The cracks in the NATO alliance appear to be getting larger after statements by Europeans and Donald Trump this week.
The German news source, Deutsche Welle reported the following:

NATO has hundreds and hundreds of pages of detailed military plans on how to protect itself against attack, but the scenarios of deterrence and defense always envisioned an external adversary. There’s no playbook on how to handle President Donald Trump’s ramped-up threats to take over territory of an ally by any means necessary. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte’s strategy so far has been to remain silent, which won’t work for long.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has sought to tamp down the US appetite by warning Monday that “if the US chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then everything stops, including NATO and thus the security that has been established since the end of the Second World War.”
Talk not cheap for NATO credibility
But even short of — or perhaps ahead of — any military movements, the impact of the escalating rhetoric alone cannot be underestimated. …
Some observers suggest one solution could be NATO’s European allies sending troops to Greenland, to show Trump they are taking its defense seriously and that any unilateral deployment from the US would be unnecessary. Steven Everts, director of the European Union Institute for Security Studies, said there is value in that but only for the right reasons.
“Europeans ought to be taking Arctic security seriously,” he said, “and if there are gaps, then we should try to fill them.” …
One of Vistisen’s EU colleagues, Per Clausen of the Left group, believes it’s the other side of Brussels that may hold the power to influence this situation. …
“If we accept this agreement while Trump is threatening the international order and making direct territorial claims against Denmark,” Clausen’s letter states, “it will be seen as rewarding his action and will only be adding fuel to the fire.”
“We have a lot things we could do that could harm the US very much, if you’re talking about the economy,” Clausen said. “And I think we should make it totally clear for the United States that we want to use this weapon if the US doesn’t stop with aggression against Greenland.” …
Patrik Oksanen of the Stockholm Free World Forum said the severity of the situation deserves that and more. Donald Trump is totally right when he doubts NATO will be there to help the USA when it really will need its NATO military allies. He is also correct that without USA defense assurances, the rest of NATO–meaning basically the Europeans, do not have the ability to stop nations like Russia and China militarily.

Furthermore, at a conference in 2025, Herr Guttenberg referred to “bully Trump” and said Europe needed to be achieve an independent military defense so that it no longer needs to dependent on the USA (Winkler T. Geeint gegen den “Bully Trump.” MeinBezirk, January 9, 2025). An unintended consequence of Donald Trump’s presidency may be the rise of Barron Guttenberg. (p. 56)
Now, another reality is that there are many in Europe that wanted Donald Trump to win the 2024 election as they believe that will help motivate Europe to arm itself and become more independent of the USA (p. 58)
Many in the USA do not seem to realize that once Europeans are spending more for their militaries, they will also expect to have more independence from the USA as to how military might will be used. (p. 63)
Donald Trump’s rise has also spurred the Europeans to further unify among themselves. (p. 88)
While PESCO is not yet capable of eliminating the USA, in 2024 it reportedly was helping lay the groundwork which is “leading to greater European strategic autonomy independent of the United States.” (p. 115)
Chapter 11 of the Book of Daniel discusses various leaders, including those known as the King of the North and the King of the South. The one who will be the King of the North is prophesied to rise up “When the transgressors have reached their fullness” (Daniel 8:23), which suggests that this is about when God has had enough of the increasing immorality in nations like the USA and its British-descended allies. … the King of the North will do things that he had not told the USA he would do; … (p. 119)
This King will employ deceit:
21 … he shall come in peaceably, and seize the kingdom by intrigue. (Daniel 11:21)
23 “And in the latter time of their kingdom, When the transgressors have reached their fullness, A king shall arise, Having fierce features, Who understands sinister schemes. 24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; He shall destroy fearfully, And shall prosper and thrive; He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.
25 “Through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule; And he shall exalt himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity. (Daniel 8:23-25)
The King of the North will deceitfully proclaim “peace and safety” while plotting for the sudden destruction of those opposing him (1 Thessalonians 5:2–3). He will destroy the mighty American-British alliance.
Because of not accepting and understanding biblical prophecies, many political and other leaders will be hoping for and believing in a false peace. The sudden destruction to come is likely to include a nuclear or other high tech attack, and could possibly happen in conjunction with a NATO training or other exercise that would catch the USA and its Anglo-Saxon-Celtic allies off guard. Other nations are likely to also be involved.
The USA will be attacked by “friends” consistent with the following:
1 How lonely sits the city
That was full of people!
How like a widow is she,
Who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces
Has become a slave!
2 She weeps bitterly in the night,
Her tears are on her cheeks;
Among all her lovers
She has none to comfort her.
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
They have become her enemies. cf. Lamentations 1:1-2).
Notice the one who was “great among the nations” will be conquered by friends, who will become enemies.
The USA was prophesied to be “great” in Genesis 48:19 and is considered by international sources to be great among the nations of the world today. … (pp. 139-141)
The time will come when the USA and NATO will be no more. NATO or other arrangements could give the Europeans cover for publicly preparing for a military event, while giving it the ability to publicly state that such preparations are only parts of an exercise. The Germans have historically used the element of surprise to gain military advantage—remember WWII and blitzkrieg? Europe one day will turn on the USA (Lamentations 1:1-2, Daniel 11:39; Isaiah 10:5-12). Weapons of mass destruction, and not necessarily just nuclear, will be employed. (p. 143)
While Donald Trump seems to believe that his policies are best for the United States, notice some unintended consequences of them: (p. 210)
- Although, overall, the European nations have not paid for their defense to the amount they have suggested they would, pressuring them to spend more will 1) encourage them to be independent of the USA and 2) put Europe in a position where it has a great army (Daniel 11:25), many ships (Daniel 11:40), and access to nuclear weapons (cf. Deuteronomy 29:23-25; Isaiah 9:19-21;Ezekiel 6:6), which will help it conquer the USA, which is the military power with the strongest fortresses (cf. Daniel 11:39). (pp. 211-212)
Unintended consequences of Donald Trump’s statements and actions include the fact that Europe is arming, plans to arm more, wants to be militarily independent of the USA, will have more control over NATO, and is not pleased with Donald Trump or the USA.
One day Europe will conquer the USA per biblical prophecies such as Daniel 11:39, Lamentations 1:1-2, and Isaiah 10:5-11.
For over a decade, I have warned that Europe may attack the USA under the guise of a NATO or some other military-related exercise. The Bible tells us that this coming European leader “shall come in peaceably, and seize the kingdom by intrigue” (Daniel 11:21). That is consistent with what I have long warned.
Arguments with NATO, or even the possible withdrawing of the USA from NATO, will NOT end up well for the USA.
While Europe publicly is still supportive of NATO, in the end Europe will betray the NATO members of the USA, Canada, and UK.

There are bills being promoted by US politicians in both the US Senate and the US House of Representatives to have the USA leave NATO alliance by 2027. There is also the new National Security Strategy report from the Trump Administration which looks to change NATO. Europe is offended, but is preparing for this to take place. How so? By taking economic (expanding trade relations) and military (by increased spending and added troops) steps And it is the military preparations by Europe that should most concern the United States.
