South Ossetia Highlighted in Purple Above

Germany and France were part of an agreement to get Ukraine and Russian to reduce certain hostilities in eastern Ukraine:

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who hosted a meeting of his counterparts from Russia, Ukraine and France, said the four parties had agreed that the demarcation line defined in the Minsk agreement of September last year should form the basis for the withdrawal. Under the plan, Ukraine and the pro-Russian separatists would pull back their heavy arms 15 kilometres (nine miles) on either side of the line, though there was no agreement on a withdrawal of all troops.

“Finally there was an agreement reached today that the demarcation line, mentioned in the Minsk protocol, will be the line from which the withdrawal of heavy weaponry should start now,” Steinmeier said late on Wednesday after talks in Berlin with his counterparts from France, Russia and Ukraine. …

Separately, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the “strong support” for the pullback was the meeting’s most important result. He said the foreign ministers did not discuss the sanctions that the West has imposed on Russia over the Ukraine crisis, saying: “The sanctions are not our problem, it is the problem of those who introduced them and now do not know how to extricate themselves.”

Earlier this month French President François Hollande said the sanctions should be lifted if progress were made in resolving the crisis.

Lavrov had urged measures to contain the unfolding unrest earlier on Wednesday, but said nothing about the rebels surrendering territory they acquired in violation of the Minsk peace deal. Ukraine says separatist forces that are backed by Russia have overstepped agreed-upon front-line boundaries between the warring sides by 500 square kilometres (190 square miles).

‘Direct support from Russia’

Meanwhile a fresh separatist advance is under way in an area northwest of Luhansk, the second-largest rebel-held city. The fighting is centred on two checkpoints along a strategic highway.

Ukraine’s Defence Ministry said one of those positions, Checkpoint 31, had been abandoned on Tuesday but that operations were underway to retake it.

Ukrainian authorities said an artillery shell has hit a trolley bus in the eastern city of Donetsk, killing at least 13 people and sparking accusations of blame from both Ukraine and Russia.

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk published a statement on the government’s website blaming what he called “Russian terrorists” for the attack in the city that has been at the center of a territory struggle between Ukrainian troops and pro-Russia separatists.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Ukrainian forces were responsible for what he called a provocation and a crime against humanity.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian military authorities say troops have withdrawn from the Donetsk airport after months of struggle to keep control over the transportation link.

Pro-Russian separatists have staged a bitter battle for control as well, as the airport lies on the northern edge of rebel territory.

“Yesterday evening we made the decision to leave the new terminal,” military spokesman Vladyslav Seleznyov said in reference to the main airport building that had been held by Kyiv forces since late May. “We continue to control the southern part of the airport. … We left the new terminal because it looks like a sieve and there’s simply nowhere to hide there.”

‘Land grab’ accusation

On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry accused pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine of violating an earlier truce deal with “a blatant land grab” in new fighting near the Russian border. …

Moscow has repeatedly denied direct involvement in the Ukraine crisis, which erupted into warfare in April 2014 when pro-Russian separatists in the Russian-speaking east launched a rebellion against Kyiv’s rule. Europe is heavily involved with trying to resolve the situation between Russia and Ukraine.  Europe wants Ukraine as part of its European Union, while it also wants to get along with Russia and lift sanctions.  But many simply do not realize how bad Russia wants Ukraine.  Kiev was once the capital of Russia.

Might Russia overtly send troops into Ukraine?  Many consider this a possibility.  Notice the following:

“If Ukraine pushes further and, say, enters Donetsk then President Putin will have to respond, and that’s a dilemma,” argues Dmitry Trenin, head of the Moscow Carnegie Centre.

“If he tries to reverse the situation, that will mean a far greater military involvement, and that could be disaster. It’s not what he wanted,” Mr Trenin argues.

In such a scenario, abandoning the pro-Russian separatists to their fate is not an option for Russia’s president. For months, Moscow has accused a “fascist” government in Kiev of conducting a “punitive” operation – even genocide – against Russian speakers in Donetsk and Luhansk. …

That message is hammered home daily by state-controlled television, which portrays patriotic rebel warriors alongside helpless civilians under attack by indiscriminate Ukrainian artillery. The fact that insurgents frequently fire from residential areas is never mentioned.

Formally, Moscow advocates “special status” for the occupied regions of eastern Ukraine, a pro-Russian enclave within a united Ukraine.

But Russia-watchers have suggested that the real goal is another frozen conflict: an open sore for Moscow to prod and stir when required, and so retain influence over Kiev.

But for Ukraine’s authorities, who have already seen Crimea annexed by their neighbour, territorial integrity and sovereignty are key.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko believes that Ukraine’s possible accession to the European Union will benefit Europe because the future of Europe is inseparably linked with the future of Ukraine.

