USA reeling over shootings–could the Dallas shooter have had ties to Islam?

COGwriter

The recent shootings and protests are troubling many in the USA:

July 11, 2016

WASHINGTON—The United States finds itself beginning a new work week Monday after enduring a week of violence – two police shootings of African American men at point-blank range in Louisiana and Minnesota and the shooting deaths of five police officers in Dallas, Texas, at what was a peaceful demonstration against alleged police brutality.

Police in Dallas say gunman Micah Xavier Johnson had plans to deliver more destruction in Dallas.  Police Chief David Brown said “We’re convinced that this suspect had other plans and thought that what he was doing was righteous and believed that he was going to target law enforcement — make us pay for what he saw as law enforcement’s efforts to punish people of color.” …

Bomb-making materials and a rambling journal were found at Johnson’s home during a search.

“The materials were such that it was large enough to have devastating effects throughout or city and our North Texas area,” Brown said. …

The president plans to visit Dallas Tuesday and deliver remarks at a memorial service. Demonstrations have been held in many cities across the country in recent days with some confrontations between protesters and police, as well as numerous arrests.

“I would like all sides to listen to each other,” Obama said in reference to protestors such as those involved with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement and police organizations throughout the U.S. http://www.voanews.com/content/us-looks-ahead-after-a-week-of-deadly-violence/3412014.html

Dozens more people were arrested Sunday night as protests continued in Baton Rouge, La., following the fatal police shooting of Alton Sterling last week, authorities told NBC News.

At least 48 people had been were taken into custody by midnight Sunday, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. The new arrests followed more than 100 others that were made Saturday.

Among those arrested Saturday was DeRay Mckesson, a prominent leader of the Black Lives Matter movement. Mckesson, who released Sunday . . .

“Arrests were inevitable,” Col. Michael Edmonson, supervisor of the Louisiana State Police, said in a statement Sunday. “Our troopers maintained their poise and demeanor and focused on the job at hand, all the while enduring angry epithets and an occasional water bottle hurled from inside the crowd.”

Edmonson told the Times-Picayune newspaper of New Orleans that some officers were struck in their heads by hurled as police chased a large crowd after a tense standoff. http://www.aol.com/article/2016/07/11/48-more-arrests-made-as-protests-continue-in-baton-rouge-la/21429625/?icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl1|sec1_lnk2&pLid=243753939_htmlws-main-bb

Racially-motivated violence, like that done for sure by the Dallas shooter (and perhaps possibly by one or more of the police officers this week–and as that is being investigated that allegation is not publicly certain) is wrong.

Some suspect that the Dallas shooter may have had ties to Islam, though it appears his motivations were more racial:

July 10, 2016

Micah Xavier Johnson . . . was a black nationalist who showed affinity for the Nation of Islam. Johnson “liked” pages related to Elijah Muhamad, the Nation of Islam founder, as well as Facebook pages of the Black Riders Liberation Party, the New Black Panther Party and the African American Defense League. A group called the Black Power Political Organization took responsibility for the Dallas attack. …

  • Prior to the Dallas shooting, reported Heavy.com, a Black Lives Matter member reached out to ISIS on social media, and ISIS supporters have since commented on the attack.

July 10, 2016

The Dallas cop-killer frequented black-power events despite no official membership and was so committed that he wrote one group’s motto with his own blood.

DALLAS — Micah Johnson sought to join a black militant group two years before he targeted white police officers for death but was turned away after a background check.

Though shunned from groups like the People’s New Black Panther Party and the Black Riders Liberation Party, Johnson continued attending protests and events in the area, according to multiple people within the Dallas activist community.

Online, Johnson was loosely affiliated with the African American Defense League, the Black Riders Liberation Party, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, and South Dallas’ Muhammad Mosque Number 48, which is run by acolytes of Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam. Both the Houston and Dallas chapters of the People’s New Black Panther Party said unequivocally that Johnson was never a member of either group. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/07/11/micah-johnson-was-blacklisted-by-black-power-groups-as-unstable.html

July 8, 2016

Micah Johnson, 25, of Mesquite, Texas, was identified by police as the sniper who shot 12 people during a Black Lives Matter protest in downtown Dallas on Thursday night. By Friday, the authorities had found “bomb making materials, ballistic vests, rifles, ammunition, and a personal journal of combat tactics” in the Army veteran’s apartment—evidence suggesting that the killings might have been only one part of Johnson’s violent plans.

