More problems with Obamacare are becoming apparent:

It has not been a good week for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), better known as Obamacare.

A slew of news, from insurers dropping out to possible fraud among healthcare providers, has all accumulated in a deluge of negative headlines for one of President Obama’s signature laws.

In fact, it’s gotten so bad that it appears that the whole program itself may be in doubt. …

Aetna announced that it would be dropping around 80% of their policies offered through the ACA’s public-health exchanges after sustaining large losses on the Obamacare business.

This makes Aetna the third of the “big five” insurance firms (which includes Humana, United Health Care, Cigna, and Anthem) to announce a serious cut to their Obamacare business. … the New York Federal Reserve put out a study Tuesday that showed one out of every five businesses in the bank’s district — which includes parts of New Jersey and Connecticut — said they were reducing hiring due to Obamacare. http://www.businessinsider.com/obamacare-is-in-slow-motion-death-spiral-2016-8

ObamaCare was supposed to bring health costs down. But companies are trying to adjust to higher costs for premiums and prescription drugs.

Firms in the state say they are responding not only with payroll trims but — some 60 percent say — by also tweaking their health-care packages: specifically boosting deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums. More bad news for workers.

Not covered through your job? Then ObamaCare insurance rates are skyrocketing for you, too — by upward of 20 percent in New York.

True, many folks with individual ObamaCare insurance will get government subsidies. But taxpayers will foot that bill.

And, as Betsy McCaughey noted on these pages Wednesday, the tab for those subsidies is already running 50 percent higher than predicted.

I do believe that the “Affordable Care Act,” AKA Obamacare, is essentially an orchestrated catastrophe. I believe that the intention of many involved with it is to produce a ‘single-payer’ system for medical care in the USA, as many knew what was agreed to as law would face many problems–and more are expected.

A “single-payer” plan which essentially would be financed by the federal government of the USA and result in both tax increases and increased in the debt of the USA.

A new controversy is stirring over the Affordable Care Act, and this time it has nothing to do with the website.

One of the architects of the health care law was caught on camera saying the bill was written specifically so as not to be viewed as a tax. He then goes on to call American voters stupid, reports CBS News correspondent Jan Crawford.

He was one of the most senior advisers helping to create the health care law, and that’s why people could not believe he said this:

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage, and basically, you know, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass,” Jonathan Gruber said at the Annual Health Economics Conference.

Gruber was a key player in developing the law, and those remarks weren’t the only time an Obama adviser suggested the administration had pulled a fast one with the law.

“They proposed it and that passed because the American voters are too stupid to understand the difference,” he said.

The Obamacare deceit: A law built on lies

Video surfaced this week showing MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, an architect of Obamacare, speaking of that law at an October, 2013, academic conference. He said “this bill was written in a tortured way to make sure the CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scores the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. OK? So it’s written to do that.

“In terms of (inaudible) subsidies, if you had a law that said healthy people are going to pay in, that made it explicit that healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed. OK?”

He clarified even further: “Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass.”

The kicker: He said, referring to another person on the panel, “Look, I wish Mark was right, we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not.”

Let that sink in.

President Obama’s signature legislative accomplishment was written with the deliberate and malicious intent of deceiving the American people into supporting policies — especially massive wealth transfers — they never would have supported had they known the truth.

And by the way, taxpayers paid Gruber $392,600 for his work on Obamacare — work that involved hiding the effects and the costs of Obamacare from taxpayers.  http://www.unionleader.com/article/20141113/OPINION01/141119593

So, deceit was considered necessary to pass the bill commonly known as Obamacare.

Earlier this year, Barack Obama has gone and declared that those who are encouraging people to sign up for his healthcare law (often referred to as Obamacare) are doing God’s work (see Obama claims helping with Obamacare is ‘doing God’s work’).

Notice something from the Bible:

10 Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord deceitfully, (Jeremiah 48:10)

Obamacare support is not the ‘work of God,’ despite the fact that it may sometimes do some good.  Laws should not be written to be deceitfully passed.

Furthermore, Obamacare has attempted to force funding for abortion, something else that is NOT only NOT THE WORK OF GOD, but opposes the word of God.  Obamacare is covering ‘spouses’ in homosexual ‘marriages,’ which should not be allowed.

At this moment more are realizing that Obamacare has not fulfilled many of the promises Barack Obama made about it. Premiums have gone up for most, coverage has reduced for many, and insurance companies are leaving the market.

The human solution?

Well, if Hillary Clinton gets elected, some version of Hillarycare.

What is that?

Basically a single-payer system completely (or almost completely) run by the government. Even though it will supposedly attempt to equalize coverage, it is likely that at least high ranking government officials will get better coverage, faster access to care, etc. than many of the people will.  But it is likely to be touted as ‘fairer’ and ‘sustainable.’

Yet, it will have huge financial and other implications.

It will further result in increased taxes and likely increased debt.

Hillary Clinton tried to get her version of government mandated medical care law when her husband Bill was the President of the USA. She failed then, but she is leading in the polls and since Obamacare is having more recognized problems, she is likely to propose changes similar to her plans in the 1990s.

The USA also cannot lead the world economically indefinitely and is going to continue to increase its debt (cf. Habakkuk 2:6-8). Can those in the USA see the Handwriting on the Wall?

Tweaks to Obamacare, especially if Hillary Clinton becomes the next USA president (whether or not it is called Hillarycare) looks to be another item that will increase debt.

As far as medical care (as opposed to health care) in general, consider the fact that USA spends twice as much on ‘medications’ yet its death rate is higher than other nations.

We are getting closer to the time when the 6000 years of God’s 7000 year plan is up (see Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?)–and the USA will be no longer exist a few years before the 6000 years is up.

ISTANBUL —Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blamed Islamic State for Saturday’s attack on a wedding party that killed at least 50 people in the city of Gaziantep.

The wedding was attended by many Kurds in a Kurdish part of the city, near the Syria border. Erdogan said the suicide bomber was between 12 and 14 years old.

In a written statement published in Turkish media, Erdogan said there was “no difference” between IS, the Kurdish militants of the PKK, and followers of US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom he blames for the coup attempt last month. http://www.voanews.com/a/turkey-cites-terrorism-in-blast-that-killed-at-least-eight-at-wedding/3473325.html

The deadly attack in Gaziantep was carried out by a suicide bomber between the ages of 12 and 14, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters in Istanbul on Sunday, citing police sources. He said 51 people had been killed in the attack and 69 people were receiving treatment in the hospital, with 17 people in critical condition.

Mr. Erdogan also issued a statement earlier saying that the Islamic State was probably behind the attack and that its aim was to sow divisions among ethnic groups in the country and to “spread incitement along ethnic and religious lines.”