It does not matter how many difficulties Ukraine may still encounter if Europe stands by Ukraine in its struggle for freedom, dignity, democracy and life without fear, Poroshenko said at the Europe Institute at the University of Zurich, according to the Ukrainian leader’s press service.

In this case, Europe will also have a safer and brighter future, he added.

Poroshenko called on the whole of Europe to unite because, he said, only by acting jointly, democratic nations would succeed in defending freedom for the current and coming generations, who would be able to live without fear and without threats of terrorism and would be able to build a common future.

Despite the views of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, it is possible that Europe could decide that eastern Ukraine is simply not worth the conflict.  And while this would upset Kiev, it may have little choice as it is not a military match to Russia and the USA has said it would not fight Russia over Ukraine.  Perhaps the European Union would accelerate Ukraine’s membership for allowing Russia to takeover some of the east.

Of course, Russia has interest in more territory than simply eastern Ukraine.  It seems to be getting closer to possibly annexing an area that was considered part of the nation of Georgia called South Ossetia:

Don’t tell the West, but Vladimir Putin isn’t changing. The Russian President has skipped their little ‘lesson’ on 21st century politics in favor of his own, unadulterated, version. In what we’ve come to expect, Putin is set to formally absorb South Ossetia – Georgia’s breakaway republic – and Gazprom is prepared to deny Europe up to one-quarter of its annual exports to the continent. What’s more, the conflict continues in Ukraine and allegations of Russian financing are growing louder.  …

What about those sanctions? Well, more may soon be on the way as the Kremlin is preparing to finalize an “alliance and integration” treaty with South Ossetia, which will place the renegade republic under Russia’s umbrella. Specifically, the agreement will begin to integrate the ostensibly Georgian territory with Russia assuming control of the borders, customs enforcement, and internal security. The standard of living in Russia and even the North Caucasus marks an improvement for South Ossetia, but the motive for Russia is less clear. North Ossetia has long been part of Russia. South Ossetia declared independence from Georgia in 1990.  Ultimately this lead to a war.  In the wake of the 2008 South Ossetia War, Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Nauru recognised South Ossetia’s independence.  Georgia never has.  Since Russia already dominates South Ossetia, further Russian moves will probably not cause major diplomatic issues for Russia.

Russia wants the option to influence and/or acquire all the territory of Ukraine. It likely feels that its limited involvement is the least it can do to show support for the separatists that are opposing the Ukrainian government in Kiev. In the past Russia has basically dared Ukraine to attack, which would give it a claimed cause to fight back. The situation remains tense.

Russia’s President Putin basically believes that the West poses a threat to his nation and that if all of Ukraine goes into the European Union (which is what the government of Kiev wants), it will thus militarily align with the West (which is what it is in the process of doing). Russia does not want NATO closer.

Vladimir Putin also wants Georgia and all other lands that were once part of the old Soviet Union.  In 2014, he got Crimea.  In 2015 he may get South Ossetia.  But he still wants more.

Germany and the EU want Ukraine, but does not want a war with Russia.

Many in parts of Ukraine, Georgia, and Russia are descendents from the ancient Medes. Those called Medes are also shown to destroy the final European Babylonian power according to both Isaiah and Jeremiah:

And as for gold, they will not delight in it.

The fact that there are multiple kings of the Medes indicates that multiple powers involved in this end time confederation represent multiple governments. Perhaps, such as Russia, Belarus, Crimea, South Ossetia, and possibly some other parts of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, etc.

Even now, not all in Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia want to be part of the European Union, and some prefer to be in Russia’s new Eurasian Union. Those that become disillusioned/disappointed by the EU may ultimately back out of it.

The latest agreement between Russian, Europe, and Ukraine is not the end of the matter.

Medieval Abortion Drug Being Given

On January 22, 1973 the United States Supreme Court decided to overturn state laws prohibiting abortion in a case known as Roe vs. Wade. The decision was wrong and there are still some who argue against it. Today marks the 42nd anniversary of it.

Political leaders, such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton (to name just two) are big supporters of this horrible decision.  Some politicians are opposed, but they have not tended to be successful in reversing nor highly limiting this.  Notice the following:

Washington — With thousands of anti-abortion protesters in town, Republicans are ready to push legislation through the House designed to please them. But it’s not the bill an embarrassed GOP was hoping for.

Republican leaders had planned House passage Thursday of legislation criminalizing most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, an act that would have defied a White House veto threat. But late Wednesday they abruptly postponed that confrontation indefinitely after concluding they were short of votes.

Instead, the House will vote on legislation barring taxpayer funding of abortions — a prohibition that’s already largely in place.  …

Congressional Democrats who solidly oppose the legislation, along with abortion-rights advocates, all but mocked the GOP’s problem. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., said Republicans suffered “a meltdown.”

The majority of the members of Congress are not opposed to Roe vs. Wade and even minor restrictions on abortion are often thwarted by the courts.

