Heat, drought, and flooding are in the news:

According to the NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), the sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the Northeast Shelf Large Marine Ecosystem have drastically increased to the highest level in the last 150 years in 2012.

With rising temperatures, melting ice caps in the Arctic and record-setting melting rates of ice in the Antarctic Peninsula, NOAA’s NEFSC has an addition to the list: the rising temperature at the sea surface of the Northeast Continental Shelf reached the highest level in more than a century, last year. According to the report, the sea surface temperature in the Northeast Shelf Ecosystem reached a record-setting 14 degree Celsius in 2012, which is the highest since 1951…Recently, a tendency of above-average temperatures have been observed during summer and spring seasons, and these high sea surface temperatures are the latest additions to this observation. The nation is seeing a sharp divide between dry and wet as summer approaches: While the eastern USA is almost entirely drought-free, drought continues to persist and intensify in much of the country to the west of the Mississippi River.

Many areas of the West are ending the wet season with “bleak spring runoff prospects and increasing drought concerns,” according to this week’s U.S. Drought Monitor, a weekly federal website that tracks drought.

Every state west of the Mississippi, except for Washington, is enduring some level of drought conditions. In all, 66% of the Western U.S. is in a drought, with the worst conditions in Texas, Colorado, Kansas and New Mexico…Nationally, 47% of the contiguous U.S. is in a drought.  http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2013/04/26/drought-divide-usa/2115877/

On Midwestern farms, there’s been a sharp turn of events this month, a swing from too little water to way too much. Farmers have been battling a historic drought and now, thanks to heavy spring rains, their biggest threat is flooding. Flood warnings are in place along the Mississippi River and other waterways. There are drought conditions in much of the USA, and in one area that had drought, it was followed by flooding.

The drought, heat, and flooding news brought to mind the following from scriptures:

7 “I also withheld rain from you,
When there were still three months to the harvest.
I made it rain on one city,
I withheld rain from another city.
One part was rained upon,
And where it did not rain the part withered.
8 So two or three cities wandered to another city to drink water,
But they were not satisfied;
Yet you have not returned to Me,”
Says the Lord. (Amos 4:7-8)

13 Therefore thus says the Lord God: “I will cause a stormy wind to break forth in My fury; and there shall be a flooding rain in My anger, and great hailstones in fury to consume it.  14 So I will break down the wall you have plastered with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered; it will fall, and you shall be consumed in the midst of it. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.  (Ezekiel 13:13-14)

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.  (Revelation 16:8-9)

Although the heat prophesied in Revelation 16 has not arrived yet, it seems like perhaps we are being given a warning now that this and other weather problems will happen.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Last year’s huge drought was a freak of nature that wasn’t caused by man-made global warming, a new federal science study finds.

Scientists say the lack of moisture usually pushed up from the Gulf of Mexico was the main reason for the drought in the nation’s midsection.

Thursday’s report by dozens of scientists from five different federal agencies looked into why forecasters didn’t see the drought coming. The researchers concluded that it was so unusual and unpredictable that it couldn’t have been forecast.

“This is one of those events that comes along once every couple hundreds of years,” said lead author Martin Hoerling, a research meteorologist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. “Climate change was not a significant part, if any, of the event.”

In 2012, weather problems, including flooding, drought, and heat have affected other areas as well (see, for example, Flooding in North Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, and China, TW: Drought USA and Flooding UK; Russia Having Both, Quarter Million Affected by Flooding in Japan, Severely Cold Weather in South Africa and Australia, Drought in Mid-USA Affecting Grain, 2012 Drought Declared USA’s Largest Ever Natural Disaster, Drought Affecting India and Its Food Supply; Europe too, Drought Reducing Wheat Yields in US, Australia, Russia, and Ukraine, and Weather Extremes in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK).  Flood, droughts, and weather problems contribute to food shortages, higher food prices (Heat Affecting USA Wheat Crop and USDA Slashes Corn and Soy Production Estimates Due to Drought; Canadian Farmers Expecting to Benefit), and sometimes famines.  Weather problems can be a warning.

Jesus taught:

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8).

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

The sorrows and troubles are just beginning and will get much worse.

Severe weather is consistent with the troubles that Jesus spoke of.

WHITE HOUSE — President Barack Obama says the world cannot stand by and permit any use of chemical weapons, and says the United States will work with international partners to vigorously investigate evidence in hand so far.

In remarks before his meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah, President Obama said the U.S. now has “some evidence” with “varying degrees of confidence” that chemical weapons have been used in Syria.