When I first saw this, Isaiah 3 came to mind:

11 Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him,
For the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 As for My people, children are their oppressors, (Isaiah 3:11-12).

We continue to see more and more deaths due to terrorist acts. According to a report I saw last night, the number of deaths related to terrorism have going up substantially.

Because of actions by groups such as the Islamic State and the terror attacks in the West, as well as in many of the Islam-dominated countries, many will decide that a coalition of nations in North Africa and the Middle East is what is needed for ‘peace.’

However this, according to the Bible, will not truly bring lasting peace (Daniel 11:40-43), though it may well lead to a temporary one (Daniel 9:27). Instead of real peace, an Islamic confederation would be a prelude to the time of coming destruction–and it will come suddenly (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:3).

My prayers go out to the Kurdish families of the victims.

Brexit Armageddon was a terrifying vision – but it simply hasn’t happened

Project Fear predicted economic meltdown if Britain voted leave, so where are the devastated high streets, job losses and crashing markets?

Unemployment would rocket. Tumbleweed would billow through deserted high streets. Share prices would crash. The government would struggle to find buyers for UK bonds. Financial markets would be in meltdown. Britain would be plunged instantly into another deep recession.

Remember all that? It was hard to avoid the doom and gloom, not just in the weeks leading up to the referendum, but in those immediately after it. Many of those who voted remain comforted themselves with the certain knowledge that those who had voted for Brexit would suffer a bad case of buyer’s remorse.

It hasn’t worked out that way. The 1.4% jump in retail sales in July showed that consumers have not stopped spending, and seem to be more influenced by the weather than they are by fear of the consequences of what happened on 23 June. Retailers are licking their lips in anticipation of an Olympics feelgood factor.

The financial markets are serene. Share prices are close to a record high, and fears that companies would find it difficult and expensive to borrow have proved wide of the mark. …

Some caveats are in order. It is still early days. Hard data is scant. Survey evidence is still consistent with a slowdown in the economy in the second half of 2016. It is true that the Brexit vote has not yet devastated the economy of the United Kingdom. While the British pound is down in value relative to major currencies, life goes on in the UK.

As far as Armageddon goes, the reality is that the United Kingdom will be gone years before massive troops gather there as the Bible foretells in Revelation 16:12-16.

Because of biblical prophecies, it has long been the view of the Church of God that the UK would not be an equal member of the Beast power that will arise in Europe (Revelation 13), but instead will one day be taken over.

Now, it should be mentioned that the parliament of the UK still has to approve the vote.  But presuming it does, the UK will be, in time, out of the European Union–though it seemingly wants to become part of the European Economic Area (EEA), like Norway is or do something else keeping ties with the EU.  Yet, a vengeful EU will try to decide how to handle this–it does not want the UK to look successful outside the EU.

This parting of the ways is something that many of us in the Church of God have long expected.

Actually, back in the early 1990s, when I was vice president of an irrigation equipment manufacturer, I told our British sales representative, who was visiting the factory in California, that one day the UK would separate from Europe.  He flat out told me that would not possibly happen.  And he gave reasons, but they were not biblical ones–I told him he was in error.  The Brexit vote shows that he, who was not part of the Church of God, was in error.

Consider further that on June 26, 2007, (see Tony Blair a Catholic EU Leader?), I posted the following:

We in the COGs tend to believe that the final beast power will be nominally Catholic (see Europa and the Beast of Revelation)…we in the COGs do believe that Britain will pull out of the EU…

On August 18, 2012, related to the possible Brexit back then, I wrote:

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will not be an equal part of the European Union. Britain will either pull out or be forced out or at least truly lose its sovereignty. Many of the Anglo-peoples of the UK, USA, etc. that are not killed will to be scattered and many will be made slaves (Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?). That is what the Bible shows will happen during the Great Tribulation.

As far as this “Beast King” goes, he could possibly be the next EU president, but a restructure ultimately will be needed in Europe for the King of the North to have the type of power that the Bible indicate he will have (Revelation 17:12-13). The EU is not ready for that yet.

However, Tony Blair’s statements today are pointing to one more step towards certain biblical prophesies being fulfilled as he is realizing that the UK wants to pull out of the UK–and that is something will happen (directly or indirectly).

The final King of the North (Daniel 11:27-40) will take over the UK, USA, and their Anglo-allies according to Bible prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:39). While more people in the UK are starting to realize that the EU poses dangers to it, most have no idea how dangerous the rising Beast power in Europe will become (cf. Revelation 13:1-4; Daniel 11:39). Britain will ultimately NOT thrive as part of the EU but will be taken over by the final European Beast power. (Thiel B. Church of God News, August 18, 2012)

On September 13, 2015, I posted:

Will the refugee problem break apart Europe?

Well, it is likely to be a factor that will result in the UK splitting from the continental Europeans. (Thiel B. Will ‘Islamic Invasion’ by migrants break up the European Union? COGwriter, September 13, 2015)

And the migrant/refugee matter was a factor in the Brexit vote.

So what is next?

This Brexit vote marks a time of change and transition for the UK.

We are in the time that Jesus referred to as the “beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:4-8) and despite the relative calm in the UK now, more troubles are expected:

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.  (Mark 13:8)

But there will also be times when things appear to be fine  (e.g. 1 Thessalonians 5:3; also check out the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27). And changes will come.

Some feel that the Brexit vote means the end of a united Europe.  But that is not the case.

The Bible is clear that Europe will unite, but it is also clear that there will be problems of unity in Europe:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)

Despite that, when Europe finally emerges the world will marvel:

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”  (Revelation 13:1-4)

While some may consider that the Brexit vote is a ‘deadly wound’ for Europe, Europe is not over and will arise.

Notice that the military power of the Beast was something that the world will marvel, be astonished about.

Why?

Because few truly thought that the European Beast power had the ability to rise up militarily.

And when it does, it will lead to the end of the UK, as well as the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39).

It does not have that yet–but is working on it (see European Technology and the Beast of Revelation).

The Bible tells of coming reorganizations in Europe:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

The UK and USA will be destroyed:

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:39)

The ‘he’ is the European King of the North. The strongest fortresses in the 21st century belong to the USA, and to a much lessor degree, its British-descended allies. And these lands will be divided (see also Will the Anglo-Saxon Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves? ).

The destruction that is coming will not be limited to the USA– the UK will be impacted.

The Bible shows after problems happen, the UK peoples will try to make another deal with the Europeans, prophetically sometimes referred to as the Assyrians (cf. Isaiah 10).

Notice that in Hosea 12:1, Ephraim tries to make a deal with the Assyrians:

1 Ephraim feeds on the wind, And pursues the east wind; He daily increases lies and desolation. Also they make a covenant with the Assyrians. And oil is carried to Egypt.

And in Hosea 7:11-12 Ephraim also tries to make a deal with Egypt and Assyria. This deal seems to be made after the USA has been eliminated or is on its way out.

