Spain still dealing with thousands of migrants from Morocco that ‘invaded’ Ceuta

Starting last Thursday, tens of thousands of mainly Islamic Moroccan men descended upon a portion of Spain that is on the African continent known as Ceuta.

Spain’s Ceuta overwhelmed as thousands remain after migrant border rush

August 3, 2026

CEUTA, Spain, Aug 3 (Reuters) – Hundreds of migrants set up camp on a beach in Spain’s North African ​enclave of Ceuta on Monday as local authorities struggled to cope with the thousands still in the tiny territory after a massive border rush ‌last week.

Spain estimates that about 69,500 migrants have returned to Morocco over the past four days, exceeding initial estimates of around 50,000 arrivals in Ceuta on Thursday. The official death toll on the Spanish side of the border stands at 72, with 11 deaths on the Moroccan side.

Many said they left as shop closures had left them without food, they encountered hostility from locals ​and they were unable to travel on to the Spanish mainland.

There are only about 84,000 Spaniards in Ceuta, so it could be that more males crossed into Ceuta than were actually there before.

The EU and Spain have not been pleased with this.

The U.S. State Department even posted on social media blaming the crisis on Sánchez’s migration-friendly policies. …

In Spain, Sánchez’s political opponents also seized on the opportunity.

The far-right VOX party, which has increased its presence in the Spanish parliament in recent years on an anti-immigration platform, reacted to the incident by calling for the militarization of the border, and the immediate deportation of all migrants who crossed, including minors. The center-right opposition party Partido Popular also called on the government to declare a national emergency, close the borders, and mobilize the army.

The developments come at a challenging time for Sánchez,  … Spaniards even joke about his capacity to handle one crisis after another: “the only thing left is an alien invasion.” …

Most migrants were Moroccan, and critics allege Moroccan law enforcement were absent — even complicit — from the Moroccan side of the border at the most critical hours on Thursday, when thousands of migrants were freely crossing the border by foot, some of them women and kids, in what appeared to be a coordinated flow of people. …

One possible factor for the influx is a recent Spanish Supreme Court ruling that eased deportation rules for migrants entering Ceuta or Melilla. The July 8 ruling prevents law enforcement from being able to deport migrants who swim into the territories, reversing a practice of deporting them on the spot without a legal process.

Some of the migrants who crossed said they read messages circulating on social media and messaging platforms about the ease of crossing the border in Ceuta, and expected to be welcomed and taken to the Spanish mainland. …

Spain, unlike what happened in Germany and many other parts of Europe, had been perhaps the most tolerant of migrants.

This event has likely changed public sentiment in Spain.

Eventually, Europe will reach a breaking point and change.

The Bible shows that Europe will reorganize and a strong leader will emerge:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13, NKJV)

The final European Beast leader, who is also known as the final King of the North, will ultimately promote his religion (Daniel 11:36-38; which will not be Islam, he will at first feign and claim a form of Roman Catholicism). He will make a deceptive deal with the leader of a confederation of peoples in North Africa and the Middle East (cf. Daniel 11:27; Psalm 83:3-8). The confederation will include Syria and Turkey, but Turkey will eventually back out of it and then support the European beast (for details, see Turkey in Prophecy).

This leader will be militaristic and be given power by Satan the dragon for 3 1/2 years:

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. (Revelation 13:1-5)

Islamic issues will be a factor in the rise of this Beast leader–the Bible shows that a European Beast leader will, after destroying the USA (Daniel 11:39), push against and overwhelm a power from the Middle East and North Africa (Daniel 11:40-43).

It should be noted that this Beast leader is NOT Russian (see also Is Russia the King of the North?). Despite claims from Protestant Joel Richardson, this Beast leader is NOT Islamic (see also Is There an Islamic Antichrist?).

What kind of a dance?

One that will impact Muslims (as well as another type that will overpower the UK, cf. Daniel 8:24-25; Isaiah 17:3).

There are many Greco-Roman Catholic private prophecies telling of a time of civil war in Europe–and pushing out Islam. Notice that the first one considers civil war is a major sign of end time events:

Pope John Paul II (March 1993), as reported by Monsignor Mauro Longhi on October 22, 2017: ‘Tell this to those whom you will meet in the Church of the third millennium. I see the Church afflicted by a deadly scourge. Deeper, more painful and more deadly than those of this millennium’, referring to … communism and Nazi totalitarianism. ‘It’s called islamism. They will invade Europe. I saw the hordes coming from the West to the East’, and he described to me the countries one by one: from Morocco to Libya to Egypt, and so on to the eastern parts. Monk Hilarion (d. 1476): The people of the Peninsula of Europe will suffer by unnecessary wars until the Holy Man comes … That Lion will come from a high mountain in the enlightened nation. The southern Slavs will form a great Catholic Empire and drive out of Europe the Turks (Mohammedans), who will withdraw to North Africa and subsequently embrace the Catholic faith. (Dupont, p.76)

Notice that the ‘great prince of the North’ is expected to subdue an Islamic Empire. Notice that the Bible teaches that the ‘king of the North‘ will go into the Middle East and North Africa and eliminate the leader called the ‘king of the South.’ The lands of the ‘king of the South’ are currently Islamic. Perhaps it should be mentioned that Syria is expected to support the confederation of the king of the South (see also Ezekiel 30:2-8), though the time will come that its capital will be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1).

As I have written in the past, European nations will decide that they must take stronger steps against the growing number of Islamic immigrants (see also War is Coming Between Europeans and Arabs).

It appears that migrant issues will be one of the triggers to get Europe to ultimately reorganize as the Bible teaches it will in Revelation 17:12-13, Daniel 11:21-38, Daniel 2:41-43, and other passages.

Will Islam be Pushed Out of Europe?

Heinz-Christian Strache (later Vice Chancellor of Austria) has declared that Islam has no place in Europe. Did Germany’s Angela Merkel call multiculturalism a failure? Will there be deals between the Muslims and the Europeans? Will a European Beast leader rise up after a reorganization that will eliminate nationalism? Will Europe push out Islam?