The woman that the pro-abortion forces used to get the decision (Norma L. McCorvey, whose court case was filed under the alias of Jane Roe) that the pro-abortion forces wanted 41 years ago later regretted her decision. So much so that in August 1995, she (Norma L. McCorvey) announced that she had become an advocate of Operation Rescue’s campaign to make abortion illegal.

The Bible condemns those that shed innocent blood, as that is something that God hates:

So you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you when you do what is right in the sight of the LORD (Deuteronomy 21:9).

These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19).

Their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; Wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they have not known, And there is no justice in their ways; They have made themselves crooked paths; Whoever takes that way shall not know peace (Isaiah 59:7-8).

Thus says the LORD: “Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place (Jeremiah 22:3).

“Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, And practicing oppression and violence” (Jeremiah 22:17).

Babies are innocent. Killing them is the shedding of innocent blood.

Notice the following:

My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness (Psalm 119:172).

Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34).

Killing babies through abortion is not righteous. It is a reproach to nations that allow and encourage it.

Those that consent to abortions are often proud, are normally lying to themselves that they are not doing violence to a human being, and often have abortions because of their own lusts and covetousness. Adding the sin of abortion to their other sins is simply not the answer.

They also place themselves in the same category as Judas Iscariot, for he admitted that when he betrayed Jesus Christ, he (Judas) betrayed “innocent blood” (Matthew 27:4). Jesus was betrayed by someone He considered to be a friend–no baby should be betrayed by the mother that is supposed to love them.

Women are struck emotionally for the rest of their lives when they consent to an abortion (the Bible even warns of curses for killing the innocent, Deuteronomy 27:25). That is not a choice they ever should make.

Since States began to “liberalize” or repeal anti-abortion laws, the economic situation in the USA began to change (bolding and italics in source):

Until 1970, the United States had a trade surplus and an inflow of money sometimes called a favorable balance of trade. After 1970, for the first time in a century, the United States was buying more goods abroad than it sold. It moved from a trade surplus to a trade deficit, when imports exceed exports, and money was flowing out of the United States in payments to foreign countries for imports. Since 1970, the unfavorable trade balance and trade deficit has grown…

After World War II until 1970, the United States was a creditor nation lending money to other countries. As a creditor nation, other countries owed more money to the United States than the United States owed to foreign countries.

After 1970, the United States became a net debtor nation. As a debtor nation, the United States owes more money to foreign countiress than the foreign countries owe the United States. The United States is now the largest debtor among all nations. (Howard J. Sherman, E. K. Hunt, Reynold F. Nesiba, Phillip Anthony O’Hara. Economics: An Introduction to Traditional and Progressive Views, 7th edition. M.E. Sharpe, 2008, p. 175)

The European Union is now the world’s biggest exporter and China is second largest. There was no European Union 41 years ago (the alliances that preceded it had a mere fraction of its current output) and China had little impact on international trade then. The situation has changed and a new world order is developing.

Furthermore, it may be of interest to note that since movement in the USA towards the Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973, not only have 57,000,000 or so babies been aborted/murdered, the USA has basically gone from being the world’s largest creditor nation to the world’s largest debtor nation–without national repentance the USA will be destroyed.  The USA is officially in debt to the tune of over $18 trillion and it is much more than that if other items are included.

According to the Bible, debt is a curse of disobeying God:

43 “The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 “Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you. (Deuteronomy 28:43-46)

The destruction of the USA is coming and abortion in one of the many reasons (see also Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel). A new world order has began to develop, and once it fully does, the USA will no longer be on top.

Notice what has happened to the economy of the United States in the last 40 or so years:

In real terms, as mentioned above, US growth in the 21st century seems to have fallen back to medieval levels. Why?…Because the economy failed to produce real growth. Coincidence or curse? Since the USA is also the most indebted nation in the history of humankind that does not bode well for the USA (Habakkuk 2). And that debt continues to increase.

His U.S. Supreme Court appointees are believed to be supporters of on-demand abortion…

By encouraging and not discouraging aspects of immorality (such as abortion and homosexual unions), Barack Obama is setting the U.S.A. up for punishment (Isaiah 30:12-13; Romans 1:18-32)…

Notice two public statements from Barack Obama:

Beyoncé could not be a better role model for my girls.

{Abortion} I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right.

Beyoncé is a female American singer who often seems to violate standards of modesty (cf. 1 Timothy 2:9). Abortion is murder, and abortion is wrong. Promoting and/or approving biblically-condemned actions is dangerous and puts the U.S.A. at increasing risk God’s judgment (Romans 1:32).

Abortion is wrong. And promoting or simply approving sexual immorality is wrong (cf. Romans 1:18-32).

There are terrible consequences for sin, and instead of properly discouraging sexual immorality, abortion increases the tendency towards sin. This does not bode well for the United States.

