Republican candidates for US president upset with debate questions

Republican party 2016 US presidential candidates had another official debate on television last night.

Several of the candidates felt that the questions were often inappropriate or unfair.

October 29, 2015

The debate was feisty from the start with Ohio Governor John Kasich challenging political outsiders Donald Trump and Ben Carson for putting forward what he called “fantasy” proposals.

“Folks, we have got to wake up. We cannot elect somebody that does not know how to do the job. You have to pick somebody who has experience, somebody that has the know-how, the discipline,” Kasich said.

That brought a swift counterattack from Trump.

“He was so nice. He said, ‘Oh, I’m never going to attack.’ But then his poll numbers tanked and that is why he is on the end and he got nasty. He got nasty! So you know what, you can have him,” Trump said.  …

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee declined an invitation to disparage Trump.

“When you look at him, do you see someone with the moral authority to unite the country?” asked moderator John Harwood.

“I love Donald Trump. He is a good man. I’m wearing a Trump tie tonight.  Get over that one, OK?” Huckabee said.

“Such a nasty question, but thank you, governor,” Trump added.

The candidates battled at times over their tax plans, government programs for retirees, job creation and the size of government.

But Senator Ted Cruz of Texas aimed his criticism at the questioners.

“This is not a cage match. And you look at the questions: Donald Trump, are you a comic book villain? … How about talking about the substantive issues people care about?” Cruz asked.  http://www.voanews.com/content/republican-clash-over-economy-each-other-in-debate/3027645.html

Biggest applause of the night

Christie ripped into moderators for asking whether government should regulate fantasy football sites such as DraftKings and FanDuel.

“We have a government involved in fantasy football?!” Christie asked incredulously.

His question came only moments after Bush provided a long description of how he would regulate the websites.

Christie blasted the CNBC moderators: “Wait a second. We have $19 trillion in debt. We have people out of work. We have ISIS and al-Qaida attacking us, and we’re talking about fantasy football?!”

The crowd roared with enthusiastic applause, wild cheers and whistles.

“How about we get the government to do what they’re supposed to be doing – secure our borders, protect our people and support American values and American families?” Christie asked. “Enough on fantasy football. Let people play! Who cares?!”

CNBC takes swipes at Trump and Cruz

A CNBC moderator took a stab at Trump, asking if he was running a “comic book version of a presidential campaign.

Trump replied, “No, not a comic book, and it’s not a very nicely asked question the way you say that.” He clarified some of his positions on bringing jobs back to the U.S. and building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Then, later in the debate, Quintanilla turned to Cruz and asked: “Senator Cruz, congressional Republicans, Democrats and the White House are about to strike a compromise that would raise the debt limit, prevent a government shutdown and calm financial markets that fear of another Washington-created crisis is on the way. Does your opposition to it show that you’re not the kind of problem solver American voters want?”

Cruz launched into the moderators about their debate questions.

“You know, let me say something at the outset. The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don’t trust the media.”

The crowd applauded.

Cruz added, “This is not a cage match. And, you look at the questions: ‘Donald Trump, are you a comic-book villain?’ ‘Ben Carson, can you do math?’ ‘John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?’ ‘Marco Rubio, why don’t you resign?’ ‘Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?’

“How about talking about the substantive issues the people care about?!”

Cruz added, “Contrast with the Democratic debate, where every fawning question from the media was, ‘Which of you is more handsome and why?'”

The crowd laughed with amusement.

“Let me be clear. The men and women on this stage have more ideas, more experience, more common sense than every participant in the Democratic debate,” Cruz said. “That debate reflected a debate between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. And nobody watching at home believed that any of the moderators had any intention of voting in a Republican primary. The questions that are being asked shouldn’t be trying to get people to tear into each other. It should be what are your substantive positions.” http://www.wnd.com/2015/10/its-on-trump-vs-carson-in-gop-showdown/#woWbU2RUBP4DMVp0.99

In my view, there was no question that in each of the three debates, the questions posed to the Republican candidates were nastier than than the ones posed to the Democratic candidates in their one official debate.  This hurts the electoral process and does not bode well for the USA.

That being said, I am not a Republican nor will I endorse any candidate for the presidency of the USA.  It is not that some candidates are not necessarily better than others, but none are the solution to the problems in the USA.

The following caught my eye a few days ago:

October 25, 2015

Americans are deeply divided on abortion, marriage, presidential candidates, school-board practices, spending, taxation, foreign policy, the military, homosexuality, guns and ammunition, Russia, Cuba, Guantanamo Bay, Benghazi, Trump, Hillary, Uber, Netanyahu, migrants, Islam, Syria, marijuana, privacy rights, wealth and even thanking God.

In fact, since the advent of the Barack Obama presidency, there’s little on which most Americans agree.

Except one thing: The nation is going the WRONG direction.

That’s according to a new WND/Clout poll by Clout Research, a national opinion research firm based in Columbus, Ohio.

Its telephone survey Oct. 15-19 found 85.3 percent of likely voters believe the U.S. is in bad shape.

That belief is held by 51.9 percent of Democrats, 83.9 percent of independents and 87.4 percent of Republicans. http://www.wnd.com/2015/10/nearly-everyone-agrees-u-s-going-in-wrong-direction/#bPKwBv2DXVyIGJld.99

There is no question in my mind, that morally, the USA is going in the wrong direction.  A direction that is leading to its destruction according to Bible prophecy (e,g, Habakkuk 2:6-8).

All that being said and reported, the biblical reality is that the USA needs national repentance, otherwise it is doomed. The USA needs the return of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God, which is not anything that any Republican nor Democratic candidate has clearly promoted as the solution.

It is not that some of the policies some candidates advocate cannot help, but without national repentance they will not be enough to stop the destruction that will come to the USA according to biblical prophecies (such as those found in Habakkuk 2:6-8, 2 Peter 2:6, and Daniel 11:39).