11 Ephraim also is like a silly dove, without sense—They call to Egypt, They go to Assyria. 12 Wherever they go, I will spread My net on them; I will bring them down like birds of the air; I will chastise them, According to what their congregation has heard.

There is nothing that I am aware of in world history that shows that Ephraim calls to Egypt after Hosea was written in a manner to fulfill that prophecy. Since this is a prophecy that must come to pass (this is one more reason why I believe the Bible supports the concept that the King of the North invades the U.S.A. and its English-speaking allies before it invades the King of the South).

Notice that Ephraim will eat unclean things in Assyria:

3 They shall not dwell in the Lord’s land, But Ephraim shall return to Egypt, And shall eat unclean things in Assyria. (Hosea 9:3)

These verses in Hosea suggest that the Ephraimites (United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) and the Jews (modern Israel) think they should get some protection from Assyria (Germany), probably because the U.S.A. (Manasseh, Israel?) was the primary reason the King of the North attacked the strongest fortresses and/or because they have made various treaties.

Furthermore, it shows that one of the reasons that Israel, including Ephraim, is swallowed up is because they trusted Assyria. Assyria is a people who Isaiah 10 shows will destroy nations.

In the Bible, Ephraim, Manasseh, and Judah are also prophesied to turn on each other to some degree (Isaiah 9:21).

This seems to be consistent also with a Catholic prophecy:

St. Senanus (died 560): They (English) themselves will betray each other… (Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, p. 128)

Hosea 10:9-11 suggests that Ephraim and Judah will be forced into hard labor, perhaps around this time as well; while 11:1-8 says that Assyria will be the king of Ephraim and Israel, because they refused to repent, and that the sword will devour their cities.

The last verse in Hosea (14:9) begins with:

9 Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them.

Note that the word translated as “prudent” above is the same Hebrew biyn that is in Daniel 11:33/35 as understanding. Since I believe that the Philadelphian portion of the Church is to have the wise and prudent, I believe that Hosea is giving more insight as to why it may be tied into Daniel 11.

Amos makes it clear that a sinful nation will be destroyed and its people scattered:

8 “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom, And I will destroy it from the face of the earth; Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” Says the Lord. 9 “For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground. (Amos 9:8-9)

Amos 9:10 makes it clear that those who overlook these prophecies will suffer:

10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, ‘The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’ (Amos 9:10)

But although many will be killed, this scattering and captivity will end:

47 Save us, O Lord our God, And gather us from among the Gentiles…(Psalms 106:47)

11 For I am with you,’ says the Lord, ‘to save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, Yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go altogether unpunished.’ (Jeremiah 30:11)

10 “Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, And declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’ 11 For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, And ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he. (Jeremiah 31:10-11)

16 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I shall be a little sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.”‘ 17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”‘ 18 And they will go there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there. 19 Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, 20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. (Ezekiel 11:16-21)

33 “As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I will rule over you. 34 I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face. 36 Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you,” says the Lord God. (Ezekiel 20:33-36)

25 “I will make a covenant of peace with them, and cause wild beasts to cease from the land; and they will dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods. 26 I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing. 27 Then the trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase. They shall be safe in their land; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have broken the bands of their yoke and delivered them from the hand of those who enslaved them. 28 And they shall no longer be a prey for the nations, nor shall beasts of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and no one shall make them afraid. 29 I will raise up for them a garden of renown, and they shall no longer be consumed with hunger in the land, nor bear the shame of the Gentiles anymore. 30 Thus they shall know that I, the Lord their God, am with them, and they, the house of Israel, are My people,” says the Lord God.’” (Ezekiel 34:13-30)

21 “Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God. 24 “David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. (Ezekiel 37:21-24)

22 The punishment of your iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; He will no longer send you into captivity. (Lamentations 4:22)

The passages from Ezekiel were never fulfilled by the Jews returning to the Middle East. It is a prophecy for the future. And it will come to pass.

The time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), also known as the Great Tribulation, is coming.  The UK will be affected by it.

The UK will one day be taken over by a European power and its peoples made slaves. This will happen before Armageddon.

But God will end that captivity when He establishes His kingdom–which happens after Armageddon.

That is what the Bible says and the analysts overlook.

As far as the economy goes, a post-Brexit United Kingdom will likely try to make deals with not only the USA and Asia, but many of its one-time colonies.

However, ultimately that will NOT save the UK (nor the USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand for that matter (cf. Daniel 11:39; Jeremiah 30:7).

‘Mother Theresa’ (1986 Túrelio)

Pope Francis set September 4, 2016 as the date for the canonization as a Catholic saint for the one called ‘Mother Theresa.’ In conjunction with this, the Vatican is planning on promoting her at the United Nations. Zenit.org, a pro-Vatican news source, reported the following:

August 19, 2016

On 4 September in Rome, Pope Francis will declare Mother Teresa a saint. In celebration of this event, the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations, together with Alliance Defending Freedom, will host an exhibition dedicated to her words, witness, and works at the UN Headquarters in New York.

“‘Mother Teresa is the United Nations’ –  were the words used by UN Secretary General Pérez de Cuéllar in 1985 to introduce the Catholic nun before her speech in front of the General Assembly. Today, we commemorate her life with his exhibit, shown at the heart of the UN, to remind us of her wisdom, her outstanding work, and her radical love for every human being, the poor, the sick, the unborn, and the dying,” said ADF International Executive Director Doug Napier. https://zenit.org/articles/holy-see-at-un-to-host-event-on-mother-teresa/

It appears that the Vatican believes that this ‘canonization’ will help its standing in the world as well as push Pope Francis’  interfaith agenda. The United Nations supports that interfaith agenda (see United Nations: Humankind’s Last Hope or New World Order?), which is probably at least part of why it has agreed to let the Church of Rome promote ‘Theresa” at the UN.

The one commonly called ‘Mother Theresa’ was originally named Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu.

There have been various ones who have long opposed her path towards Roman Catholic sainthood. Basically, they claim she was a publicity hound, was hypocritical, had various character flaws, and was not truly interested in helping the poor.

Notice something a biographer wrote about her:

She cultivated her celebrity.

Teresa was famous first in India, then worldwide, partly through the efforts of British journalist Malcolm Muggeridge and partly due to another gift. “The way she spoke to journalists showed her to be as deft a manipulator as any high-powered American public relations expert,” noted Irish rocker/philanthropist Bob Geldof. …

“The silence and the emptiness is so great,” she wrote, “that I look and do not see– the tongue moves (in prayer) but does not speak.”

