The Somalia-based terrorist group al-Shabaab/al-Shabab has killed again in Kenya:

April 4, 2015

Kenyans were in mourning… following the 16-hour siege at Garissa University College near Somalia involving terrorists from al-Shabaab that claimed nearly 150 lives in an attack that singled out Christian students.

At least 147 students were butchered April 2 when the Somalia Islamist group, linked to al-Qaeda, attacked the Kenyan university, the deadliest attack in the East African country since bombings on the U.S. embassy in 1998.

The World Council of Churches strongly condemned the attack on April 4.

“The World Council of Churches calls for the Kenyan authorities and the international community to ensure criminal accountability for those who conceived this unconscionable act, and to prevent future attacks, especially those intended to provoke inter-religious confrontation and conflict,” said Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the WCC. http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/kenyans-mourn-after-somali-terror-group-singles-out-christian-students-in-slaying-29017#ixzz3WKQCCLTq

The assault began when assailants stormed the university gate at dawn, killing two guards and proceeding to the residence halls. After battling Kenyan Defense Forces for nearly 16 hours, all the gunmen were dead, adding to a death toll that is now more than twice the number slaughtered in the 2013 siege on Nairobi’s Westgate Mall, which was also blamed on the al-Qaida linked militants.

On Friday, the same security forces that battled the militants maintained a heavy presence in Garissa, a dusty frontier town whose residents have long called for better security after a spate of small-scale gun and grenade attacks in recent years.

Harrison Ombore, a teacher at a Garissa school, says security forces here even ignored recent government warnings of an impending attack.

“Yes, there was a warning that terror would take place after some three days, and it’s like the security agencies did not take it seriously,” he said. “Until what happened yesterday, they’re reacting after things have gone wrong.”

Some survivors say the gunmen tried to single out Christian students while sparing Muslims, but others say the assailants were anything but precise in their killing. http://www.voanews.com/content/garissa-survivors-recall-devastating-university-attack/2705747.html

So, the intent was single out and kill non-Muslims.
All people, Muslim, Hindu, Greco-Roman, Buddhist, and Christian should condemn these terrible attacks.

While I was in Nairobi, Kenya last March/April, al-Shabaab committed a terrorist act there and several were killed. From a Church of God perspective, al-Shabaab creates difficulties in Kenya as it has heightened security and safety concerns in Kenya. While I am not aware that the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) had any members directly affected by this latest killing, we do have hundreds of members in Kenya, as well as members in neighboring Tanzania (see CCOG congregations in Kenya).

The problems caused by al-Shabaab were factors in interfering with the travel of CCOG members into Kenya for the Feast of Tabernacles in October of last year. Because of that, most from Tanzania had to stay in that country and a last minute Feast site over there had to be arranged.  For 2015, we have taken this into account and plan to have a separate site in Tanzania (see also Feast of Tabernacles’ Sites for 2015).

As far as terrorism goes, it is horrible. Terrorism is wrong.

Some of what groups like al Shabab and al Qaeda want (a united confederation of many currently Islamic nations) will come to pass per Daniel 11:40-43 and Ezekiel 30:2-8, but this will not end up well for those who support this according to those same passages of scripture.

Perhaps it should also be mentioned that the Bible shows that persecution from the Greco-Romans against faithful Christians will also happen during the soon coming time of tribulation (see Persecutions by Church and State).