While Europe, China, and certain other areas also have abortion and other issues, the reality is that the Bible shows that, for a time, they will do much better than the USA. So much so, because the time is coming when the USA will be no more.

The Islamic group Boko Haram admits to a mass slaughter:

January 21, 2015

Nigerian militant group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for mass killings in the city of Baga and is promising further attacks.

A video posted online Wednesday shows the Islamist group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, declaring “We carried out the Baga massacre, and we are going to do more.”

Fighters are seen showing off what appear to be thousands of rifles, along with grenades, rocket launchers, machine guns and stacked boxes of ammunition.

Shekau says the arms were captured from Baga, where the group seized a military base from Nigerian soldiers on January 3, then proceeded to burn down thousands of homes. Estimates of the death toll in Baga range from 150 to 2,000.

Shekau warns that “more deaths are coming,” and also issues threats against the presidents of Cameroon and Chad.

Last week, Chad sent thousands of troops into Cameroon to help that country fight Boko Haram fighters who have attacked villages in Cameroon’s far north. Cameroon’s government said Wednesday that troops have rescued a German citizen who Boko Haram kidnapped last July.  …

In addition to watching part of Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech, this morning I also read over the transcript of it.  Here is some of what it said per CNN:

We are fifteen years into this new century. Fifteen years that dawned with terror touching our shores; that unfolded with a new generation fighting two long and costly wars; that saw a vicious recession spread across our nation and the world. It has been, and still is, a hard time for many.

But tonight, we turn the page.

Tonight, after a breakthrough year for America, our economy is growing and creating jobs at the fastest pace since 1999. Our unemployment rate is now lower than it was before the financial crisis. http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/20/politics/state-of-the-union-2015-transcript-full-text/

Barack Obama called 2014 a breakthrough year before (see Obama says 2014 was a ‘breakthrough year’) and claimed major economic gains in 2014 (see Obama says economy strongest its been since 2009 and lays out his priorities).  Sadly, 2014 ended up as a breakthrough year for the homosexual marriage agenda and the marijuana industry.  As far as economic breakthroughs go, the admitted federal debt of the USA broke past $18 trillion.  As far as employment and unemployment go, I saw a commentator mention on the news last night that the real unemployment rate is 50% higher than the official rate and that many of the employed are making less than they used to.

It is not that everything is bad economically, but the picture Barack Obama attempted to paint seems to overlook facts and debt.  As far as “debt,” he only mentioned student debt in the State of the Union speech.  But Barack Obama did say the following:

The shadow of crisis has passed, and the State of the Union is strong.

At this moment — with a growing economy, shrinking deficits, bustling industry, and booming energy production — we have risen from recession freer to write our own future than any other nation on Earth.

The annual deficit has shrank, but this is because the last year of George Bush’s presidency it went up and Barack Obama endorsed that.  Then Barack Obama himself proposed record deficits for the next year.  The total debt has risen substantially every year of the Obama presidency.  Total debt has gone up and this puts the USA in a more dangerous position than any comparable nation on earth.  No nation in the history of humanity has been in as much debt as the USA.

The Bible warns that this is dangerous and will lead to destruction.  Here is what the NASB shows:

2 Then the LORD answered me and said,

“Record the vision
And inscribe it on tablets,
That the one who reads it may run.       

3“For the vision is yet for the appointed time;
It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
For it will certainly come, it will not delay.

4“Behold, as for the proud one,
His soul is not right within him;…

6“Will not all of these take up a taunt-song against him,
Even mockery and insinuations against him
And say, ‘Woe to him who increases what is not his—
For how long—
And makes himself rich with loans?’

7 “Will not your creditors rise up suddenly,
And those who collect from you awaken?
Indeed, you will become plunder for them.

8 “Because you have looted many nations,
All the remainder of the peoples will loot you—
Because of human bloodshed and violence done to the land,
To the town and all its inhabitants.

(Habakkuk 2:2-4a, 6-8, New American Standard Bible).

The Book of Habakkuk is warning that in the appointed time of the end (verse 3), the power that accumulates a lot of debt (called ‘loans’ in verse 6) will face the wrath of creditors (verse 7) and be looted (verse 8).  It also warns that those who read this should one day run (verse 2) because of how serious this will be.  The Bible does not teach that becoming highly indebted makes a nation strong.

The economy of the USA is considered strong for several reasons, including its size and diversity.  But another is because a better alternative is not yet obvious to much of the world.  Shortly after that happens, we will see the fulfillment of prophecies such as Habakkuk 2.

Last year, I made a short YouTube titled Barack Obama and the State of the Apocalypse. What I said then is still applicable, and I decided some may wish to see it this year.