Critics like the late Christopher Hitchens said the correspondence proved Teresa was just a “confused old lady.” But the letters were issued by her postulator, the Vatican-appointed advocate for her sainthood. http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/10/my-take-the-mother-teresa-you-dont-know/comment-page-21/

Notice also the following:

While she worked with the poor, Mother Teresa was adamant that any type of evangelism was unnecessary. In her book, Life in the Spirit: Reflections, Meditations and Prayers, she says:

“We never try to convert those who receive [aid from Missionaries of Charity] to Christianity but in our work we bear witness to the love of God’s presence and if Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, or agnostics become for this better men — simply better — we will be satisfied. It matters to the individual what church he belongs to. If that individual thinks and believes that this is the only way to God for her or him, this is the way God comes into their life — his life. If he does not know any other way and if he has no doubt so that he does not need to search then this is his way to salvation.” (Pages 81-82)

With such a statement we can only be left believing that she was more than a Catholic, but was a Universalist, believing essentially that all religion leads to the same God. Time and again we see her expounding such universalist beliefs. In an interview with Christian News a nun who worked with Mother Teresa was asked the following in regards to the Hindus they worked with, “These people are waiting to die. What are you telling them to prepare them for death and eternity?” She replied candidly, “We tell them to pray to their Bhagwan, to their gods.” …

The six steps to peace taught by Mother Teresa are silence, prayer, faith, love, service, and peace. For anyone who was unsure of what they believed, she suggested starting with small acts of love towards others. She includes three pages of sample prayers and prefaces them by saying that if you are not a Christian you could replace the name “Jesus” with “God.” (Page 35). Through the entire book there is never a hint that she relies on Christ alone for her salvation. Rather we read things like, “I’ve always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic” (Page 31).

Consider also the following quote from another source, “I love all religions. … If people become better Hindus, better Muslims, better Buddhists by our acts of love, then there is something else growing there.” Or in another place, “All is God — Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, etc., all have access to the same God.”

We see, then, that Mother Teresa held beliefs that contradict many Biblical principles. Chief among these principles is that Christ is the only means of salvation. In John 14:6 Jesus states, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” By teaching that all religion could bridge the gap between man and God, Mother Teresa taught principles completely opposed to the Bible. http://www.challies.com/articles/the-myth-of-mother-teresa

So, is telling Hindus to pray to their god (Bhagwan) something a Christian saint would do?

Of course not.

She was truly a promoter of an interfaith agenda that does not square with the Bible. Notice several of her statements:

“If in coming face to face with God we accept Him in our lives, then we are converting. We become a better Hindu, a better Muslim, a better Catholic, a better whatever we are …. What God is in your mind you must accept” (from Mother Teresa: Her People and Her Work, by Desmond Doig, [Harper & Row, 1976, p.156]).

“I convert you to be a better Hindu or a better Muslim or a better Protestant. Once you’ve found God, it’s up to you to decide how to worship him.” (“Mother Teresa Touched Other Faiths,” AP, Sept. 7, 1997).

“I’ve always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic” (A Simple Path, p. 31).

If the individual thinks and believes that his or her way is the only way to God, then that is their way of salvation” (pp. 74-75). (Mark Michael Zima, Mother Teresa: The Case for the Cause)

“At the word of a priest, that little piece of bread becomes the body of Christ … Then you give this bread to us, so that we too might live and become holy …” (Mother Teresa’s speech made at the Worldwide Retreat for Priests, Oct. 1984)

“So let us ask the help of our Lady! She is a Mother full of grace, full of God, full of Jesus. Let us ask her to be our Mother, guiding us and protecting us …. It is true that we are already being helped by our tremendous devotion to Mary. She is our patroness and our Mother, and she is always leading us to Jesus” (Mother Teresa, Be Holy, p. 75).

A co-worker of Mother Teresa’s was asked this question: “These people are waiting to die. What are you telling them to prepare them for death and eternity?” Mother Teresa’s co-worker (a nun) stated, “We tell them to pray to their Bhagwan, to their gods.” (Interview with Christian News)

The April 7-13, 1990, issue of Radio Times tells the story of Mother Teresa taking care of a dying Hindu priest. “She nursed him with her own hands and helped him to die reconciled with his own gods. (http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/motherteresasc.htm accessed 03/15/16)

She also did not seem to actually believe in God as some of her own writings confirm that she lost faith:

“I am told God lives in me — and yet the reality of darkness and coldness and emptiness is so great that nothing touches my soul,” she wrote at one point. “I want God with all the power of my soul — and yet between us there is terrible separation.” On another occasion she wrote: “I feel just that terrible pain of loss, of God not wanting me, of God not being God, of God not really existing.” http://www.foxnews.com/story/2007/08/24/mother-teresa-did-not-feel-christ-presence-for-last-half-her-life-letters.html

“I spoke as if my heart was in love with God – tender, personal love,” she wrote to another adviser, wondering if she was involved in “verbal deception” of the millions who followed her every act as proof of God’s existence.

So, she promoted Hinduism, didn’t really believe in God, and felt that people who understood her would consider her as a hypocrite.

So, the Church of Rome plans to officially declare her one of their saints. Theresa’s theology fits well with the Vatican’s interfaith plan. This also seems to fit in with a Hindu prophecy related to the Bhagwan as well (see India and the Beast of Revelation 13).

Now, let’s look at the Roman Catholic and biblical criteria for sainthood.

For a time, the Church of Rome allegedly wanted to see evidence that the bodies did not decay (so called ‘incorruptibility’) for someone to be declared a saint after death, but they do not do that now (though they still consider ‘incorruptibility’ as a potential miracle).

The current Vatican procedure for making one a saint seems to be that the person be well-known, that people pray to the individual after he/she died, and that two reported ‘miracles’ (normally claimed healings) take place after the death credited to the potential saint, which the Vatican makes some attempts to verify.

As far as the somewhat traditional Vatican criteria for declaring sainthood compared to the biblical criteria, there are a few points to mention (and I have chosen to use Catholic translations of the Bible to demonstrate that even their versions of the Bible support my points here).

First of all, one does not BECOME a saint after one dies. The Apostle Paul clearly referred to saints that were alive in his writings. Here are few examples:

21 Salute ye every saint in Christ Jesus. 22 The brethren who are with me, salute you. All the saints salute you; especially they that are of Caesar’s household. (Philippians 4:21-22, DRB)

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, to all the saints who are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 1:1, DRB)

15 And I beseech you, brethren, you know the house of Stephanas, and of Fortunatus, and of Achaicus, that they are the firstfruits of Achaia, and have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the saints: (1 Corinthians 16:15, DRB)

The Bible does not endorse the Pope nor anyone else being able to canonize someone as a saint after death. One becomes a saint, a firstfruit, by becoming a real Christian. Only God, not any man like a pontiff, can make anyone else a saint (cf. Romans 8:9).

There are literally dozens of scriptures that use the term saints for people living at the time the New Testament was written.

