Various ones have wondered if we have seen the start of WWIII.

A Greek source put out the following :

Is Saint Paisios Prophecy of World War III coming true?

The recent announcement by Turkey for the closure of  the Dardanelles and Bosphorus to warships during the Russia – Ukraine conflict has sparked interest in end-of -world prophecies and in particular those of Greek Orthodox Saint Paisios who lived and died in the 20th century. …

The following prophecy, attributed to Saint Paisios, however is concerned with a ‘Russian-Turkish’ conflict but does reference the closure of the straits:

“After the challenge of the Turks, the Russians will descend to the Straits. Not to help us. They will have other interests. But, without wanting to, they will help us. Then, in order to defend the Straits, which are of strategic importance, the Turks will gather other troops there. At the same time, they will withdraw forces from occupied territories.

But then the other European countries, namely Britain, France, Italy and six or seven other EU countries, will see that Russia will seize parts, so they will say: Perhaps we should go over there too, and get a piece for ourselves. Everyone, however, will chase the lion’s portion. This is how the Europeans will enter the war…The (Greek) government will decide not to send an army into Turkey. No, Turkey’s move this week is not part of World War Three.

The Protestant writer Michael Snyder sees the situation between Russia and Ukraine as the start of WWIII and the countdown for nuclear war:

When Russia invaded Ukraine, it marked the start of World War 3, and it also initiated the countdown to nuclear war.  What we should be rooting for is an end to the shooting in Ukraine and for governments on both sides of the conflict to do all they can to de-escalate the situation.  But instead, each new day brings more escalations.  For example, on Sunday EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced that EU nations would be providing fighter jets directly to the Ukrainian military…

On Sunday, we also learned that Putin has now put his strategic nuclear arsenal on high alert…

Obviously, Putin did this to send a message to the U.S. and other western powers.

But this is a massive escalation as well.

Threatening to use nuclear weapons against somebody else is something that should not be done. …

Short of actually sending forces into Ukraine, western leaders are trying to think of everything that they can do to punish Russia, and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko insists that this is “pushing Russia into a Third World War”…

‘Now there is a lot of talk against the banking sector, gas, oil, SWIFT,’ Lukashenko said. ‘It’s worse than war. This is pushing Russia into a Third World War. We need to be restrained here so as not to get into trouble. Because nuclear war is the end of everything.’

Sadly, Lukashenko is quite correct. …

No, we are not on the road t0 nuclear war with Russia, at least not in the sense that Michael Snyder thinks.

Nor is Russia’s incursion into Ukraine the start of WWIII.

Is it possible that WWIII, which would seem to be the start of the prophesied Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21) has begun or will begin this year?

Before answering that, let’s look at some verses in Matthew’s Gospel account:

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. (Matthew 24:4-15)

Based upon Jesus’ words, there is no possibility that the Great Tribulation can happen in 2022 and those who rely on the Bible have realized this. It is only those who overlook scripture and rely on their own views and/or false traditions who make the mistake of thinking that the Great Tribulation can, or could, happen in 2022.

Why do I state this?

Jesus pointed to Daniel.

Daniel shows that the coming “King of the North” will make a deal of some sort with one called the King of the South just before the appointed time of the end:

27 Both these kings’ hearts shall be bent on evil, and they shall speak lies at the same table; but it shall not prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time (Daniel 11:27).

Thus, one reason that the Great Tribulation will not begin yet is that the one known as the final King of the North in Daniel 11 needs to rise up.

Daniel chapter 11 tells much about the end times and it involves both a King of the South and a King of the North. And while there was a president of the South and a president of the North in the Union for the Mediterranean (see Deal Leading to Psalm 83?), these individuals have not held the type of power (nor prerogatives) of the prophesied King of the North and the King of the South. Nor will the current head of the post-Lisbon European Union, likely be the final King of the North as he does not seem to fit that description.

Since the Great Tribulation will not start before there is an actual King of the South and an actual final King of the North–it is not yet.

Now the Bible shows that a “prince” will apparently confirm a peace deal with Israel:

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.” (Daniel 9:27)

This prince, as Daniel 9:26 and other parts of the Bible show, is European. The one prophetic week is 7 years. Thus, the middle of the week is 3 1/2 years after this deal is confirmed.

The prince that is confirming this will be the King of the North of Daniel 11. And Daniel 11:31, ties in with Daniel 9:27, and hence happens 3 1/2 years after this deal is confirmed.

The Great Tribulation itself does not begin until verse 39 of Daniel 11. Therefore, since this deal of Daniel 9:27 has not yet occurred and been confirmed, the Great Tribulation cannot begin until at least 3 1/2 years from now.

The confirmation of that deal would be the biblical COUNTDOWN until the start of the Great Tribulation and what could be called WWIII.

Can the Great Tribulation start in 2022 or 2023?

Much is happening around the world today. Is the Great Tribulation about to begin? Various ones have pointed to it starting in 2022 or 2023–and stated that they got 2022 from the Holy Spirit. What about centuries old predictions supposedly pointing to 2022 by Nostradamus and Paracelsus? Some Muslims have pointed to Jesus returning in 2022 or 2023. Is that possible? Should you rely on Jonathan Cahn’s views of the ‘Shemitah year’ to understand prophecy? What about the ‘Super Shemitah’ (also known as the Jubliee year)? Are there still signs that Jesus and Daniel pointed to that we need to see first? If so, what do they include? What is the earliest year that the Great Tribulation can begin according to scripture? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues and more.

But make no mistake about it–the end is coming and fairly soon–and probably, sometime in the next ten or so years. But the Great Tribulation will not start in 2022 nor 2023 (if there is a major war in the Middle East that is resolved by the Fall of 2022, then maybe 2026).

Christians, Philadelphian ones, are to understand Jesus said tribulation-related events tie in with Daniel. Yet, most who profess Christ do not fully get it. Anyway, after Daniel 11:31 and the fleeing (Matthew 24:15; Revelation 12:14-17), the Great Tribulation begins:

21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:21-22)

This cannot possibly happen in 2022.

Irrespective of Greek Orthodox or Protestant speculations, I do not believe the Bible allows for the Great Tribulation to start before 2025.

But make no mistake about it–the end is coming and fairly soon–and most probably, sometime in the next ten or so years. But the Great Tribulation and WWIII has not started and will not start this year nor the next

Anyway, if you are willing to believe the Bible, you can understand that the Great Tribulation cannot start for at least 3 1/2 years.