In his 2015 speech, Barack Obama did mention the terrorist group ISIS, which is a group he discounted about a year or so ago.  The so-called Islamic State (aka ISIS) has gained a lot of power and strength in the past year or so (he did not mention al-Qaeda nor Boko Haram).  And though ISIS is having its own problems, more terrorism will strike the USA (Leviticus 26:14-17; Deuteronomy 32:25; Ezekiel 21:12; Psalms 73:12,19; Proverbs 1:25-27; cf. Psalm 83:3-8).

Short of national repentance the USA is doomed.  So, what can you do?

Well, personally you can repent and change. Notice two passages of scriptures:

38 … Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.

36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21:36)

Protection is available for those who truly repent and will uphold God’s priorities (see also There is a Place of Safety for the Philadelphians. Why it May Be Petra).

Something else all should do is to pray for government leaders:

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

This includes praying for political leaders like Barack Obama.

The state of politics in the USA is alarming, but this should not be too surprising as the end of the USA was predicted thousands of years ago (Habakkuk 2:6-8; Daniel 11:39).  The USA is not as strong as many of its political leaders want everybody to believe.  Believe the truth–as it can set you free (cf. John 8:32).

A long-time financial adviser named Harvey Organ claims that claims that because of insufficient gold in the central banks of USA and UK, that Shanghai would bring about exposing this and that this would lead to a massive, overnight, rise in the price of gold and silver, diminished value of their currencies. He states a market collapse will occur before the end of 2014, that the petroyuan will replace the petrodollar, and that a Chinese led New World Order will be in place for 2015. Is this possible? Kyiv Says Russian Military Attacked Its Forces Inside Eastern Ukraine

Ukraine said Tuesday that Russian forces had attacked its military units fighting separatists in eastern Ukraine’s Luhansk region.

Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said that “in violation of all prior agreements,” a “regular military formation of the Russian armed forces” had attacked Ukrainian forces in the northern part of the zone of the “anti-terrorist operation,” as Kyiv calls its campaign against the pro-Russian separatists.

Lysenko said heavy fighting was continuing around two Ukrainian military checkpoints near Slovyanoserbsk, but that government forces had “stopped the advance of Russian troops.”

He also said that Ukrainian intelligence had tracked three more battalion tactical groups of Russian motorized infantry and a Russian artillery division heading toward Russia’s border with Ukraine.

On Monday, Lysenko said some 700 Russian troops had crossed into Ukraine that day to back up rebel forces. On Tuesday, a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, Major General Igor Konashenkov, called Lysenko’s claim   “absolute nonsense.”

Peace talks this week

A new round of peace talks to settle the Ukraine conflict will be held Wednesday in Berlin, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said. The foreign ministers of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany will participate.

“We’re faced with a threatening situation again due to new fighting flaring up in eastern Ukraine in recent days,” Steinmeier said Tuesday.

According to Steinmeier, the request for a meeting came from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.

“We now need to prevent military confrontations from intensifying any more and avoid further political escalation between Kyiv and Moscow,” Steinmeier said.

A meeting on Ukraine involving the four countries’ leaders was to take place last week in Kazakhstan but was called off because of lack of progress in the implementation of a 12-point peace plan the warring sides agreed to in September in Minsk, Belarus.

Land grab accusations

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Klimkin accused pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine’s east of using the Minsk cease-fire deal to seize an additional 500 square kilometers (194 square miles) of land.

“Taking advantage of the fact that our forces complied with the cease-fire, the terrorists seized very substantial territory,” he said at a news conference. …

Yanukovych arrest warrant

At the request of the office of Ukraine’s prosecutor general, a Kyiv court issued an ‘in absentia’ arrest warrant for former President Viktor Yanukovych.

The USA has basically supported Kiev in many of its moves and actions–including its ‘undemocratic’ removal of former President Yanukovych.

A report I saw earlier said that the Europeans want to keep sanctions in place against Russia.  Russia may have decided that it has little to lose by making incursions into eastern Ukraine, whether or not the report from Kiev is accurate.

Most in the West do not realize how bad Russia wants Ukraine.

Russia wants the option to influence and/or acquire all the territory of Ukraine. It likely feels that its limited involvement is the least it can do to show support for the separatists that are opposing the Ukrainian government in Kiev. In the past Russia has basically dared Ukraine to attack, which would give it a claimed cause to fight back. The situation remains tense.

Russia’s President Putin basically believes that the West poses a threat to his nation and that if all of Ukraine goes into the European Union (which is what the government of Kiev wants), it will thus militarily align with the West (which is what it is in the process of doing). Russia does not want NATO closer.

Germany and the EU wants Ukraine, but does not want a war with Russia.

Many in the West do not realize this, but Kiev was once the capital of Russia. Russia considers Ukraine more of a province than a separate nation. Those in western Ukraine disagree (as do many in the east).

