The cliché is that polarisation, extreme inequality and fake news et cetera are problems plaguing the west. In fact, they are, above all, problems plaguing the US. Whereas western Europe just has a bad cold, the US has caught influenza (with Donald Trump as a symptom, not the cause). The US now probably resembles Brazil or Argentina more than it does Germany or Spain. The one western European country that shares much of the US’s dysfunction is the UK, but even it probably won’t produce a Trump. Here’s why the US is far more unstable than western Europe: Inequality is much worse in the US. The country’s Gini coefficient after taxes and transfers (a good measure of inequality) is 0.394, higher than anywhere in western Europe, according to the OECD. The only western European country that approaches US inequality is Britain, as witness the disaster at London’s Grenfell tower block in wealthy Kensington. The UK also (unusually for Europe) has less social mobility than the US. …

Poor Americans live worse than poor Europeans. American life expectancy averages 79, against 81.5 in impoverished, heavy-smoking Greece, and 83 in Italy. This isn’t only down to diet, though sugar’s omnipresence in the US in itself represents a triumph of industry lobbying. Note also that European countries typically offer free or cheap university tuition. The state gives Europeans a lot, and most of them know it. Political polarisation is worse in the US. Coalition systems such as Germany’s discourage polarisation, because centrist parties usually wind up in government. But in France, too, Emmanuel Macron became president claiming to be “neither left nor right”. …

Western Europe’s media landscape is also less polarised than America’s, says the Reuters Institute’s recent Digital News Report. Most European countries have major media that are trusted by both rightists and leftists. These can be boring state broadcasters, or the Ansa news agency in Italy, or Germany’s centrist mass media, says the report. Consequently, few western Europeans inhabit ideological “filter bubbles”. While Europe may not end up with a political leader who uses Twitter like Donald Trump, do not believe for one minute that Europe will not turn to a stronger, bolder, leader of its own. But one who is more of a smoother-talker. One with more of a European sophistication.

Actually, the rise of Donald Trump and some of his successes and policies have gotten the attention of various ones in Europe to consider a stronger leader for Europe is needed. Islamic issues are paving the way for a strongman to rise up in Europe.

Interestingly, when my wife and I were in Sweden several weeks ago, one Swede told me that he felt that Donald Trump was a breath of fresh air.

Now, the Financial Times is correct to imply that in today’s Europe there will not be a strongman leader. But in not too many years, Europe will change. And when it does, it will go for a strong and dictatorial leader. While Germany, Austria, Italy, and others did this prior to World War II, Europe will do this prior to the start of World War III.

Notice what the Bible prophesies:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:10-13)

A dictatorial leader will be given power in Europe.

Notice some of what the prophet Daniel was inspired to write about this coming dictatorial leader:

36 “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. 37 He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. 38 But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. 39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:36-39)

The “king” above is the European King of the North. He is also called the King of Assyria (Isaiah 10:12), which is a reference in the end-time to Germany/Central Europe.Verse 39 of Daniel 11 shows that this leader will takeover the strongest fortresses. That is the start of WWIII. And in the 21st century the strongest fortresses belong to the USA. Daniel 9:26-27 and other passages of scripture (Revelation 13:1-10 comes to immediate mind) demonstrate that this dictatorial leader will be European (watch also Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).

Notice something that the old Worldwide Church of God published in 1980:

Finally feeling the chilling embrace of Moscow, the German people may yet call for the Bavarian strongman — the one they feared in good times — to rescue them from their impending doom. (Hogberg G. WHERE Is WEST GERMANY Headed? Plain Truth, December 1980).

A Bavarian strongman would be someone from Bavaria in Germany. Let me add that there is another Bavarian strongman who I have kept my eye on who may one day rise up–and one who is NOT a fan of Donald Trump. His name is Karl-Theodor zu-Guttenberg (see Might German Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg become the King of the North?). A reader sent me a link a couple of days ago to a presentation that Herr Guttenberg gave in May of 2016 where he called for more passionate leaders in Europe. One such leader will arise.

Notice that the USA is no longer called a friend by German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s party:

In their campaign program for the German election, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservatives have dropped the term “friend” in describing the relationship with the United States.

Four years ago, the joint program of her Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and its Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU), referred to the United States as Germany’s “most important friend” outside of Europe.

The 2013 program also described the “friendship” with Washington as a “cornerstone” of Germany’s international relations and talked about strengthening transatlantic economic ties through the removal of trade barriers.

But the words “friend” and “friendship” are missing from the latest election program – entitled “For a Germany in which we live well and happily” – which Merkel and CSU leader Horst Seehofer presented on Monday ahead of a Sept. 24 election.

Instead, the United States is described as Germany’s “most important partner” outside of Europe. CDU officials were not immediately available to comment on the change in wording. …

The new CDU/CSU election program also repeats a line that Merkel used in a speech in Munich in late May after a difficult summit of G7 leaders, where Trump resisted pressure from six other nations to stay in the Paris agreement.

“The times in which we could fully rely on others are, to a certain extent, in the past. We Europeans must take our fate into our own hands more decisively than we have in the past,” the program reads.

The Germans want a military that is independent of the USA so Germany can survive.

The Bible tells of a time when a final Beast power will rise up–and that will be in Europe. Because of real divisions between the USA and Europe, Europe, despite the fact that it does not seem like it wants to will attack and takeover the USA.

5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. 6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few. 8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? 10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; 11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? 12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. (Isaiah 10:5-11, KJV)

The Bible talks about a beast of the sea that had a deadly wound to one of its heads that was healed:

3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. (Revelation 13:3)

While the above likely has multiple interpretations, such as with the old ‘Holy Roman Empire,’ could this not also refer to a leader whose political career and/or or an empire that was believed to have been destroyed, who later returns? As far as the “sea” goes, that is a reference to the Mediterranean Sea (watch also Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).

Notice the verse that comes after Revelation 13:3:

4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him? (Revelation 13:4)

Notice that this beast has military ability. The Bible teaches that the European King of the North will have a “great army” (Daniel 11:25).

While many do not think that much will happen with Europe’s military, the rise of Donald Trump has increased pressure on Europe to increase its military spending. Donald Trump, combined with Brexit, has emboldened some European leaders to call for a stronger European military.

Do not think that the rise of Donald Trump does not mean that Europe will not turn to its own “Europe first” spouting leader. The time for that is getting closer.
