Other obstacles include US and Japanese sanctions against Russia, the lack of a peace treaty between Russia and Japan to end their World War II dimension, renewed Sino-Japanese tensions over Taiwan , and the strained relations between China, India, and the United States. The C5 could only take shape if these obstacles were resolved or set aside in the interest of the common good, and only in the event of a “new détente” between Russia and the United States. If all this were to happen, which is far from guaranteed and would in any case take time, Russia would benefit.
The fact that this possible C5 does not include Europe would surely be offensive to the European Union.

The C5
Over the summer, President Trump made headlines when he lamented the expulsion of Russia from the Group of Eight—now the Group of Seven—as a “very big mistake.” He even suggested that he’d like to see China added to form a “G9.”
His national security strategy proposes taking this a step further, creating a new body of major powers, one that isn’t hemmed in by the G7’s requirements that the countries be both wealthy and democratically governed.
The strategy proposes a “Core 5,” or C5, made up of the U.S., China, Russia, India and Japan—which are several of the countries with more than 100 million people. Well, if the USA does form part of a C5 to counter the G7, that will be offensive to the Europeans. The Bible warns that one that was great among the nations (the USA?) will turn friends into enemies (Lamentations 1:1-2)–the USA has been doing that.
Although ICG’s Mark Armstrong believes, “The United States is back on track again” (Armstrong M. Weekly Update by Mark Armstrong – December 12, 2025. Intercontinental Church of God), that view is not consistent with many parts of the Bible nor what is happening in many parts of the world or the USA.
Of course, Russia, China, and India, as well as the “Global South” have been pushing for a multipolar world order for some time.
That is part of why there is the BRICS+ group, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (which includes much of Asia and part of North Africa), Asean, the Eurasian Union, etc. But it is also why there is the European Union.
Although BRICS+ will not dominate the world economically like the coming European Beast power will, the BRICS nations and their decisions will have major impacts on the world.
While much of the mainstream media in the USA seems normally focused on internal politics, much of the world is moving towards a type of integration that will result in the final time of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24; see also The Times of the Gentiles) and the end of Anglo-American dominance.
While the European Union is not part of Asia, China’s One Belt, One Road Initiative (also called the Silk Road project) also connects Europe to more locations in Asia–and Europe itself has pledged to make more connections to Asia (see ‘Will the United States and Europe Break Up Over China?’).
The European Union would like to cooperate more with the Eurasian Economic Union.
A de facto coordination of Gentile powers against the Anglo-Americans is occurring–whether or not there is a C5 with the USA in it.
Based upon several biblical prophecies, I believe that the Asians and Europeans will cooperate, for a time, and eliminate the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies. They will divide their lands among them per Daniel 11:39, and many of the survivors will be made slaves (for more detail check out the article Will the Anglo-Saxon Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?).
Notice also the following prophecies from the Old and New Testaments:
23 ‘Make a chain,
For the land is filled with crimes of blood,
And the city is full of violence.
24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,
And they will possess their houses;
I will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,
And their holy places shall be defiled.
25 Destruction comes;
They will seek peace, but there shall be none. (Ezekiel 7:23-25)23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:23-24)
2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. (Revelation 11:2)
Notice that Ezekiel, Jesus (whose words are recorded in Luke), and John (who penned Revelation) were talking about the same time.
The time of Gentile domination is prophesied (Ezekiel 7:24, 30:1-3, 34:25-30; Jeremiah 10:25; Luke 21:23-24; Revelation 11:2)–though it is not quite here yet. It will be here for the 3 1/2 years of the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord.
The Great Tribulation itself is further described in Revelation 6:9-11 (the fifth seal, that seems to occur because the faithful church has suffered martyrdom, cf. Daniel 11:31-35; Matthew 24:9-10), Lamentations, Daniel, and other parts of the Bible. It starts with Matthew 24:21 and Daniel 11:39.
Some would call this World War III (WWIII; see also World War III: Steps in Progress and/or watch Is World War III About to Begin? Can You Escape?).
What is commonly known as ‘Armageddon’ could perhaps be called WWIV.
Herbert W. Armstrong commented that the confederation is associated with the 200 million-man army–which means also that it will include nations not currently confederate with Russia (like apparently the Chinese and other Asians):
The second woe, with its symbols of horses and horsemen…and is also referred to as an event in the Day OF THE Eternal in Joel 2:4. This refers to a tremendous military power–also to the NORTH–due north! They come with an army of two hundred million! Think of it–an army of two hundred million! (Armstrong HW. The Book of Revelation Unveiled at Last! 1972 edition. p. 38-39).
Notice something else from Joel that is related to this:
6 Before them the people writhe in pain;
All faces are drained of color. (Joel 2:6)20 “But I will remove far from you the northern army,
And will drive him away into a barren and desolate land,
With his face toward the eastern sea
And his back toward the western sea;
His stench will come up,
And his foul odor will rise,
Because he has done monstrous things.” (Joel 2:20)
This is related because the northern, King of the North army of Europe, will be facing forces from the east–these would be forces most likely led by Russia.