He said a range of questions remain about how and when such weapons may have been used.  The U.S. will pursue a vigorous investigation in consultation with partners and the United Nations, moving as effectively and quickly as possible.

Obama said the U.S. and partners must act prudently and make assessments deliberately, but said the world cannot stand by and permit the use of chemical weapons.

“All of us, not just in the United States but around the world, recognize how we cannot stand by and permit the systematic use of weapons like chemical weapons on civilian populations,” said President Obama.

Obama mentioned the danger of chemical weapons falling into the hands terrorists, which he said adds increased urgency to the Syrian situation.

As to whether his “red line” has been crossed, he said his message has been clear.

“For the Syrian government to utilize chemical weapons on its people, crosses a line that will change my calculus, and how the United States approaches these issues,” he said.

At the same time,  Obama said preliminary evidence is “not an on or off switch” for potential action, but an ongoing challenge for the U.S. and international community which must gather further evidence.

Earlier, White House spokesman Jay Carney said Mr. Obama is keeping all options on the table, including military force, while the investigation into chemical weapons use proceeds to firmly establish that a ‘red line’ has been crossed.  http://www.voanews.com/content/britainus-concerned-by-possible-chemical-weapons-use-in-syria/1649268.html

Yesterday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel revealed that, after investigating the matter, “the U.S. intelligence community assesses with some degree of varying confidence that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons on a small scale in Syria.” The chemical sarin, according to the administration, appears to have been used in two separate Syrian attacks, in Damascus and Aleppo, last month.

Immediately, a handful of lawmakers on both the left and the right demanded action from the administration, insisting that the so-called “red line” has been crossed and that action must follow. But in a scenario rife with suboptimal choices, the White House has signaled a caution in its path forward, demanding “airtight” evidence of an attack and its perpetrators before becoming increasingly entwined in a high-risk and potentially costly intervention.

“The risk is getting caught in Syria for a decade,” said Steven Cook, the Hasib J. Sabbagh Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, in an interview with CBSNews.com. “There’s concern about getting caught up in someone else’s civil war.”…

Anthony Cordesman, the Arleigh A. Burke Chair in Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, argues the president is wise to dismiss internal political jockeying.

“Let’s be honest, this is a highly political issue. The people who want intervention in Syria are going to rush out to say, we must intervene because this is a ‘red line.’ But simply saying we’ve crossed the ‘red line’ and then not presenting a realistic course of action is a little like crying wolf – it doesn’t mean anything,” he told CBSNews.com. “Declaring that this is a critical ‘red line’ without being able to define the actions to be taken [once we cross it], putting pressure on the administration without really considering whether you have enough of a justification to get support and world opinion — that’s politics but it’s terrible strategy.”  http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57581597/what-are-obamas-options-on-syria/

Syria has, in the past, admitted to having both chemical and biological weapons.  While Syria could not win a straight war with the USA, if it release biological weapons in the USA, this could hurt the USA.  And a “street war” is Syria would be costly in lives and economically.

Both biblical and Islamic prophecy tell of the destruction of Syria’s capital Damascus. Here is some of what Bible prophecies teaches:

7 thus says the Lord God: “It shall not stand, Nor shall it come to pass. 8 For the head of Syria is Damascus (Isaiah 7:7-8)

3 Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they have threshed Gilead with implements of iron. (Amos 1:3)

1 The burden against Damascus. “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap. (Isaiah 17:1)

23 Against Damascus. “Hamath and Arpad are shamed, For they have heard bad news. They are fainthearted; There is trouble on the sea; It cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus has grown feeble; She turns to flee, And fear has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in labor. 25 Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy? 26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts. 27 “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad.” (Jeremiah 49:23-27)

Since the Bible also suggests that Syria will support the coming final King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:1-8) and a change in or from the Assad regime will be necessary for this to happen–and it will come to pass. Syria’s Assad will either change, break his prior public commitment to not step down or go into exile, or die.

The main opposition to the Shi’ite Muslim President Assad is related to the primarily Sunni “Muslim Brotherhood” (a group that wants a confederation similar that foretold in biblical prophecy).  The USA, directly and indirectly, has supported the Muslim Brotherhood in places like Syria, Libya, Tunisia, Somalia, and even Egypt.

The Muslim Brotherhood is mainly a Sunni Muslim group.  Most in North Africa, the Arabian peninsula, Turkey, and Jordan are Sunni Muslims.  Iran, President Assad’s closest ally, is mainly Shi’a Muslim.  Syria’s Assad and Iran may cooperate if the USA is involved in an attack against one or both of them–but they will not really fare well.

