The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that more data centers are going to Europe in response to reports of espionage by the USA leaked by Edward Snowden:

PARIS—U.S. businesses are building more computing data centers in the European Union ahead of new data-protection rules, an E.U. official said Monday, citing new data.

“We already see a substantial increase of foreign-direct investment in digital technologies in storage centers, data centers, processing,” said Paul Nemitz, a director in the European Commission’s Justice Unit, speaking at a data-protection forum organized by France’s data-protection watchdog. …

The push for data centers on European soil provides a glimpse at how global tech companies are adapting to the commercial and legal fallout from revelations of widespread U.S. government surveillance.

The companies say their plans stem from the need for more capacity as Internet users consume growing amounts data—not geopolitics. Some technology lawyers in Europe say that both factors are at play, however.

“This is proof to us that, in anticipation of Europe becoming a trust center for data, big global corporations, in particular from the United states, are investing in Europe,” Mr. Nemitz said.

Any data showing that U.S. companies are stepping up the construction of data centers in Europe emphasizes how much the technology landscape has shifted in the year and a half since former U.S. National Security Agency Edward Snowden leaked information about large scale data collection via U.S. companies and data based in the U.S. …

PARIS (Reuters) – The U.S. National Security Agency’s mass surveillance is a trade barrier for European Internet companies trying to provide services in the United States, a top EU official said on Monday.

U.S. citizens are deterred from using European e-mail providers because they do not get the same protection as they would by using U.S. providers, said Paul Nemitz, a director in the European Commission’s justice department.

The government of the United States simply does not believe that anyone has privacy rights on the Internet.

Europe now looks to be the best choice for many. The Europeans are hoping that the USA will decide to relax some rules so even more will end up in Europe.  Because of the Snowden leaks and other matters, the USA may well exempt Europe from some of its surveillance.

Since the final 666 of biblical prophecy is European, this data center development is consistent with what could be expected.

The European Union has drawn up a wish list of almost 2,000 projects worth 1.3 trillion euros ($1.59 trillion) for possible inclusion in an investment plan to revive growth and jobs without adding to countries’ debts.

While the EU may or may not spend all of that, the reality is that Europe is looking at making investments that will create jobs and increase European technological prowess.

The upcoming Beast power will, relatively soon, have what it needs to fulfill various prophecies such as the following:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18, NKJV)

23 ‘And in the latter end of their kingdom, about the perfecting of the transgressors, stand up doth a king, fierce of face, and understanding hidden things; (Daniel 8:23, Young’s Literal Translation)

It would seem to take computers, data centers, and other technology to aid in the fulfillment of the above scriptures, as well as various forms cyber-spying/monitoring.

This cyber-spying is something that the U.S.A. has been engaged in for time.  Now, that technology is being shared with the Europeans–by both the USA government and certain private companies.  Europe does wish to be the world’s leader in all kinds of technologies.