Another point to make is that there is one mediator, and that is Jesus, and no one else:

5 For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus: (1 Timothy 2:5, DRB)

People are not to pray to dead people. There is no verse in the Bible that shows that any of God’s people ever did that. There is no hint in the Bible that Christians are to pray to dead people.

Notice also something that the Apostle Peter stated:

10…the name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God hath raised from the dead, even by him this man standeth here before you whole.

11 This is the stone which was rejected by you the builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:10-12, DRB)

Notice that Peter did not claim he could heal anybody. Furthermore, he would not allow people to bow down before him:

25. And it came to pass, When Peter was come in, Cornelius came to meet him, and falling at his feet adored. 26. But Peter lifted him up saying, Arise, myself also am a man. (Acts 10:25-26, DRB)

Christians are not supposed to pray to dead humans for intercession.

Notice what the Bible teaches that the sick are to do:

¹⁴ Any one of you who is ill should send for the elders of the church, and they must anoint the sick person with oil in the name of the Lord and pray over him.

¹⁵ The prayer of faith will save the sick person and the Lord will raise him up again; and if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. (James 5:14-15, NJB)

Those who pray to the dead for healing are not in obedience to these biblical instructions.

As far as ‘Mother Theresa’ herself goes, consider the following:

5 Be sure of this, that no fornicator or impure man, or one who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. (Ephesians 5:5-6, RSV-Catholic edition)

As a lifelong idolater, Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu does not meet the biblical requirements to be in the kingdom of God, hence was not a saint when she lived nor will she be a real one on or after the Vatican makes a formal declaration on September 4th.

It is my view that the usual criteria for sainthood by the Vatican gets people to look away from what the Bible actually teaches and puts too great of emphasis on signs that appear to be ‘lying wonders’ which deceive many (cf. Matthew 24:11; 2 Thessalonians 2:9).

And this general emphasis towards the pointing to signs and wonders will be a factor in the rise of the Beast and Antichrist, and possibly will involve a female appearing figure (cf. Isaiah 47; Revelation 17 & 18).

Yet true Christians are to “walk by faith, and not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). In my view, Pope Francis is walking by signs, wonders, and politics and not biblical criteria and getting others to accept that. This does not bode well for the world.

“Elijah in the wilderness“

Last month, I posted an article at the www.ccog.org website titled: 501(c)(3)? Why the Continuing Church of God chose a better option.

Apparently the webmaster at the Banned By HWA site (an anti-Church of God website) did not read it.

Why do I think that?

Well, he attempted to claim that I am trying to “pull one over on the government” according to the headline of a post there this afternoon.

He seemingly did not like the fact that I said I did not use Continuing Church of God funds to produce a particular video.  He also posted:

He uses his son or other church member to help record the sermon.

But that is a flat-out false assertion and lie. I setup this particular video, started the video recording, and personally ended the video recording. While my son Brian did edit it (as I posted in the Letter to the Brethren: August 18, 2016), no one helped me record it nor wrote it for me.

The webmaster is an accuser of the brethren, and often a bearer of false witness.

Among other lies and accusations he made in that post about me there, is that he claims that I take a parsonage allowance for the house I live in (I do not) and that I deduct electricity related to the parsonage (which I do not)–I do not take a ‘parsonage allowance’ at all. He makes a variety of statement that he seems to assert are facts, but which he does not know about.

The Bible says:

4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
Lest you also be like him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
Lest he be wise in his own eyes. (Proverbs 26:4-5)

So, while I normally do not bother deal with the lies and false assertions at the Banned by HWA website, I thought that I would address a couple of issues, as well as take the time to remind everyone that I still do not take a salary from the Continuing Church of God, nor do I take a parsonage or similar allowance.

The Banned by HWA website also regularly calls me a ‘false prophet.’  Its webmaster has claimed that I have made false prophecies (which is not true) and that nothing I have said came to pass (also not true; I even posted something earlier today which showed that something I wrote on September 13, 2015 came to pass this Summer–see Germany proposing a type of burqa ban).

He and those at his site should cease and desist from such things, believe the Bible, and prayerfully study the article How To Determine If Someone is a True Prophet of God.

Sadly, because many involved with the Banned by HWA website do not have a real love of the truth, they do not seem to care about their false assertions and conclusions.

Anyway, the latest thing that I apparently did to get attention by the Banned by HWA website was to personally produce a video giving my personal opinions on why I would not vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton (you can watch 10 Reasons Not to Vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton).

If the Continuing Church a God was a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization, certain rules would apply (which I do not believe I violated).  But since we are not, 501(3)(c) specific rules do not apply to the CCOG.

A 501(c)(3) is a nonprofit ‘public charity’ that registered itself with the IRS to be subject to IRS 501(c)(3)-related regulations.

The IRS Publication 4221 states this status is supposedly beneficial, but has some strings attached:

Compliance Guide for 501(c)(3) Public Charities Federal tax law provides tax benefits to nonprofit organizations recognized as exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Code). The Code requires that tax-exempt organizations must comply with federal tax law to maintain tax-exempt status and avoid penalties.

One federal tax law, an attached string, to be concerned about for 501(c)(3) churches has to do with something called the Johnson Amendment. Here is some information about it:

History of the Johnson Amendment

The Johnson Amendment was passed by Congress in 1954 as an amendment to section 501(c)(3) of the federal tax code. The Johnson Amendment states that entities who are exempt from federal income tax cannot:

Participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of – or in opposition to – any candidate for public office. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/7/17/1549065/-The-Johnson-Amendment-what-it-is-and-why-Trump-wants-to-abolish-it

While secular nonprofit organizations must register for 501(c)(3) status if they want tax deductibility status for their donors, according to statute 501(c)(3) (and other statutes), churches are still automatically exempted from having to do this as they are automatically considered to be public charities.

Notice what the IRS states in its publication 1828 titled 501(c)(3) Tax Guide for Churches & Religious Organizations:

Recognition of Tax-Exempt Status

Automatic Exemption for Churches

Churches that meet the requirements of IRC Section 501(c)(3) are automatically considered tax exempt and are not required to apply for and obtain recognition of tax-exempt status from the IRS. Although there is no requirement to do so, many churches seek recognition of tax-exempt status from the IRS because this recognition assures church leaders, members and contributors that the church is recognized as exempt … (Publication 1828 Revision 8-2015)

Thus, an actual church is a non-profit organization per statute 501(c)(3), without ever having to file for registration. Now, being in California, the CCOG did have to file to receive an exempt determination letter from the State of California, and we received it (for more on that, see 501(c)(3)? Why the Continuing Church of God chose a better option)–but again the CCOG is not a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit).

Churches that do not register as a 501(c)(3) organization simply do not have the additional 501(c)(3) requirements.