Despite its President Assad, most people in Syria are Sunni Muslim.  Ultimately, Syria will support a coming King of the South, which at this moment looks like it will be a Sunni Muslim dominated group as  the nations listed in the coming King of the South confederation (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:1-8) are currently dominated by Sunni Muslims.  Syria will not be left out of this confederation, hence a change in Syria is coming.

Whether or not the USA more directly intervenes militarily, Syria will change.

(Reuters) – Three British Islamists were jailed on Friday for planning mass suicide attacks that had the blessing of al Qaeda and which prosecutors said could have been as deadly as the 2005 London bombings.

A fourth man, their associate, was sentenced for terrorist financing.

With the help of others, the three plotters had intended to detonate eight rucksack bombs in a mass attack and possibly use timers to set off other devices in crowded places. But an even worse hour of trial is coming later (Revelation 3:10; Jeremiah 30:7).

As we get closer to entering the final time of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24), we need to be able to reach the Gentiles as well as the Anglo-Israelite descended peoples (Matthew 24:14, Ezekiel 3 and 33).  It is absolutely fantastic that we now have so much material in the Spanish language.

Just like we have volunteers assisting the review of the English-language magazine in New Zealand, volunteers personally proclaiming the good news in Kenya, we also have a volunteer in Colombia who has translated this material for us.  He, unasked, started to translate materials and translated those he thought would be the most helpful at this time.

LHC CMS Particle Detector

The scientists at CERN have made another discovery based upon data collected from its Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is being upgraded:

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) collaboration at CERN discovered a known difference between matter and antimatter, contradicting a long believed theory that they were more similar. The research was part of the Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) experiment which focuses on studying a particular particle called a “beauty quark.”

This sub-atomic particle, called “B0s,” is the fourth of its kind to behave differently between matter and antimatter. The research showed that the particle actually prefers matter to antimatter. This asymmetry is called a Charge Parity Violation (CP-Violation), which is how much decay occurs in the sub-atomic particle. In this case, the decay was uneven between the matter and the antimatter.

CERN is the European Organization for Nuclear Research. And it keeps coming up with more and more scientific discoveries.  This European project continues to advance.   It has made a variety of discoveries related to antimatter–and several of them proved that antimatter not only behaves differently than most scientists have believed, but that it can be captured for longer than many believe.  It, as well as the related research, may have some military implications.

What is Antimatter?

Antimatter is matter with its electrical charge reversed. Anti-electrons, called “positrons,” are like an electron but with a positive charge. Antiprotons are like protons with a negative charge. Positron, antiprotons and other antiparticles can be routinely created at particle accelerator labs, such as CERN in Europe, and can even be trapped and stored for days or weeks at a time. And just last year, they made antihydrogen for the first time. It didn’t last long, but they did it. Also, Antimatter is NOT antigravity. Although it has not been experimentally confirmed, existing theory predicts that antimatter behaves the same to gravity as does normal matter.

Antimatter rockets could be one military application, and there are others.

Since the Beast of Revelation 13 will be European (Europa, the Beast, and Revelation and the YouTube video Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?), I have long felt that the LHC project had major military potential (see Thiel B. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect. Nazarene Books, 2009, p. 85).

Notice some of what I wrote in one of my books related to the USA military, European military, the Beast, and technology:

Instead of completely strengthening the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS), Barack Obama’s Administration instead decided to rely on Europe’s upcoming Galileo “GPS” for part of the U.S.A.’s military defense (U.S. and the EU to collaborate on the usage of Global Navigation Satellite Systems.  Wire Update, BNO News, July 31, 2010).  This would appear to give the rising European power a unique offensive and defensive capability against the U.S.A. (cf. Daniel 11:39; Revelation 13:3-4).  It is dangerous to have a potential enemy control portions of one’s military communications systems.

Instead of increasing the U.S.A.’s role in particle collider technology, similar to some previous administrations, Barack Obama’s Administration has greatly weakened that.  So much so, there is only one remaining U.S. particle accelerator and it is at risk of being gutted or shut down (Matson J. Nuclear Decelerator: Last U.S. Particle Collider is on Chopping Block.  Scientific American, August 24, 2012). This is an area where Europe has clearly gained the lead over the U.S.A. since Barack Obama became president…

The Bible shows that the Beast will have special help from “unclean spirits” (Revelation 16:13) and will be considered to be unconquerable (Revelation 13:4).

