COGwriter for September 2007

By COGwriter

September 2007  was one of the top two months in terms of unique visitors to the COGwriter website.  This is encouraging.  This is also the first time that the COGwriter website has received updates during the Feast of Tabernacles (it was not that feasible before switching to the WordPress format for this particular page).

The twelve most popular articles for the month appeared to have been:

1. The Day of Atonement–Its Christian Significance The Jews call it Yom Kippur, Christians “The Day of Atonement”. Does it have any relevance for Christians today?

2. Did Early Christians Celebrate Birthdays? Did biblical era Jews celebrate birthdays? Who originally celebrated birthdays? When did many that profess Christ begin birthday celebrations?

3. Concerns About Ronald Weinland’s Church of God-Preparing for the Kingdom of God Ronald Weinland claims to be one of the two witnesses. He has at least one other view that suggests that he is not part of the COG.

4. LCG 2007 Feast of Tabernacles’ Information Here is information on many Feast of Tabernacles locations for this year.

5. The History of Early Christianity Are you aware that what most people believe is not what truly happened to the true Christian church?

6. The Feast of Tabernacles: A Time for Christians? Is this pilgrimage holy day still valid? Does it teach anything relevant for today’s Christians?

7. The Book of Life and the Feast of Trumpets? Are they related? Is so how? If not, where not?

8. Sola Scriptura or Prima Luther? What Did Martin Luther Really Believe About the Bible? Though he is known for his public sola Scriptura teaching, Martin Luther’s writings about the Bible suggest he felt that prima Luther was his ultimate authority.

9. Why Not the Restored Church of God? This group, led by David Pack, claims to be the most faithful. The information in this article suggests otherwise.

10. Church of God, Seventh Day: History and Teachings Nearly all COG’s I am aware of trace their history through this group. Whaid Rose is the president of the largest CG7 group (Denver). Do you know much about them?

11. Some Similarities and Differences Between the Orthodox Church and the Churches of God Both groups have some amazing similarities and some major differences. Do you know what they are?

12. Polycarp of Smyrna Polycarp was the successor of the Apostle John and a major leader in Asia Minor. Do you know much about what he taught?

This is the first time that any Fall Holy Day article was ever number one as far as I can tell.  There seems to be an increased interest in the Holy Days from many this year.