Johnson left the Army “under a cloud of sexual harassment charges made by a fellow soldier who sought an order of protection against him and said he needed mental health counseling.” And on social media, Johnson left traces of a militant mindset. Johnson’s profile photo on Facebook shows him in a dashiki, holding a clenched fist in the air. Johnson’s cover photos are a black liberation flag and a black power fist. …

Johnson did not explicitly identify himself as a member of the Nation of Islam, a militant black Muslim group, but liked pages relating to Elijah Mohammed, the group’s deceased founder. Johnson also liked several militant and black separatist groups such as The New Black Panther Party and the African American Defense League.

The league posted on Facebook after Johnson’s massacre: “ATTACK EVERYTHING IN BLUE EXCEPT THE MAIL MAN, UNLESS HE IS CARRYING MORE THAN MAIL.” http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/07/08/micah-johnson-dallas-cop-killer-was-black-nationalist.html

Update, 7/8: Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings today identified a suspect as Micah X. Johnson, a resident of Mesquite. Micah X. appears to have been named after Malcolm X., one of the founding members of the Nation of Islam. “While in prison, Malcolm X became a member of the Nation of Islam, and after his parole in 1952, quickly rose to become one of the organization’s most influential leaders.”

Micah Xavier Johnson, who died in a shootout with police, told authorities he was upset about recent police shootings and ‘wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.’ He is the only suspect Dallas police have publicly identified so far, and also the only dead suspect. http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/5-dallas-shooting-suspects-muslims-attended-south-dallas-mosque/

The ‘ties to Islam’ that Micah X. Johnson may have had to Islam seem tenuous. What is clear is that he plotted to kill, and wanted to kill white people. Violence against people for their race is wrong.

The following report caught my attention:

‘Black Lives Matter’ Member Had Reached Out to ISIS

July 8, 2016

Prior to the deadly shooting carried out by Micah Xavier Johnson that killed 5 police officers in Dallas last night, a BLM member had reached out to the Islamic State on social media. Supporters of the so-called Islamic State have since commented on the attack. http://heavy.com/news/2016/07/micah-xavier-johnson-dallas-sniper-sniping-police-shooting-black-lives-matter-blm-isis-islamic-state/

The item above showed a Facebook post from an alleged ‘Blacks Lives Matter’ supporter who basically called out for the Islamic State to kill every time a black person was killed.

Obama defends Black Lives Matter movement as protests heat up

July 10, 2016

During a visit to Spain early Sunday morning, President Obama defended the Black Lives Matter movement and the right of activists to demonstrate in cities across the United States, following a long night of ongoing protests over the highly public deaths last week of two black men at the hands of police.

“One of the great things about America is that individual citizens and groups of citizens can petition their government, can protest, can speak truth to power,” Mr. Obama told reporters in Madrid. “And that is sometimes messy and controversial but because of that ability to protest and engage in free speech, America over time has gotten better. We’ve all benefited from that.”

The president pointed to sometimes contentious demonstrations in American history — spawned by abolitionists, suffragettes, civil rights activists, and others — that faced criticisms similar to the Black Lives Matter movement.

“There were times when activists engaged in rhetoric that was overheated and occasionally counterproductive,” Mr. Obama conceded, “but the point was to raise issues… I think what you’re seeing now is part of that long standing tradition.” http://www.cbsnews.com/news/obama-defends-black-lives-matter-movement-as-protests-heat-up/

Some believe that US President Barack Obama has fanned the flames of violence. Here is one:

July 10, 2016

Judge Jeanine Pirro said the Dallas police ambush is a reflection of a growing racial divide in America, a divide that was created by President Obama.”Dallas was about anarchy. It was about lawlessness. It was about the rhetoric that too easily inflames those who feel wronged, rhetoric that does nothing but repeatedly stoke the flames and scars of old wounds resolved long ago,” Judge Jeanine said.

She explained that whether it’s the death of Trayvon Martin in Florida or Michael Brown in Missouri, Obama stokes the flames of racial unrest every chance he gets.

“Mr. President, you’ve done nothing but tell us we deserve it. You’ve done nothing but look back in the rearview mirror,” Judge Jeanine said.