Many in parts of Ukraine and Russia are descendents from the ancient Medes. Those called Medes are also shown to destroy the final European Babylonian power according to both Isaiah and Jeremiah:

17 “Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them,
Who will not regard silver;
And as for gold, they will not delight in it.

11 Make the arrows bright!
Gather the shields!
The Lord has raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes.
For His plan is against Babylon to destroy it,
Because it is the vengeance of the Lord,
The vengeance for His temple. (Jeremiah 51:11)

The fact that there are multiple kings of the Medes indicates that multiple powers involved in this end time confederation represent multiple governments. Perhaps, such as Russia, Belarus, Crimea, and possibly some parts of Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, etc.

Even now, not all in Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia want to be part of the European Union, and some prefer to be in Russia’s upcoming Eurasian Union. Those that become disillusioned/disappointed by the EU may ultimately back out of it.

Sending in military and other supplies improves the relationship between Russia and some of its supporters in the Ukrainian territories. Prophecy will be fulfilled.

Vicious tapeworm infestations growing worldwide

CNN Once you consume them, they can move throughout your body — your eyes, your tissues and most commonly your brain. They leave doctors puzzled in their wake as they migrate and settle to feed on the body they’re invading; a classic parasite, but this one can get into your head.

“It had moved from one side of the brain to the other … very few things move in the brain,” says Dr. Effrossyni Gkrania-Klotsas about a British man found to have a tapeworm moving inside his brain in 2013. This form of tapeworm had never been seen before in the United Kingdom. …

Pork tapeworms

There are many forms of tapeworm, three of which can readily infect the brain. From a public health perspective, there’s one in particular to watch out for. “It’s mainly the pork tapeworm that’s the main brain one,” says Helena Helmby from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The pork species, known as Taenia Solium, can infect humans in two forms. The first is by eating undercooked pork from infected pigs, resulting in taeniasis — an adult worm residing in the intestine. The second, in the larval form, through contact with the feces of an infected pig or human, which can go on to infect many tissues. If the larval worm enters the nervous system, including the brain, it can result in a condition known as neurocysticercosis. Infection of this kind can often cause epilepsy once inside the brain. Almost a third of epilepsy cases in countries where the disease is native are people who have previously had neurocysticercosis, according to the World Health Organization.

Neurocysticercosis infection arises from poor sanitation and hygiene. “You can actually infect yourself,” says Helmby, as poor hygiene, such as failing to wash your hands, could result in you eating the eggs of an adult worm living in your intestine. “Self-infection is common.”

The global distribution of pork tapeworms is widespread with high numbers across Latin America, Africa and Asia, according to the World Health Organization. As a result of its higher prevalence and due to increased international travel, Gkrania-Klotsas has three patients in her care in Cambridge who have previously experienced neurocysticercosis.

Cause for concern?

Infections with pork tapeworms are common…

“I’m confident there will be more of this in the future,” agrees Gkrania-Klotsas, who has seen patients infected without having traveled abroad. “People are getting infections without going anywhere.”

There are many health risks associated with the consumption of pork and other biblically unclean animals by humans.

Since pork is a major item that many who eat unclean animals consume, let’s specifically look at some scriptural admonitions against eating it:

7 and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. 8 Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. They are unclean to you. (Leviticus 11:7-8)

8 Also the swine is unclean for you, because it has cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud; you shall not eat their flesh or touch their dead carcasses. (Deuteronomy 14:8)

3 “He who kills a bull is as if he slays a man; He who sacrifices a lamb, as if he breaks a dog’s neck; He who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood; He who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol. Just as they have chosen their own ways, And their soul delights in their abominations, 4 So will I choose their delusions, And bring their fears on them; Because, when I called, no one answered, When I spoke they did not hear; But they did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight.” (Isaiah 66:3-4)

3 A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face; Who sacrifice in gardens, And burn incense on altars of brick; 4 Who sit among the graves, And spend the night in the tombs; Who eat swine’s flesh, And the broth of abominable things is in their vessels; (Isaiah 65:3-4)

17 “Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves, To go to the gardens After an idol in the midst, Eating swine’s flesh and the abomination and the mouse, Shall be consumed together,” says the Lord. (Isaiah 66:17)

So, in at least three books of the Bible, eating the flesh of pigs is prohibited–and the last two-three references above were prophetic–and still are to be fulfilled.

The Bible also teaches:

2…Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good (Isaiah 55:2).

God did not intend pork to be a food for human beings.

There REMAIN health problems associated with pork.

Even the Church of Rome admits that early Christians did not consume pork (some details are in the article The New Testament Church, History, and Unclean Meats).  We in the Continuing Church of God do not consume pork.

EU foreign ministers met Monday in Brussels with the Arab League’s secretary general, Nabil Elaraby. Afterwards, EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini said the EU will be sharing information on suspected terrorists and possible attacks with many countries throughout the Arab world, Africa and Asia.