Some have claimed that registering as a 501(c)(3) church means that the federal government, and/or local governments, will have control of what can be preached and taught. Thus far, while there is some truth in that, this often has been overstated by opponents of a 501(c)(3) status for churches. Generally speaking, the IRS does not get involved in what churches teach unless it is considered to be ‘political speech’ (because of the Johnson Amendment). Yet, as we see more secularization in the USA, this could become a very serious issue one day.

While the Continuing Church of God is tax-exempt, etc. under 501(c)(3), we have not registered to be under additional 501(c)(3) regulations and possibly future burdens as that was less expensive for us initially as well as for future operations.

Now, here is some of what the IRS has put out about that in its Publication 1828 titled 501(c)(3) Tax Guide for Churches & Religious Organizations related to that:

Political Campaign Activity

Under the Internal Revenue Code, all IRC Section 501(c)(3) organizations, including churches and religious organizations, are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. Contributions to political campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) made by or on behalf of the organization in favor of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign activity. Violation of this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of excise tax…. ; or (c) have the effect of favoring a candidate or group of candidates, will constitute prohibited participation or intervention. …

Issue Advocacy vs . Political Campaign Intervention

Like other Section 501(c)(3) organizations, some churches and religious organizations take positions on public policy issues, including issues that divide candidates in an election for public office. However, 501(c)(3) organizations must avoid any issue advocacy that functions as political campaign intervention. Even if a statement does not expressly tell an audience to vote for or against a specific candidate, an organization delivering the statement is at risk of violating the political campaign intervention prohibition if there is any message favoring or opposing a candidate. A statement can identify a candidate not only by stating the candidate’s name but also by other means such as showing a picture of the candidate, referring to political party affiliations or other distinctive features of a candidate’s platform or biography. …

Individual Activity by Religious Leaders

The political campaign activity prohibition isn’t intended to restrict free expression on political matters by leaders of churches or religious organizations speaking for themselves, as individuals. Nor are leaders prohibited from speaking about important issues of public policy. … To avoid potential attribution of their comments outside of church functions and publications, religious leaders who speak or write in their individual capacity are encouraged to clearly indicate that their comments are personal and not intended to represent the views of the organization.

The COGwriter.com website is my personal website, not officially part of the Continuing Church of God. This is not something new.

This website existed for many years prior to the formation of the CCOG. Furthermore, even after CCOG formed, the home page of COGwriter.com still states:

Normally, CCOG pays for the editing of various videos–which mainly entails putting scriptures being read up on the screen. In this case, CCOG did not.

Even though the Johnson Amendment is for 501(c)(3) churches, I decided to make it clear that the message 10 Reasons Not to Vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton was my personal opinion. A personal opinion, with which yes, I quoted several scriptures.

But freedom of religious speech is still supposed to be covered by the first amendment to the Constitution of the United States (which is where I live). Even if there are critics and accusers of the brethren who do not like what is being said.

The webmaster and some others at the Banned By HWA site remain in my prayers.

Two Women Wearing Burqas

Following the lead in Belgium and France, some in Germany want to at least partially ban the burqa (sometimes spelled burka) that certain Muslim women wear:

Federal Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere has come out in favor of a ban on full-face veils in certain areas of public life, making a partial concession to his state-level colleagues in the Christian Democratic Union.

De Maiziere presented the “Berlin Declaration” on Friday morning alongside other conservative interior ministers following a meeting in Berlin on Thursday night to hash out the final details of the plan.

“We unanimously reject the burqa,” de Maiziere told public TV network ZDF on Friday morning. “It does not fit in our open country.” He added that CDU interior ministers have pledged to draw up legislation that would force people to show their faces where “it is necessary for living together in our society.”

According to de Maiziere, these situations included driving a car, visiting public authorities, in schools and universities, working in public service and appearing in court. He added that the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the CDU’s coalition partner in the federal government and some states, would agree with much of the Berlin Declaration. …

The commonly used phrase “burqa ban” is something of a misnomer in a German context: The burqa, a loose cloak where the eyes are also covered with a mesh, common in Afghanistan and Pakistan, is virtually unknown – though the niqab, where the eyes are visible, is occasionally seen in Germany.

Germany could become the next European country to ban face veils under a proposal announced on Friday by officials in the ruling coalition.
The officials intend to have the face veils banned in public places where identification is required — such as registry offices, schools, kindergartens and government offices — saying that they did not fit in with Germany’s society.

“Full-face veils, as mentioned, we reject this. Not just the burka, any full-face veils that only shows eyes of a person,” said Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere at a press conference held by members of the Christian Democratic Union and their allied Christian Social Union, which govern in a coalition.

Historically, when Europe takes steps against Islam, it also tends to take steps to be closer to the Church of Rome. And yes, I feel this type of ban is more likely in more nations in Europe than in Australia (though politics is a tricky thing).

What many people do not realize is that in places like Turkey young women are PAID by Islamic groups based outside the country to actually wear the burqa. And thus, many poorer young women wear burqa there as a source of income. So while certain Muslims are trying to increase control and influence by doing that, many in Europe and elsewhere have realized that these signs of Muslim influence are not what their countries should put up with.

France also recently banned ‘burkinis’ (also spelled burqini)–full body swimsuits–the Muslim women use. They have so far warned or fined 10 women for violating that law:

Ten Muslim women have been warned or fined for wearing burkinis – or full body swimsuits – on a French beach after three seaside towns banned the Islamic garments since the end of July following a series of Islamist terror attacks.

All of the women flouting the new laws were caught by police officers in the Riviera resort of Cannes and forced to leave the beach. While I do understand why facial covering burqas would be subject to a ban, telling women that they cannot have much of their bodies covered while swimming, in my view at least, is wrong.

As far as the Muslims in Europe go, notice some items I posted about this back in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2015:

The reality is that the Muslims will force Europe to wake-up and re-establish themselves.  Historically, when Europe has been strongly opposed to Islam it has had greater ties to the Vatican.

The reality is that the Muslims will be a major factor to get Europe to wake-up and re-establish itself.  Historically, when Europe has been strongly opposed to Islam it has had greater ties to the Vatican.

A divide between Islam and the nominally-Christian Europe is going to become more and more real.  Though there will be apparent cooperation (cf. Psalm 83; Daniel 11:27), the two will turn against each other (Daniel 11:40-43). (Thiel B. France Begins Burqa Ban. COGwriter, April 11, 2011)

Yet, there are changes happening in Europe.  And according to the Bible, more economic (Revelation 13: 14-17)  and political ones must come to pass (Revelation 17:12-13).  A currency change from the Euro  is a possible, but not biblically-required, change.

As far as the anti-Islamists go, the Bible shows that a European military leader will line up with a religious leader from the city of seven hills (Revelation 17) and ultimately defeat the forces of Islam (Daniel 11:40-43), despite having earlier made one of more deals with the Islamists (cf. Psalm 83:3-8; Daniel 9:27; Daniel 11:27).

