WP on Hillary Clinton and the State of the GOP debate

The Washington Post had two stories that caught my attention today.

Here are some excerpts from the first:

The renewed talk of a possible presidential run for Vice President Joe Biden in 2016 reveals two political facts about Hillary Clinton’s candidacy — facts that tell the dueling realities of her 2016 political campaign.

Let’s start with the second fact first. And it is: Hillary Clinton has major image problems with the general electorate, problems that lead Democrats to somewhat openly wonder whether it might be time to mount a more serious primary challenge to her in the form of Biden.

…Clinton does have serious image problems. Her favorability numbers have collapsed since she became a candidate and large majorities — especially of those who identify as independents — do not believe she is honest and trustworthy. …

Now, to the other indisputable fact of the Clinton candidacy: She is going to be very, very hard to beat in a Democratic primary.

The above article showed two polls taken amongst likely Democratic voters. The first showed that Hillary Clinton would get 68% of the votes, and the second, if Vice President Joe Biden runs, 63%.

FWIW, perhaps I should mention that two radio interviewers asked me about Joe Biden entering the race. Basically, I said that it would be hard for him to win, but that if he feels that emailgate and other matters could knock Hillary Clinton out, that he might have a chance for the Democratic nomination.

The last few national polls are trickling in, finalizing which Republicans are in and which are out for this week’s first 2016 debate in Cleveland. It’s only the ten with the highest polling averages, remember, meaning that John Kasich’s well-timed announcement bump has displaced Rick Perry, whose attempt to pick a fight with Donald Trump very much did not work. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/08/02/the-state-of-the-gop-debate-sunday-august-2/

That GOP poll listed the top ten as follows:

Donald Trump 19.8%
Scott Walker 13.2%
Jeb Bush 12.8%
Rand Paul 6.4%
Ben Carson 6.4%
Marco Rubio 6.2%
Mike Huckabee 5.8%
Ted Cruz 5.8%
Chris Christie 5.2%
John Kasich 5.2%

Despite the polls showing Donald Trump on top, Hillary Clinton acts like she believes that Jeb Bush will be the Republican nominee. Polls that I have seen suggest that Hillary Clinton would beat Jeb Bush, Donald Trump, or Scott Walker, but she is not unbeatable and we will see what will happen.

Ben Carson is the only Sabbath-keeper of the group, but I do not believe he has a very strong following or knows enough about what the USA truly needs.

The USA needs national repentance, otherwise it is doomed–Bible prophecy shows that it will be taken over because of its debts (Habakkuk 2:6-8), despite having the world’s strongest military (Daniel 11:39). The Bible also says that most people will NOT believe that even if it were told to them:

5 “Look among the nations and watch —
Be utterly astounded!
For I will work a work in your days
Which you would not believe, though it were told you.
6 For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans,
A bitter and hasty nation
Which marches through the breadth of the earth,
To possess dwelling places that are not theirs. (Habakkuk 1:5-6)

While people will not believe it, the USA will be destroyed. Habakkuk also warned that the time will come when people should run as the prophecies for what will happen are so severe (Habakkuk 2:2-3). While we are NOT yet at that time (cf. Matthew 24:6), we are getting closer. The 2016 election will not fix the biblically serious problems of the USA.

It is almost impossible to believe that the next USA president would call for meaningful repentance before the USA is hit with more massive problems. The USA needs the return of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