“We took a decision within the Foreign Affairs Council to coordinate in a much more active way than it has been the case so far,” said Mogherini.

BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union on Monday called for an anti-terror alliance with Arab countries to boost cooperation and information-sharing …

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said Monday that “we need an alliance. We need to strengthen our way of cooperating together.”

Mogherini later met with Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby. She also attended a meeting of the EU foreign ministers who are preparing for a summit of EU leaders in February focused on terrorism.  …

“That is what long-term will provide stability and security in this region, and to address the root causes of terrorism and radicalization as well,” said Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstroem. EU calls for anti-terror alliance with Arab countries

This will NOT result in real long-term stability–though it could lead to a temporary peace, that will end in destruction.  The Bible tells of several agreements that will involve a European power and the nations of North Africa and the Middle East, and none of them end well.

Notice two of them:

3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

5 For they have consulted together with one consent;
They form a confederacy against You:
6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites;
Moab and the Hagrites;
7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assyria also has joined with them;
They have helped the children of Lot. (Psalms 83:3-8)

27 Both these kings’ hearts shall be bent on evil, and they shall speak lies at the same table; but it shall not prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time. …

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels.  (Daniel 11:27, 40-43)

Now it should be mentioned that other than Assyria (which refers to part of Europe; see Germany’s Assyrian Roots Throughout History) the nations listed in both Pslam 83 and Daniel 11:41-43 are those in the Middle East and North Africa, and that the reference to Edom is a reference to Turkey.  These are the nations I have bolded in one of the news items above.  They are part of an end time confederation called in the Bible the King of the South.  The Beast of the Sea in Revelation 13:1-4, is a European power (cf. Daniel 9:26-27), and is called the King of the North in Daniel 11:40. The Bible shows both of these kings will make a deceitful deal in Daniel 11:27 as well as a destructive deal in Psalm 83:3-8.  The deal in Psalm 83:3-8 will not end well for the USA or its British-descended allies.  The deal in Danial 11:27 will not end well for the King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43).

I have been saying for some time that terrorism will be a factor in getting powers in the West, including Europe, to support the formation of a confederation of predominantly Islamic nations in North Africa and the Middle East to become the biblical King of the South.  One reader who emailed me yesterday noticed that and sent the following to me:

Yes, apparently you were right on the money about your prediction of the Islam King of the South according to today’s report in the BBC, as follows:

EU urges broad alliance on terrorism

Now, many in the world will think it is a good thing to have cooperation that may lead to peace.  Furthermore, the third deal to mention is the following:

26 … And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.  (Daniel 9:26-27)

The ‘third’ (the actual order may vary) deal is the covenant that is confirmed by “the prince who is to come” and from that point has a seven-year feature according to many who have studied this.  In other words, a temporary deal.  Because of other passages in Daniel, this is believed to be a type of peace deal.  This deal involves a leader from Europe (a detailed discussion of why Daniel 9:26-27 is referring to a seven-year period, involves a European ‘prince’, and is apparently a peace deal is in the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).

Cooperation between the Europeans and the Arab League & Turkey is prophesied in the Bible.  We are getting closer to the formation of the final King of the South of biblical prophecy.

Pope Francis can be a global force for peace …

Europe’s loss of faith makes it harder for people to comprehend the wider world and contributes to cultural misunderstanding. Luckily, there is the Roman Catholic Church to act as interpreter. The second thing that the crowds in Manila have shown is that Pope Francis is one of the most important diplomats of his era. He is a bridge between the West and the rest.

Of course, that has always been the case. …

As its official face, the papacy has always enjoyed diplomatic clout. In the early 1800s, the Pope pressured heads of state to suppress the slave trade. In the 1980s, Pope John Paul II united Christians in opposition to Communism. And Benedict XVI made overtures to the Eastern Orthodox — something that his intellectualism and love of liturgy made him especially well-placed to do. The personality of the pontiff helps define his mission.

As such, Francis is especially suited to the challenge of reaching out to the developing world. He is the first non-European Pope in nearly 1,300 years, coming from a country — Argentina — whose history touches upon relevant themes of colonialism and struggle for democracy….

More and more the mainstream is pointing to Pope Francis as an international peacemaker.  I would like to comment that the idea that the pontiff “is a bridge between the West and the rest” is interesting as the term pontiff signifies a being a bridge.  The title Pontifex Maximus essentially means the ‘great bridge-builder’ allegedly between the gods and humanity.  It was a title that the Roman emperors used until the Western Emperor Gratian renounced it in the latter half of the fourth century A.D.  The Church of Rome decided to adopt the title closely after the Roman emperor abandoned it.

Pontifex Maximus’s, whether from the Roman Empire or the Vatican, have not always promoted peace.  Many have promoted wars and persecution.