Irrespective of one or more temporary political deals with those of the Islamic faith, the anti-Islamic sentiment that Geert Wilders and others have tapped into in Europe is real.  And according to the Bible, it will be resolved in ways differently  than Geert Wilders and others like him publicly state (Daniel 11:40-42). Will the refugee problem break apart Europe?

Well, it is likely to be a factor that will result in the UK splitting from the continental Europeans.

But what about the continental Europeans, will they split up or unite closer?

Well, although the Bible states that they will have unification problems (Daniel 2:41-43), it also shows that they will reorganize and put in a dictator, the Beast of Revelation (Revelation 17:12-13; see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?).  A Europe will arise with a powerful militaristic leader (Revelation 13:4; see also Europa, the Beast, and Revelation) who will enter with peaceful sounding words (Daniel 8:25; 9:27; 11:21-24; see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27), yet he will be the prophesied King of the North. …

Although there is a pontiff who currently is endorsing the acceptance of these migrants into Europe (see Pope Francis tells tens of thousands of European Catholic facilities to accept one migrant family per church/monastery), expect changes to come.

Islamic migrants into Europe will cause problems, but ultimately will result in a dictator rising up in Europe.

Not only will that not end up well for Islam (Daniel 11:40-43; see also Is the Future King of the South Rising Up?), it will also not end up well for the UK or the USA (Daniel 11:39; see also the article Anglo – America in Prophecy). The above items were posted based upon my knowledge and understanding of biblical prophecy. And astute readers will realize that the Brexit vote confirmed what I wrote in September 2015–the immigrant situation was a factor in the UK voting to leave the European Union on June 23, 2016.

A divide between Islam and the nominally-Christian Europe is going to become more and more real.

The call for a burqa ban in Germany, the burkini ban in France, and reactions to Islamic terrorism should be making this clearer to those who will watch as Jesus said in Mark 13:33-37.

Many believe that the Apostle Paul somehow did away with the Ten Commandments, but is that what the Bible teaches?

What did the Apostle Paul actually teach about them?

There is only one only scripture that uses the “nailed it to the cross” expression (AV/NKJ), it is Colossians 2:13-14, in which Paul states, “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross“. Were the ten commandments the “requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us”? Let us examine the scriptures to see.

Commandment 1: Paul said, “God, who made the world and everything in it…they should seek the Lord” (Acts 17:24,27). Paul also said, “I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law” (Acts 24:14). “But then indeed, when you did not know God, you served those things which by nature are not God” (Galatians 4:8). “And what agreement has the temple of God have with idols?” (II Corinthians 6:16). “you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God” (I Thessalonians 1:9). “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4).

Commandment 2: “we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols” (Acts 15:20). “Now while Paul waited for them in Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols…Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said…’God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshipped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything‘” (Acts 17:16,22,24-25). “Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man–and birds and four footed animals and creeping things” (Romans 1:22-23). “But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is…an idolater” (I Corinthians 5:11). “Neither… idolators…will inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:9-10). “And do not become idolaters as were some of them…Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry” (I Corinthians 10:7,14). “And what agreement has the temple of God have with idols?” (II Corinthians 6:16). “Now the works of the flesh are evident…idolatry” (Galatians 5:19,20). “For this you know that no…idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God” (Ephesians 5:5). “Therefore put to death…covetousness, which is idolatry” (Colossians 3:5). “you turned to God from idols” (I Thessalonians 1:9).

Commandment 3: “they are all under sin…Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness” (Romans 3:9,14). “Let all…evil speaking be put away from you” (Ephesians 4:31). “But now you yourselves are to put off all …blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth” (Colossians 3:8). “they may learn not to blaspheme” (I Timothy 1:20). But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be…blasphemers” (II Timothy 3:1,2).

Commandment 4: “Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures…And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks” (Acts 17:2;18:4 see also 13:14,27,42,44). “let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need” (Ephesians 4:28) and “For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: ‘If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat‘” (II Thessalonians 3:10); (recall that the requirement to work is also part of the Sabbath command, thus even that portion of the commandment is repeated in the New Testament.) “And to whom did He swear they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?” (Hebrews 3:18). “For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: ‘And God rested on the seventh day from all His works’” (Hebrews 4:4). “There remains therefore a rest (literally sabbatismos, ‘Sabbath rest’) for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His” (Hebrews 4:9-10).

Commandment 5: “being filled with all unrighteousness…disobedient to parents” (Romans 1:29,30). “Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother’, which is the first commandment with promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth” (Ephesians 6:1-3). “the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience” (Colossians 3:6). “Children obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord” (Colossians 3:20). “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be…disobedient to parents” (II Timothy 3:1,2).

Commandment 6: “being filled with all unrighteousness…murder” (Romans 1:29). “You shall not murder” (Romans 13:9). “Now the works of the flesh are evident…murders” (Galatians 5:19,21). “the lawless and insubordinate…murders…manslayers” (I Timothy 1:9).

Commandment 7: “being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality” (Romans 1:29). “So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress” (Romans 7:3). “You shall not commit adultery” (Romans 13:9). “But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral” (I Corinthians 5:11). “Neither… adulterers, nor homosexuals…will inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:9-10). “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body” (I Corinthians 6:18). “Nor let us commit sexual immorality as some of them did” (I Corinthians 10:8). “Now the works of the flesh are evident…adultery, fornication” (Galatians 5:19). “For this you know that no fornicator…has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God” (Ephesians 5:5). “the lawless and insubordinate…fornicators…sodomites” (I Timothy 1:9,10). “fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4).

Commandment 8: “You shall not steal” (Romans 13:9). “nor thieves…will inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:10). “I have been…in perils of robbers” (II Corinthians 11:25-26). “Let him who stole, steal no longer” (Ephesians 4:28).

Commandment 9: “You shall not bear false witness” (Romans 13:9). ‘I do not lie” (Galatians 1:19). “Therefore, putting away lying, ‘Let each of you speak truth with his neighbor” (Ephesians 4:25). “Do not lie to one another” (Colossians 3:9). “the lawless and insubordinate…liars…perjurers” (I Timothy 1:9,10). “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy” (I Timothy 4:1-2). “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be…slanderers” (II Timothy 3:1,3). “God, who cannot lie” (Ti 1:2). “it is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18).

Commandment 10: “being filled with all unrighteousness…covetousness” (Romans 1:29).”You shall not covet” (Romans 7:7). “You shall not covet” (Romans 13:9). “But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is…covetous” (I Corinthians 5:11). “nor covetous…will inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:10). “we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted” (I Corinthians 10:6). “you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16). “For this you know that no fornicator…nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God” (Ephesians 5:5). “Therefore put to death…covetousness, which is idolatry” (Colossians 3:5). “For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness” (I Thessalonians 2:5). “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have” (Hebrews 13:5).

