Key Central Asian highway expands on trade route from China towards Europe

A major highway in Central Asia is being expanded to improve freight transport along a trade corridor connecting China with markets further west, including Europe.
In Karakalpakstan, an autonomous republic in northwestern Uzbekistan, a 25-kilometre section of the A380 on the road connecting the cities of Nukus and Urgench is being widened from two to four lanes. Construction is about 90% complete, with the work expected to finish by the end of 2026.
Further northwest, a separate 240-kilometre stretch of the same highway, running from Kungrad towards the Kazakhstan border, was completed in 2024. Transport operators say the upgrade has significantly reduced journey times and vehicle maintenance costs. …
The ongoing 25-kilometre reconstruction project, valued at $48.7mn (€43.6mn), is part of the wider programme supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). …
“Previously, around 6,000 to 7,000 vehicles used this road daily. Once reconstruction is completed, this figure is expected to rise to 14,000 to 15,000,” Boltaboyev told Euronews.
A $383mn (€343mn) investment in regional transport
The wider road improvement programme has a budget of $383.4mn (€343mn), including $274.2mn (€245mn) in loans from the Asian Development Bank and a $109.2mn (€97.7mn) contribution from the Uzbek government.

So, the plan is to connect Central Asia through to South Asia.
The Chinese, through its Belt & Road Initiative (BRI), have been supporting infrastructure connecting South Asia to itself as well as other parts of Central Asia.
The European Union, through its Global Gateway project, has been supporting infrastructure to connect parts of Asia to itself, including places like Armenia (see EU to invest billions in Armenia as part of its Global Gateway project, after recently announcing deals with Bangladesh and Ethiopia).
The EU is busily making trade deals around the world. An unintended consequence of the Trump Administration has been to motivate the EU to make and/or finalize trade deals that it has been dragging its feet to make.
Furthermore, between China’s connectivity projects, what we are seeing in Central Asia, and the EU’s Global Gateway project, this is setting the stage for Europe to increase trade in many parts of the world.
The EU Global Gateway project is ambitious. It is intended to help ensure, that it, and not China or the USA will gain dominance throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia–and also Latin America.
Furthermore, unlike the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (aka the Silk Road project), the European one also involves infrastructure around data and communications technology.
The Bible shows that economically as the “daughter of Babylon” Europe will rise up in this century–(cf. Revelation chapters 17 & 18)–and this Global Gateway project is a step in that direction.
Since the Bible teaches that it will be Europe that will dominate world trade, the BRI and Europe’s Global Gateway look to be ways that Europe will get access to markets in Asia and Africa. Roads work both ways. Furthermore, Europe has a long history of trading with Asia and Latin America and is biblically prophesied to continue to do so.
Consider that the Bible teaches the following about an end time European power:
2 … Babylon … 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury. (Revelation 18:2,3)
The above is referring to the fact that nations of the world are prophesied to get wealthy trading with end time Babylon, which will be a European entity.
But also, these projects will make it easier for a 200,000,000 man army to gather at Armageddon.

Scripture tells of the fulfillment of the times of the Gentiles:
24 … Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:24)
2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. (Revelation 11:2)
More Gentile-dominated groups and projects are appearing to get the world to move away from an Anglo-American dominated world order (watch The Times of the Gentiles and End of the Anglo-American Order). Basically, part of the objective of the BRICS, EAEU, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and even the European Union is to establish a new world order (SCO, EAEU, and BRICS defining a ‘new world order’?)–an order no longer dominated by the USA and its Anglo-Saxon allies, like the UK. …
Gentile moves are happening.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” 16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:13-16).
12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. (Revelation 16:12)
With its One Belt, One Road (AKA Silk Road) project, China is working on making roads that will transport troops to Armageddon (watch Is China paving roads to Armageddon?). China has over 60 nations involved and, on an inflation-adjusted basis, is expected to pour ten times the amount of money into this than the USA did for its Marshall Plan, which mainly helped 6 European nations. This will aid in trade and help provide roads for Armageddon.
Roads, literal and sea-related, that will assist troops getting to Megiddo are in the process of being planned and made.
That being said, the gathering of Armageddon will not happen in 2026, but some events to make that gathering happen will. More on this can be found in the articles Asia in Prophecy and Armageddon.
It has long been my view that these infrastructure projects will result in putting infrastructure in place that some will use related to the prophesied gathering at Armageddon (e.g. watch Is China paving roads to Armageddon?).
The ‘kings of the east’ are to come across the Euphrates river, which will at least partially dry up according to prophecy. The modern “Silk Road” is expected to head near the river Euphrates. And while I have not seen anything that shows that the Belt and Road Initiative is specifically planned to go all the way to Tel Megiddo (Armageddon), there are a couple of highways in the area of Armageddon already that I have personally seen. So, it would seem that the proposed Silk Road project will help build a major road from the far east through central Asia and into the Middle East that can be used to at least get close to Armageddon, and then there are other roads that connect to it.
Russia, North Korea, Japan, and China are clearly among the “kings of the east.” You really cannot get “east” of Russia and its ‘east-ness’ extends all the way into ‘the west.’
According to two sources I checked with China’s Chairman Mao (or others in his Administration) allegedly boasted in the 1960s of an army of two hundred million men, and according to one source, referenced that prophecy in Revelation.
Notice something about this army from the late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong:
The second WOE, with its symbols of horses and horsemen … is also referred to as an event in the DAY OF THE ETERNAL in Joel 2:4. This refers to a tremendous military power … They come with an army of two hundred million! Think of it — an army of two hundred million! World events are now moving rapidly to make possible the creation of a … Eurasian army of that unbelievable manpower! (Armstrong HW. The Book of Revelation Unveiled at Last! 1972)
The “kings of the east” will have to travel for this to happen. And we are seeing infrastructure projects that will help allow for the gathering at Armageddon.
Changes in the world order are taking place.

EU’s Global Gateway, Trade, and War?
The European Union announced that it planned to spend €300 billion ($340 billion) in a program called ‘Global Gateway.’ According to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen it is a “true alternative” to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, also known as the Silk Road Project. Both the EU and Chinese projects will improve road, ports, and/or other infrastructure to connect with Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Will this result in increased trade for Europe and Asia during the time of the Gentiles? Will Babylonian Europe dominate trade for a time? Will devastating war hit Europe with Russian and Eurasian involvement? Would infrastructure these projects are involved in be used for war? What about preparation for Armageddon? Dr. Thiel address these issues and cites biblical prophecies related to these matters.

China is working on something known as the ‘Silk Road’ project or the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. NBC reports that China intends to spend one trillion dollars to build roads, bridges, railroads, and maritime facilities to reach from China to Europe and China to the Middle East. Over 60 nations, including Russia, are involved with this. Could this Silk Road project possibly produce thoroughfares that could be used by troops that will amass at Armageddon?