Notice what the Bible says about this:

3…And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:3-4, NKJV)

Notice that the military power of the Beast was something that the world will marvel, be astonished about.  Why?  Because no one really thought that the European Beast power had the military ability to defeat the U.S.A. with its Anglo-allies (Daniel 11:39), and then the Islamic King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43).  Revelation 13:3-4 also supports the idea that the Beast may rise up because of violent civil unrest in Europe.

Technology may be key to a powerful European military.  One aspect could include particle collider research.  The number of colliders in the U.S.A. has dwindled down to one under the Obama and Bush Administrations, and the remaining one is facing budget cuts and possible closure.  Yet, in Europe, it now has the leading one in the world, CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and in 2012, Germany announced that it is planning a possibly even more advanced one called FAIR (FAIR stands for the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research).

I believe that Germany’s FAIR, along with the LHC and other technology, will help the Europeans produce military weaponry to fulfill certain end time prophecies. Since Revelation 13:4 is discussing what seems to be a unique type of warfare, this warfare likely includes certain high-tech weapons (electromagnetic pulse, neutron, unique delivery systems, etc.) that will be effective for a while (ultimately the Europeans will be overcome by what appears to be a Russian-led, mainly Asian, confederation, cf. Jeremiah 50:41-43 & Daniel 11:44, possibly by exploiting some technological flaw, like creating a software virus, etc., while also amassing troops, etc.). The FAIR and the LHC projects are also likely to spin-off economic benefits that may help propel Europe to be (for a short while) the economic leader of the world (cf. Revelation 18).

While the U.S.A., Australia, and others are currently worried mostly about China, the European developments will not be good for the Anglo-descended lands, including England.  (Thiel B.   Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States-Second Edition for Second Obama Term.  Nazarene Books, 2013, pp. 47, 121-122)

Large physics projects tend to produce military weaponry. And by not having the more conventional military equipment like tanks in Germany, the USA itself will not be in a position to as effectively deal with whatever high-tech military equipment that Europe develops.

The power in Europe is starting to rise up. And yes, ultimately, I believe that Galileo or similar technology, as well as what is likely to come from Europe’s Large Hadron Collider and/or Germany’s FAIR collider, will be used to as part of an attack on American (USA and possibly Canadian) forces, as well as to help prevent counter-strikes.

Europe is moving forward with its space and military plans and few in the USA seem to realize that when it gets enough power, the USA will lose all of its.

The understanding of the Continuing Church of God that the Europeans will be able to attack and takeover the United States and its Anglo-descended allies (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11; Daniel 11:39) is correct and will come to pass. And as I have speculated for years, the Large Hadron Collider and similar projects may be a factor in making that happen.

Israel shot down a drone, from Lebanon, which may have ties to Syria today:

The Israeli Air Force shot down a drone over the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday off the coast of Haifa which had flown south from Lebanon…

It was not immediately clear whether the drone was armed or not. The IDF was searching for the remains of the drone in the Mediterranean.

This is happening at the same time that the Syrian opposition is accusing some in Lebanon of supporting Syria’s President Assad against them:

Syria’s opposition is accusing the Lebanese Hezbollah movement of declaring war on the Syrian people amid reports the Shi’ite militia’s fighters have joined government forces in a battle against rebels in the central province of Homs.

Anti-government activists in the Syrian town of al-Qusayr, outside Homs, have reported mounting Hezbollah casualties in the last week as fighting heats up in the strategic pocket along the Lebanese border.

The opposition Syrian Revolution General Commission said Free Syrian Army forces killed 18 Hezbollah fighters in clashes earlier this week.

An activist who uses the pseudonym Abo Emad said that Hezbollah has been firing rockets into the area from the hills above Lebanon’s northern Bekaa Valley for months.  He said FSA fighters retook two villages in the fighting, capturing 10 Hezbollah militiamen and killing a commander.

“We took some prisoners and have their [identification cards],” said Abo Emad.  “Because of the clashes and the battle we now have 10 prisoners and a lot of [additional Hezbollah fighters] were killed,” he said.  http://www.voanews.com/content/syria-opposition-accuses-hezbollah-of-widening-war/1648619.html

Hezbollah has denied sending the drone, but obviously someone did:

JERUSALEM – After Israel’s military shot down a drone Thursday, suspicion quickly fell on Hezbollah, which denied sending the unmanned aircraft.

