Turkish police move against protesters

Turkey has been having problems and they seem to have escalated:

December 27, 2013

Turkish riot police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse anti-government protesters from central Istanbul Friday.

Protesters gathered in several Turkish cities, including the capital Ankara, to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose government has been linked to illicit money transfers. Some protesters in Istanbul were arrested.

Thousands of supporters of the embattled prime minister also took to the streets.

More than 20 people, including high-ranking state officials and their relatives, have been arrested on corruption charges. The scandal has forced Mr. Erdogan to reshuffle his government.

A Turkish court on Friday blocked the government’s move to change the rules on launching a corruption investigation.

Prime Minister Erdogan said the probe is part of a conspiracy to bring down his government.  http://www.voanews.com/content/turkish-police-use-gas-water-cannon-to-disperse-protesters/1819013.html

Turkey’s Prime Minister Erdogan is much too Islamic for many Turks, and not Islamic enough for others.

The time will be coming however, when there will be an alliance involving Arab, Turkish, and European nations which will make a destructive deal:

3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” 5 For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You: 6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagrites; 7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; 8 Assyria also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot. (Psalms 83:3-8)

Notice that the Bible indicates that the Turks (who are not Arabs, but seem to be Edom in scripture) will make a deal with the rising European power (Assyria above), along with the Arabs and Turkey (Psalm 83).

The Bible also shows that Turkey will, for a time, support the future King of the South:

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. (Daniel 11:40-42)

Since Turkey and the other countries in the above list are currently primarily Islamic, it appears that Turkey will, for a time, turn a bit more Islamic.  Yet, the King of the South will not fully satisfy the Turks–which is probably why it escapes the actions of the King of the North above.

The Turks can be quite pragmatic and will, despite occasional/frequent issues with the EU/Europeans, ultimately provide some support to the final King of the North power.

For now, the government of Prime Minister Erdogan which tends towards Islam and also economic cooperation with the Europeans, seems tense.  But it is likely that someone who may lead Turkey in the future will also tend towards Islam as well as the Europeans as well.  Turkey does have a role to play in prophecy.  And various parts of its role will not be good.