Many in the media like the pontiff’s calls for economic reforms, which, to me at least, hint of class warfare.  Many in the media like the ecumenical and interfaith agenda that Pope Francis pushes, even though the Bible warns against being part of that (Zechariah 2:6-7) and that it will end in disaster (Revelation 18:1-8).

The Bible warns about someone to come who likes like a peaceful lamb, but really is aligned with the devil, known as Satan the dragon:

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. (Revelation 13:11)

While Pope Francis may look like a lamb to many, many of his words and actions are those of Satan the dragon (Revelation 12:9). Much of the mainstream media does not pay attention to biblical prophecy and do not seem to realize where Pope Francis’ ‘peace’ plan will end up.

Leaders in the UK and USA made some warning comments about severe terrorist threats from elements of Islam:

January 19, 2015 WASHINGTON—Prime Minister David Cameron said Britain faces a “severe” threat of terrorist attack, while a European law enforcement official describes the security environment as “difficult.”

A U.S. lawmaker also warns of a growing threat of “homegrown violent extremism.”

Appearing on the CBS program Face the Nation on Sunday, Cameron said Britain faces a “severe threat” and that an attack is “highly likely.”

“This threat keeps morphing because it’s the same fundamental problem, extremist Islamist terror. The threat has changed and altered, but still based on the fundamental problem of a poisonous death cult narrative, which is a perversion of one of the world’s major religions,” said Cameron. …

Rob Wainwright, the director of the European Union law enforcement agency Europol, said a determined police response is underway in the wake of the January 7 and 9 terrorist attacks in France that killed 17 people.

“We’ve seen action now in Belgium, in Greece, Berlin and other locations as well, and it shows the nature of the threat we’re facing right now,” Wainwright said.

“It’s spread across so many European countries, perpetrated by a community of perhaps thousands of people who have been radicalized on the Internet, by their conflict experience in Syria and Iraq, and many of them have returned to European society with perhaps some of them with the intent and capability to carry out the attack,” he added. …

Homegrown extremism

Also appearing on Face the Nation, Republican Senator Marco Rubio, a member of the Intelligence Committee, said that along with the external threat, the United States also faces the potential of attack from “homegrown violent extremism.”

“What has made it more interesting and dangerous is the fact that some of these individuals that are plotting these attacks may have never traveled to the Middle East,” Rubio said.

“They have been radicalized at a local mosque or online, and they have received instruction and/or inspiration about how to carry out these attacks in the West from online platforms,” he said. “So, I think that’s a very real risk for Europe, which is closer to the Middle East and has large immigrant populations from that region, but it’s a real risk here in the United States, a country where every single year millions of people visit, travel to, emigrate to.”

In an appearance on the NBC program Meet the Press, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a member of the Armed Services Committee, insisted the Islamic State group and the al-Nusra Front in Syria and Iraq remain the biggest threat to the United States. http://www.voanews.com/content/terrorism-threat-to-dominate-eu-talks/2604206.html

While it is interesting that certain politicians are willing to name elements of Islam as posing real terrorist threats, so far, they have not been able to stop it.  In my view, they will decide to support a coming confederation of predominantly Islamic nations to control this, as the Bible shows that this will come in Daniel 11:40-43 and Ezekiel 30:2-8 (see also The Prophesied ‘Islamic’ Confederation).  The Bible also teaches of a time when a temporary peace will prevail for a few years (see The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).

Yet, I will also add that the Bible shows that terrorism is prophesied:

14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, 15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, 16 I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you. (Leviticus 26:14-17)

25 The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:25)

12 “Cry and wail, son of man; For it will be against My people, Against all the princes of Israel. Terrors including the sword will be against My people; Therefore strike your thigh. (Ezekiel 21:12)

12 Behold, these are the ungodly,Who are always at ease; They increase in riches…19 Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. (Psalms 73:12,19)

25 Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, 27 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. (Proverbs 1:25-27)

5 Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way (Ecclesiastes 12:5).

Some of this terror will happen before the ‘peace deal’ of Daniel 9:27.  And more will happen closer to the middle of the deal.

Jihadist gains in various parts of the world are a prelude to more terrorism.  A confederation against the USA, its Anglo-Saxon allies, and Israel involving Arab and European forces is coming (Psalm 83:3-8).  And I have long believed that terrorism will have to be part of this. The USA, its Anglo-Saxon allies, and Israel will end up being hit by massive terrorism (partially from Islamic-related sources) combined with destruction (Deuteronomy 32:25) from the King of the North (Daniel 11:39).

Republicans will not be able to fix the problems that the USA has.  Neither will the Democrats in the USA.  Nor will the political parties in the UK.

The USA and UK need national repentance, otherwise they (along with their allies Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) are doomed. It is almost impossible to believe that the next USA president would call for meaningful repentance before the USA is hit with more massive problems. The USA and UK need the return of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.  Until then, expect terrors, fears, and a coming false & temporary peace.