The militant Lebanese Hezbollah group denied responsibility for sending the drone in a one-line statement that flashed as an urgent news bar on the group’s Al Manar TV.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, whose helicopter was temporarily grounded as a result of the situation, called the drone — the second one shot down by Israel in the past six months — “a very serious issue” and said he viewed the infiltration attempt with “utmost gravity.”  http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/04/25/israel-hezbollah-drone/2112127/

Between Israel’s contention that Syria is using chemical weapons and hence crossed the “red line” that is to lead to war (Iran’s nuclear program crossed red line? Syria’s chemical weapons crossed red line? Karl zu Guttenberg: ‘Germany must have Israel’s back’), troops coming from Lebanon, and now a drone shot down from apparently somewhere in Lebanon, the drum beats of war in this area appear to be increasing.

While Israel will end up with problems, it should be pointed out that both biblical and Islamic prophecy tell of the destruction of at least parts of Syria, such as its capital Damascus. Here is some of what Bible prophecies teaches:

7 thus says the Lord God: “It shall not stand, Nor shall it come to pass. 8 For the head of Syria is Damascus (Isaiah 7:7-8)

3 Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they have threshed Gilead with implements of iron. (Amos 1:3)

1 The burden against Damascus. “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap. (Isaiah 17:1)

23 Against Damascus. “Hamath and Arpad are shamed, For they have heard bad news. They are fainthearted; There is trouble on the sea; It cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus has grown feeble; She turns to flee, And fear has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in labor. 25 Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy? 26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts. 27 “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad.” (Jeremiah 49:23-27)

This destruction could come as the result of the current civil war. And if the Assad regime becomes more engaged in a conflict with Israel, that could also fulfill the above.

Furthermore, because the Bible suggests that Syria will be involved in a confederation of North African and Middle Eastern nations (Ezekiel 30:1-8; Psalm 83:4-8) who will support a leader that the Bible refers to as the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43), this likely means that the Assad regime will have to at least change, if not completely fall, and that whatever regime replaces it, it will most likely agree to be in this prophesied confederation. A confederation that is also prophesied to fail. The Muslim Brotherhood has long pushed for the type of confederation that the Bible warns will involve many Arabic nations.

As I have long written, partially because of the internal civil war in Syria, Syria’s President Assad may decide that attacking Israel, probably in conjunction with support from Iran and/or other allies, is his best carnal option (which could include supporting Iran if it attacks Israel or Israel attacks it). Attacking Israel in more direct ways, however, will not be his best option (he should repent and probably leave office), though he may do that. Since the Bible suggests that Syria will support the coming final King of the South it will come to pass.

More trouble is coming to Damascus as it will be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1). An Islamic confederation that will include the land of Syria is coming (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:1-8; Psalm 83:4-8) is coming.

“And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:37).

Temple Institute Altar

Earlier this week, the Temple Institute reported a disturbance at the Temple Mount:

Muslim women who tried to physically prevent Jews from visiting the Temple Mount were arrested, police say.

Several of the Muslim women who repeatedly attempted to physically block Jews from visiting the Temple Mount were arrested, police have said.

Police commander Avi Biton reported the arrests in a letter to Michael Puah, who had sent a letter of complaint over the women’s provocative actions.  http://www.templeinstitute.org/news.htm

The Temple Institute would like to resume animal sacrifices, and if possible, also build a temple on the Temple Mount.  It is frequently reports about problems and issues in that area.

But the Temple Institute does more than report about the Temple Mount.  In December 2009 it was reported that the Temple Institute finished a sacrificial altar of unhewn stones and has many of the associated implements (Temple Institute Completes Altar of Unhewn Stones), which in theory could be used for animal sacrifices.

Though many feel that the Jews must have a physical temple prior to the arrival of the final Antichrist, the reality is that the Jews do not need temple to perform animal sacrifices (Ezra 3:6), only an altar–which they already have, plus governmental permission–which they do not completely have. The first Passovers in the Bible were done well prior to the construction of any temple.

I also wrote the reconstituted Sanhedrin several years ago to confirm my biblically-based belief that the Jews could re-implement animal sacrifices without the building of an actual temple.  Here is the response I received:

He who slaughters a Sacrifice in this period [when we have no Temple], and offered the sacrifice outside the Azara [the alloted area of the Temple] – is culpable, because the offering must be performed in the Azara, SINCE IT IS PERMITTED TO PERFORM SACRIFICES despite having no Temple, since the sanctity of the Temple is eternal.

