one?utm_source=google&utm_medium=bd&cmpId=google

Hezbollah, itself, was founded by Iran. Wikipedia has the following:

In 1982, Hezbollah was conceived by Muslim clerics and funded by Iran primarily to fight the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.[12] Its leaders were followers of Ayatollah Khomeini, and its forces were trained and organized by a contingent of 1,500 Revolutionary Guards that arrived from Iran with permission from the Syrian government, which occupied Lebanon’s eastern highlands, permitted their transit to a base in the Bekaa valley[45] which was in occupation of Lebanon at the time. …

The ideology of Hezbollah has been summarized as Shi’i radicalism;[108][109][110] Hezbollah follows the Islamic Shi’a theology developed by Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.[111] Hezbollah was largely formed with the aid of the Ayatollah Khomeini’s followers in the early 1980s in order to spread Islamic revolution[112] and follows a distinct version of Islamic Shi’a ideology (Wilayat al-faqih or Guardianship of the Islamic Jurists) developed by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, leader of the “Islamic Revolution” in Iran.[41][107] Although Hezbollah originally aimed to transform Lebanon into a formal Faqihi Islamic republic, this goal has been abandoned in favor of a more inclusive approach.[12] …

Since the Supreme Leader of Iran is the ultimate clerical authority, Hezbollah’s leaders have appealed to him “for guidance and directives in cases when Hezbollah’s collective leadership [was] too divided over issues and fail[ed] to reach a consensus.”[139] After the death of Iran’s first Supreme Leader, Khomeini, Hezbollah’s governing bodies developed a more “independent role” and appealed to Iran less often.[139] Since the Second Lebanon War, however, Iran has restructured Hezbollah to limit the power of Hassan Nasrallah, and invested billions of dollars “rehabilitating” Hezbollah.[140]

If Hezbollah gets more involved Iran itself may as well, or Israel may decided to also attack Iran as it supports Hezbollah. Things could really heat up.

The prophet Isaiah was inspired to write:

6 Elam bore the quiver With chariots of men and horsemen, And Kir uncovered the shield. 7 It shall come to pass that your choicest valleys Shall be full of chariots,And the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

He removed the protection of Judah. You looked in that day to the armor of the House of the Forest; 9 You also saw the damage to the city of David, That it was great; And you gathered together the waters of the lower pool. 10 You numbered the houses of Jerusalem, And the houses you broke down To fortify the wall. 11 You also made a reservoir between the two walls For the water of the old pool. But you did not look to its Maker, Nor did you have respect for Him who fashioned it long ago. (Isaiah 22:6-11 NKJV)

Elam represents some associated with Iran and Kir some associated with Syria. “Judah” is the nation of Israel and the “city of David” is Jerusalem. Israel has not turned back to God since the attack by Hamas and verses 10-11 suggest that it will not even after it experiences great damage.

Related to what can happen if Iran enters the conflict, that could fulfill prophecies in Isaiah 22:6-9 about “great damage” happening to Jerusalem from forces of Iran and Syria. Several months back the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) put together the following Bible News Prophecy video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:

Iran and Israel Conflict

European Union foreign policy chief, Josep Borrel, has been brokering the nuclear negotiations involving Iran and said that he thinks the deal is “in danger.” Iran blames the United States, whereas the USA says they are not delaying it. Israeli sources stated that Israel will stop Iran from getting a nuclear bomb. Joe Biden says the USA would use its own military power to prevent Iran from getting such a bomb if need be. In 2021, Iranian lawmakers have submitted a bill seeking the government by law to commit to Israel’s destruction by the year 2040. Does the 22nd chapter of Isaiah point to damage coming to Israel from Iran and possibly Syria? Might Iran be concerned enough about limited progress with the USA to launch some type of attack? Is Iran the prophesied ‘King of the South’? Is it reasonable to think that the prophesied peace deal of Daniel 9:27 will not happen until after a military conflict, like a regional war? Should Christians watch the Middle East? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie discuss these matters.

If Israel, Syria, and Iran begin to fulfill Isaiah 22:6-8, this could end up triggering the countdown to the start of the Great Tribulation!

Peace deals normally do not come until after military conflict. There looks to be so much destruction in Isaiah 22 that a “peace deal” would come out of it–but the deal is only temporary:

26 And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).

The above is referring to a deal or covenant that has a time element attached to it. In a sense, this numbered deal could be considered an end time countdown–which about seven years later would have the scriptures in Revelation about Armageddon being fulfilled.

One day, relatively soon, Iran might inflict major damage to Israel and Hezbollah may also be involved.

We look to be in a time of wars and rumors of wars as Jesus foretold (Matthew 24:4-8).