Notice that Paul clearly warns about not keeping each of the ten commandments.

Paul also wrote “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins” (Hebrews 10:26). He also warned that those who break various of the ten commandments will not inherit the kingdom of God (Ephesians 5:4-5) and then said, “Let no man deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them” (Ephesians 5:6-7).

While Paul endorsed the ten commandments, some have been confused about some of Paul’s writings, because some ‘teachers’ have falsely portrayed Paul as doing away with them.

Yet as Peter warned, “Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of the things in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the scriptures” (II Peter 3:15-16).

Perhaps the most confusing writing to some is, “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle the wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity” (Ephesians 2:14-16).

It is clear that Paul could not be talking about the ten commandments as he mentions parts of at least eight of them as still being in existence in the same book (see above, the other two are alluded to as well, Ephesians 5:31–anger, which is like murder according to Jesus; plus the comment about being a prisoner of the Lord also would show the first commandment, Ephesians 4:1)

While some may try to reason around what Paul wrote, it is a fact that early Christians did believe that they needed to keep the Ten Commandments (for detailed proof, see The Ten Commandments and the Early Church). And real Christians believe that today.

Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein believes she can win the USA presidency:

Green Party candidate Jill Stein says she has a chance to become the next U.S. president, despite the big task of overcoming what is largely a two-party system when it comes to national elections.

During a CNN town hall event Wednesday, Stein called Democrat Hillary Clinton’s record “very troubling” and described Republican Donald Trump as someone who “bashes immigrants and is a xenophobic and racist loudmouth.”

“I will have trouble sleeping at night if Donald Trump is elected,” she said. “I will also have trouble sleeping at night if Hillary Clinton is elected.”

In 2000, Green Party candidate Ralph Nader won just under 3 percent of the vote in an election that many believed Democrat Al Gore lost to Republican George Bush because those voters chose Nader. When asked about that prospect this year, Stein did not see her candidacy that way.

“Not splitting the vote, but potentially flipping the vote so that we who are the underdog deserve to be the top dog and actually could be the top dog if we stand up with the courage of our convictions.”

A big part of her belief in her chance of winning is a plan to attract what she called a “winning plurality” of 43 million young people who are trapped economically by student loan debt. Stein wants to abolish that debt through action by the Federal Reserve that would then allow people to spend money in other areas of the economy instead of making loan payments.

“It’s terrible for them, it’s terrible for our whole society, because it’s always the younger generation that leads us forward to create the economy of the future and to lead the social changes that we urgently need right now.”

She also wants to create jobs through transitioning the nation’s energy industry to completely renewable sources by 2030. Regarding the military, Stein wants to cut spending by 50 percent, end the use of drone attacks and close all U.S. bases abroad.

“Make higher education free, and healthcare as a human right, and create a welcoming path to citizenship, end police violence, and a foreign policy that’s based on international law, human rights and economic justice, not military and economic domination that’s blowing back on us so catastrophically,” Stein said of her platform Wednesday.

One hurdle Stein must overcome is that Trump and Clinton are well known publicly and as the nominees for the major parties they get lots of exposure. Stein released an open letter calling for the two candidates to participate in debates with her and Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.

There are four planned debates, but the commission that runs them requires a candidate to get 15 percent support in five national polls in order to be eligible. The latest polls put Johnson at about 8 percent and Stein around 3 percent, so currently neither would take part.

It is not clear, to me at least, how she would end police violence, etc., though reducing violence is an admirable goal.

As far as education goes, notice the following:

Stein has spoken in favor of cancelling all student debt, arguing that it is possible through quantitative easing and does not require raising taxes. (Jill Stein. Wikipedia, accessed 08/18/16)

In other words, she wants to just print up money without any real backing–that is what ‘quantitative easing’ actually is.

This type of approach is condemned in the Bible (Isaiah 1:22,25; cf. Ezekiel 22:18-22). Ultimately, it will lead to hyperinflation and the destruction of the US dollar and the USA (cf. Habakkuk 2:6-8). But this may also be how she plans to ‘pay’ for free higher education and healthcare. This is not economically sustainable.

But some seem to feel that Jill Stein is the answer.

The corporate vision for America and the world includes “endless, stupid war” so they can make a fortune out of selling munitions for it, oil to keep their petrodollars afloat, Wall Street installing usury banking in Muslim countries, taking global control of food and water for Nestle and Monsanto, grinding down wages to under subsistence level for Wal-Mart et al, and exorbitant health care price gouging for all those big pharmaceutical companies.

That’s their grand plan for us. That’s their utopia. That’s their promised land. Oh, what fun!

Isn’t it revolting? I’m sorry, but someone has got to let these guys know they are terrible visionaries. By the time they’re through with us, this planet will be an apocalyptic dustbowl. They clearly have no idea what comprises a beautiful life. Imagine thinking all that was something to reach for? Wars and poverty. They think that’s a fun time for Earth. A vote for Trump or Hillary is a vote for that vision.

No thanks. I want Jill’s vision. …

I imagine a utopian future for my children, I imagine no poverty, people enjoying looking after each other, lots of time for play and fun as technology takes over jobs and we all get to reduce our work hours. More time for volunteering and making beautiful things together just for the fun of it. …

A vote for Jill Stein is a vote for a habitable planet.

I want a sparkling environment with clean oceans to swim in, and the fresh air of the forests to breathe into my lungs. I want to improve our environment through technology, not destroy it. I want to improve where we get energy from, I want to improve how we re-use materials, I want to improve the lives of those less fortunate than myself by decreasing our impact on the planet’s resources and getting smarter about how we use what we already have. …

As far as utopia, it sounds like Caitlin Johnstone’s vision of Jill Stein is like Pope Francis’ Laudato Si vision and the United Nation’s ‘New Universal Agenda’ vision of utopia.

Humanity is incapable of solving its problems and bringing in a true utopia. Any who believe otherwise are accepting a false gospel.

No matter how laudable some may feel that Jill Stein’s vision is, it will not work according to the Bible. The USA needs prayer, national repentance, and the Kingdom of God.

• First pro-gay-marriage candidate in first gay marriage state. (Dec 2011)
• Legalize gay marriage. (Nov 2001)
• Death penalty is ineffective, and also barbaric. (Dec 2011)
• Marijuana is dangerous because it’s illegal, not vice-versa. (Dec 2011)
• Increase inheritance taxes; use it as “Aristocracy Tax”. (Jul 2015)

Jill Stein’s policies and positions will not lead to utopia, but death (Romans 1:18-32) and disaster (Habakkuk 2:6-8). So, too, however, will those of the other three major candidates.