Paragraph 18:

He who slaughters the sacrifice of a gentile outside the Azara is culpable, as is one who performs the offering. NON JEWS are permitted to offer burnt-offerings anywhere, on an alkter which they built. Jews may not help them in the performance of this sacrifice, since Jews may not offer sacrifices outside the Azara. But we may instruct them and teach them how to perform sacrificesto the ASlmighty God, Blessed be He.

Additionally, it is worth noting that on 5766, Rabbi Benyamin Fuss published a 445 page book on Sacrifices of non-jews, of which the text proper is of 372 pages [the rest are indices, etc.] called Torat Habamah: Regarding sacrifices on an Altar outside the Temple. (Email from the Sanhedrin webmaster Abrahamson to Bob Thiel September 17, 2008).

Rabbi Yeshayahu Hollander is the English language spokesman for the nascent Sanhedrin.

The webmaster of the Sanhedrin added the following in a subsequent email:

This quote comes from Maimonides’ (Rambam) work the Mishneh Torah.

The nascent Sanhedrin sees itself as the continuation of rabbinic jurisprudence, and must take into account all halachic works written to date, and proceed from there. (Email from the Sanhedrin webmaster Abrahamson to Bob Thiel September 17, 2008).

Thus, it appears to be a longstanding position of some Jewish scholars that Jewish sacrifices can be started on an altar and, as long as it is in the area of the old temple, that a physical temple is not first required.

This is also consistent with the belief of the late Herbert W. Armstrong:

God made a prophecy in the third chapter of Malachy…Continuing, “…shall suddenly come to His temple…” What kind of temple is He coming to? Are the Jews going to tear down the Dome of the Rock and build a new temple? Oh, no!… A holy temple! Christ is coming to His church! Christ is coming to His temple! Do we see that? The church is the temple. “…in whom ye are also builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” (Armstrong, Herbert W. Congress of Leading Ministers Hears Defined and Reemphasized Spiritual Organization of Church. Worldwide News, March 6, 1981, p. 10)

And while some have made a variety of false claims about Herbert Armstrong and the fulfillment of Daniel 11:31, notice what he actually wrote:

But, verse 11, “from the time the daily sacrifice shall be taken away . . . . ” Consider this a moment. This does NOT imply a material temple to be built in our time in Jerusalem. It does seem to imply the Israelis may restore the daily (twice daily) sacrifice – – possibly at the wailing wall. The indication is the armies of the “beast” of Revelation 17, entering Jerusalem (Dan. 11:41, Zech. 14:2), will stop this daily sacrifice. (Armstrong, Herbert W. The Time We Are In, Now. Pastor General’s Report-Vol 1, No. 15, November 20, 1979, Page 2)

Israeli courts have agreed that Jews have the right to perform animal sacrifices, but have repeatedly denied this right as the timing would have excessively negative consequences. And to rebuild a temple in the area that the Muslims consider sacred would be even more problematic politically–especially at this instant.

Of course, in a nation as politically fragmented as modern Israel, the time may come when a ruling coalition will itself have in it some members of a small religious group that will insist on the resumption of sacrifices on the Temple Moun for it to remain in office. And allowing sacrifices on a small altar certainly would seem politically more plausible than the construction of a Jewish temple on the dome of the rock or otherwise next to the al-Aqsa Mosque. While this may not be seen as viable in every possible Israeli administration, it certainly is a possibility for a future one.

The Bible is clear that sacrifices will be stopped by the final King of the North (Daniel 9:27; 11:31). And in order for them to be stopped, they must start first. And while a temple could be built for that purpose, politically and biblically, the idea that sacrifices will start on an altar outside a rebuilt temple is more likely. The fact that almost half of Israelis support the idea of a temple being rebuilt strongly suggests that a significant amount of them would support the idea of sacrifices–with or without a rebuilt temple.

And this will happen, though probably not yet (though some sacrifices could still be done in Israel that are not related to the prophecies in Daniel).