“But when I look at Dallas, all I saw were whites and blacks running away from anarchy. All I saw were whites and blacks picking each other up. That’s the America I see. And no one is going to change my mind. And no one – not even you, Mr. President – is going to do that.” http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/07/10/judge-jeanine-pirro-dallas-shooting-reflection-racial-divide-created-obama

Judge Jeanine Pirro said:

The shooting in Dallas was not just about racism. Make no mistake, that dirt bag shooter who will remain nameless in this open, was a racist. An African-American, he wanted to kill only white people, especially white officers.

And the shooting in Dallas wasn’t just about police brutality. I got news for you, folks: Police brutality is color blind. It crosses all racial and ethnic lines. I know – I’ve prosecuted them.

It wasn’t just about someone mentally ill. I’ve always found that stigma too easy an excuse for evil.

And it wasn’t just about guns, either.

Dallas was about anarchy. It was about lawlessness. It was about the rhetoric that too easily inflames those who feel wronged, rhetoric that does nothing but repeatedly stoke the flames and scars of old wounds resolved long ago.

At a time when Americans were both experiencing and fearing the reality of a Muslim jihad against us, our president – at a prayer breakfast, no less – attempts to reconcile or explain murders in the name of Allah with this.

And after the shooting of 12 police officers, he seeks to again remind us not of the situation at hand the shooting of 14 people but instead talks of the deaths of two African-Americans, a follow-up that seems like another “get off your high horse.”

Every chance he gets, he stokes the flames. Example: Trayvon Martin, followed by a not guilty verdict. And Ferguson’s Michael Brown, a thug who tried to grab a cop’s gun and got himself shot. There wasn’t an indictment and not even federal charges against the police officer.

Ferguson was about anarchy, and anyone with a functioning brain would have to assume for Michael Brown grab a cop’s gun suggests it wasn’t his first encounter with the law. Who told Brown that he and not the law should be in control? And yet the Department of Justice the attorney general and high end government officials rush to Ferguson, to his funeral as well.

And Baltimore – another training ground for anarchists. A perceived wrong, the response based on rhetoric of racial injustice and hate should be a violent protest? The burning of businesses, many owned by African Americans? A DA who outrageously runs to a microphone and announces an indictment of six cops saying she hears the calls of a lawless mob. And again all the police painted as racists, yet no convictions. And it was an African-American judge who made the calls.

And in New York the chant: “What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want them? Now.” And then two cops innocently eating lunch in their squad car assassinated not long after.

We have leaders who vehemently support the First Amendment language and protests that call for the deaths of those who wear the badge, but then caution us to not say something that would offend another’s religion.

And our president – upon hearing of the assassination of five police officers, all white, and the shooting of seven other officers – wants to talk about a white kid walking into a black church shooting. Why, Mr. President, are you even bringing this up? It’s the same thing you did at the prayer breakfast. After an American has his head cut off, you want to talk about the crusades, as if, “It’s your turn.” Mr. President, you’ve done nothing but tell us we deserve it. You’ve done nothing but look back in the rearview mirror.

But when I look at Dallas, all I saw were whites and blacks running away from anarchy. All I saw were whites and blacks picking each other up. http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/07/10/judge-jeanine-pirro-dallas-shooting-reflection-racial-divide-created-obama

Although many had high hopes that racial tensions would lesson because of the 2008 election of Barack Obama as US President, that has not seemed to be the case.

As the USA moves further away from biblically-related morality and justice, increased violence is expected.

Violence, itself, often begets violence.

The Bible teaches:

9 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Enough, O princes of Israel! Remove violence and plundering, execute justice and righteousness (Ezekiel 45:9)

9…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:9-10)

Expect to see more violence and civil unrest in the USA.

As far as violence goes, the Bible shows that God is against violence and that destruction will come because of it:

23 ‘Make a chain,
For the land is filled with crimes of blood,
And the city is full of violence.
24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,
And they will possess their houses;
I will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,
And their holy places shall be defiled. (Ezekiel 7:23-24)

22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality…30…violent, proud, boasters,…31…unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:22-32)

8…And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. ( Habakkuk 2:8)

Notice the violence is prophesied to result in the worst of the Gentiles to come and take possession of houses–this will happen to the USA during the Great Tribulation (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).

Even now, it can be said of various cities in the USA, “the city is full of violence.” And it will get worse.