Also the Hebrew word translated “writhe in pain” in Joel 2:6 is the same basic word used in Jeremiah 51:29 and translated as “and sorrow.” This also seems to tie all this together.
Back in 2017 I posted that it was possible Vladimir Putin could be the leader of the prophesied 200,000, 000 man army (see Russia’s Putin denies hacking, PCG again claims he fulfills Ezekiel 38, and Russia has a hypersonic missile). Vladimir Putin has been pushing to increase the power of Russia’s military and wants to lead much of Eurasia.
On March 10, 2020, Russia announced a constitutional change that could allow Vladimir Putin to remain in office until 2036. We will see whether he will or not.
Since I strongly suspect, and can almost absolutely guarantee, that the 200 million man army matter will be before 2036, it is certainly possible that Vladimir Putin could be the leader of that army.
The term Armageddon is only used once in the Bible. It is the sixth of seven bowls of God’s wrath:
1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.” (Revelation 16:1)
12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-16)
For them to gather, they must cross over land to get to Armageddon. China’s Silk Road project will make this easier. Russia and Iran’s rail project may as well.
The kings of the east reference refers to Asian nations, including Russia, whose border extends to the farthest parts of the east.
41 “Behold, a people shall come from the north,
And a great nation and many kings
Shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.
42 They shall hold the bow and the lance;
They are cruel and shall not show mercy.
Their voice shall roar like the sea;
They shall ride on horses,
Set in array, like a man for the battle,
Against you, O daughter of Babylon.43 “The king of Babylon has heard the report about them,
And his hands grow feeble;
Anguish has taken hold of him,
Pangs as of a woman in childbirth…”(Jeremiah 50:41-43).
Russia is in the north and is in the northern and eastern ends of the earth.
Notice also that the Bible shows Babylon tied together with birth pains/pangs to a group from a far country:
1 The burden against Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.
2 “Lift up a banner on the high mountain, Raise your voice to them; Wave your hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have also called My mighty ones for My anger–Those who rejoice in My exaltation.” 4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, Like that of many people! A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The LORD of hosts musters The army for battle. 5 They come from a far country, From the end of heaven–The LORD and His weapons of indignation, To destroy the whole land. 6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore all hands will be limp, Every man’s heart will melt, 8 And they will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a woman in childbirth; They will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be like flames (Isaiah 13:1-8).
Thus, both the accounts in Jeremiah and Isaiah seem related to the same invaders. This is referring to an end time confederation that has a distance to travel–apparently a type of union of powers from the east including Russia, who is also the major power of the far north.
Furthermore, a “far country” also seems to be tied to the powers of the east elsewhere in Isaiah:
11 Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it. (Isaiah 46:11)
We are seeing steps for such a confederation beginning to come to pass.
When will it end?
The old Worldwide Church of God taught:
With the second coming of Christ, the “times of the Gentiles” will at last come to an end. (Stump K. The Arab World in Prophecy. Plain Truth, December 1979, p. 38)
For the final time of the Gentiles to arise, the Gentiles will need to cooperate together against the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies. The BRICS, EAEU, SCO, and Silk Road arrangements are all intending to do that–as is the European Union–and the nations involved in them are all taking steps which align with properly understood biblical prophecies. A block of nations from North Africa and the Middle East will also be involved (cf. Daniel 11:27, 40-43)–this is something that US, EU, and others have encouraged (see How Will Middle East Peace be Brought About?).
Yet, most in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand do not understand what is now happening on the world scene and how they will be affected.
In the American television news, how often have you seen the Silk Road project or the Eurasian Economic Union, BRICS+, or even the European Union mentioned?
The focus of the media is obscuring what is really happening in the world.
We are getting closer to the Great Tribulation as well as Armageddon and steps continue to be taken that are leading to them.
Consider that the Bible prophesies that a power from the north (Russia) will have many nations with it and one day eliminate the European Babylonian, King of the North, Beast:
9 For behold, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon
An assembly of great nations from the north country,
And they shall array themselves against her;
From there she shall be captured.
Their arrows shall be like those of an expert warrior;
None shall return in vain. (Jeremiah 50:9)41 Behold, a people shall come from the north,
And a great nation and many kings
Shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.

The “him” and “he” of Daniel 11:44 is the European King of the North. The EAEU is basically north and east of Europe.
While in the USA, its President Trump is pushing his ‘Make America Great Again’ agenda, China, India, the EAEU, and others are looking at a massive alliance–plus there is the EU that expects to expand.
USA efforts will NOT stop what is coming and much of which is starting to form before our eyes now.
World events are aligning with properly understood biblical prophecies.
Steps towards Armageddon and the final time of the Gentiles are happening. Yet, most of the mainstream media seems oblivious to this as they do not respect the Bible nor understand how world events are aligning with many of its prophecies.
As Jesus said: “And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:37).