We are now just a few weeks away from Pentecost and of our hope in the return of Jesus as the ruling Messiah   the Christ. There is much to be fulfilled and a very short time for it to happen…

With a more meaningful understanding that God has recently given us concerning the use of the term “Assyria” for this end-time, coupled with the strong reality of a great spiritual war that has been raging against God’s Church, God is giving more insight into meaning contained in the Trumpets of Revelation…

Our Father has shown that we have not fully grasped the use of the term “Assyria” in prophecy. In this end-time, that term is not specifically about Germany any more than the term “Egypt” is about that actual country. Throughout the time during Philadelphia and Laodicea, it was believed that the captivity of Israel would be by Germany (Assyria), instead of understanding that it is about a captivity of government that has engulfed the scattered nations of Israel. It is with the physical interpretation of this that this piece of the puzzle seemed to fit into the Fifth Trumpet. Although it is through the leadership of Germany that the Euro and European Union brings to light the kind of captivity that has taken Israel, the Fifth Trumpet is actually about God’s Church, both the remnant and that which was scattered. Germany’s involvement is about events that occur throughout the fulfillment of the First Trumpet as a result of the resurrection of the old Roman Empire. The greater meaning of the Fifth Trumpet is about a spirit war in this time we are in now.

While Pentecost for 2013 is rapidly approaching (Pentecost is May 19, 2013), the reality is that it is not possible that Jesus will return next month.  Pentecost May 19, 2013 is Ronald Weinland’s third false date for the return of Jesus Christ.  Last year, he did not refer to Jesus’ return as a “hope” but he insisted on it, but was again proven wrong.

Historically, when Ronald Weinland is proven wrong, he tends to spiritualize away scriptures.  That is what he is now doing with Assyria in prophecy.

Even though they are unwittingly unaware of it.

He has claimed for some time that 63,000 would join with him by the time that Jesus returns.  There is no indication that 62,000 plus will join with those who are now with CGPFKG

For those unfamiliar with him, Ronald Weinland was a former WCG then UCG minister who falsely claimed to be a pr.ophet and one of the two witnesses (he claimed that his wife was the second of the witnesses). He has also falsely claimed to be the end time Elijah, an Apostle, etc. He was again proven wrong in May 2012 when Jesus did not return as he insisted He would. He was convicted of multiple counts of income tax fraud in June 2012 (see CGPFKG’s Ron Weinland Found Guilty of Income Tax Evasion) and went to prison for in on February 1, 2013 (see CGPFKG’s Ronald Weinland to report to prison today).

I have denounced Ronald Weinland since 2005/2006 and while his predictions have repeatedly proven to have been wrong, every denouncement of his predictions that I posted here have been correct.

The main point of COGwriter posts about him is to warn all not to let false prophets, false apostles, and heretical leaders like Ron Weinland turn people away from the God of the Bible.  Hopefully, people who not listen to him or others who spiritualize away or otherwise misunderstand prophecy.

An Israeli official has claimed that Iran’s nuclear program has crossed the proverbial ‘red line’:

Iran has crossed the nuclear red line set by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, former Military Intelligence chief Maj.-Gen. (res.) Amos Yadlin announced on Tuesday…

Netanyahu has defined Israel’s red line regarding Iran as the possession of 250 kg. of uranium enriched to the 20 percent level, known as medium-enriched uranium…

According to an International Atomic Energy Agency report released in February, Tehran has not crossed that point, but has already amassed 167 kg. of uranium enriched to that level.

“By the summer, Iran will be a month or two away from a decision about the bomb,” Yadlin said at the INSS conference, adding that the decision whether to advance beyond that will be made after Iran’s presidential elections in June.

Whether Amos Yadlin is correct that the ‘red line’ has already been crossed, it obviously appears to be closer.  On the other hand, it is possible that Iran’s next presidential election will impact all of this.

There was another ‘red line’ that is claimed to have been crossed, and that involves Syria and chemical weapons:

JERUSALEM — Israel’s accusation that Syria used chemical weapons against rebels raises the prospect that Damascus crossed what President Obama has termed a “red line,” but appears unlikely to overcome deep resistance of the U.S. and its allies to military involvement in the country’s civil war.

Brig. Gen. Itai Brun, Israel’s top military intelligence analyst, said at a security conference in Tel Aviv on Tuesday that Syria used chemical weapons, probably a sarin-based nerve agent, in attacks March 19 near Aleppo and Damascus. He said the assessment was based on reports of victims foaming at the mouth and having constricted pupils.

The disclosure followed similar assessments last week by Britain and France, which asked the United Nations to investigate.

U.S. officials say they are evaluating the reports that the beleaguered Syrian government unleashed its stockpile of chemical weapons, by some estimates the third-largest in the world. I reported on the British and French claim earlier (Britain and France claim Syria has used chemical weapons, while Israel considers a military strike).  The USA appears to wish to wait before is more directly involved militarily in Syria, but it recently doubled funding of what has been termed ‘nonlethal aid’ to the opposition there (US to double aid to Muslim Brotherhood dominated group in Syria; Qatar supporting Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt).  Because of evidence from Israel, France, and Britain, the USA may decide it has no choice but to take much more direct military action.

A regional war involving Iran, Israel, the USA, and/or Syria is likely.

Since Iran, however, is NOT really south of Jerusalem (though it may support such a king per certain interpretations of the peoples listed in Ezekiel 30:1-9), it will not be the final King of the South of Bible prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:40-43). Because of that, I have tended to believe that Iran may somehow get “neutralized” before this final king fully rises up. A serious attack by the USA and/or Israel may neutralize Iran and much of its influence. It also may take a regional war for the seven-year confirmation of the deal in Daniel 9:27 to come about.

My reading and re-reading of Bible prophecy simply does not show that Iran will be a major player in Daniel 11:21-44 nor the deal of Psalm 83:4-8 (Arabs, Turks, and Europeans are); though Ezekiel 30:1-9 possibly implicates Iran as a supporter of an end-time confederation involving Egypt.  Yet, the same passages strongly suggest that Syria will support the final King of the South, so I have long believed that the Assad regime will be replaced or at least changed.

Damascus the capital of Syria, is prophesied to be destroyed according to Isaiah 17:1 and this destruction could allow for the rising of the prophesied King of the South to rise up (revolution in Iran, is also another possibility, for its “neutralization”).

Leaders in the USA and Israel have suggested that they may intervene and attack Iran and Syria. But if the USA and Israel do hit one or more of them, Iran and/or Syria would likely not fare well, but that does not mean that the USA would not suffer.

The reality is that the cost to the USA and/or Israel for a regional war involving Iran and/or Syria will be higher than many in the USA or Israel believe. Between terrorist acts, sustained resistance, chemical weapons (Syria Reportedly Has Loaded Chemical Weapons into Bombs), biological weapons, EMP-type bombs (EMP attack can do more than knock-out electricity), and/or even disruptions of the internet (Iran Believed to be Behind Cyber-Attacks Against US Banks), Iran and/or Syria can inflict significant damage to their enemies. The possible cyber-attacks are just one more way Iran can cause consternation (it may be both on the receiving and sending end of that as well as EMP attacks).

Yet, the USA and the tiny of nation of Israel will not be eliminated by Iran and/or Syria–it will come later, by the King of the North (cf. Daniel 11:39).

Germany Must Have Israel’s Back

As Israel’s new government takes office, chances are that in 2013 the crisis over Iran’s nuclear program will finally come to a head. Tightened international sanctions have crippled Iran’s economy, but Tehran continues to power ahead with its uranium-enrichment efforts. Negotiations with the P5+1 group are being drawn out, buying the regime valuable time to build 3,000 next-generation centrifuges and to disperse them around the country in increasingly hardened sites.

Speaking to the European Parliament last month, Israeli President Shimon Peres called Iran “the greatest danger to peace in the world.” Days earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Tehran is nearing the “red line,” and that sanctions must be “coupled with a clear and credible military threat” in case diplomacy and economic pressure fail.

Germany bears a special historical and moral responsibility to support Israel against an Iranian threat…There can be no doubt that Germany is Israel’s closest and most vital ally in Europe. The two countries enjoy exceptionally close defense and intelligence ties. Berlin provided significant funding to help Israel acquire Germany’s advanced “Dolphin” submarines, a critical boost to the Israeli Defense Forces’ deterrence capability…

Berlin should also start thinking about how to support Israel in the wake of potential air strikes on Iran. It is better to develop a plan now than to engage in hectic ad-hoc decision making once the crisis has erupted. Germany’s first priority should be to offer Israel civil and military assistance to defend against potential counterattacks…

Baron Guttenberg was embarrassed by a plagiarism scandal in 2011, then resigned and went on a self-imposed exile to the USA.  However, he writes and lectures and is keeping himself in the media often enough so that he is not forgotten. He is one who, however, could possibly be the final Beast/King of the North of biblical prophecy or at least one who may be involved in his rise.  And since that individual will apparently confirm some type of deal with Israel, and then betray it (Daniel 9:27; 11:31), speaking out as a friend of Israel at this point may help him have influence with Israel later.

There are more than a dozen New Testament admonitions to watch and be alert to the signs of the times in the last days (see Matthew 24:42-44; 25:13; Mark 13:33-37; Luke 21:34-36; Acts 20:31; 1 Thessalonians 5:6, 20).

The world is changing and the situations with Israel, Syria, Iran, Germany, and the USA should be watched.
